I don't watch NASCAR like... at all and this is the first time I've actually "watched" something like this. and so far it looks like the type of sport I'd actually watch every now and then!
If you liked this race, then you're gonna love next seasons aero package. It's gonna be like this at almost every track. I'm still on the fence about it, but I hope it brings some new fans to the sport.
I bet you if dale Sr was still alive and was able to see this race in person I'll bet you anything that he would be proud to see the number 3 car in victory lane at Daytona winning the Daytona 500. this was a very memorable and special race
3:15:50 even as a Chase Elliott fan, my heart absolutely BROKE for Matt DiBenedetto after running right up there with the leaders and having a shot to win this race.
@shane dennegan so does handling a car at the same speeds at Bathurst.... what u guys would call a "road course" dont get me wrong there are some skilled drivers, but put them on an aussie track like Mt Panorama, and you will see why aussie drivers that have competed in nascar have done well.
pete b most nascar drivers are skilled in several disciplines and participate in them often, including dirt racing. A lot of them will race in anything and are pretty good at it.
7:11 What a difference four years did for Justin Marks. Running one or two races in awful equipment, now he commands a team that can contend for a Cup Championship.
I don't know that this year you are posting the races early now. I don't have a DVR so if I miss a race I had to wait a week before seeing it. Thank you so much. 👍
I think Dillon was pushing a bit too hard. Can you blame him? Who wouldn't at that point in a race. If you have that much momentum from the push behind you, and the stream of the car in front of you, it'll pull you forward like a rubber band... and now, guess what? You're moving forward with a whole lot more energy than the car with no one in front of him. That's restrictor plate racing, ladies and gentlemen...it's a race that is won BY doing such things. Not to mention the cars, which they admit don't handle bumps and aero very well. Those things were loose and fish-tailing all day. Contact or not. Do I think he pulled up to bump and spin the guy out? No. (leave that to Kyle Busch...) Do I think he got some speed and didn't think to throw that away to keep from bumping? Yes. He had checkers in his eyes, for sure. Honestly, I'm happy for him. Team too. We still got a whole season ahead of us...
2:37:59 all right Darrell thank you I'm gonna take my buddy Denny Hamlin and I'll tell you why he prides himself on being tougher than the competition both physically and mentally. He made a mistake. He'll battle back from that mistake. and he'll win his second DAYTONA 500 Today Mike.
I believe what happened was that, for some reason, when they were doing the upload that those 10 laps, for some reason, got erased. Since they use the satellite feed for the upload during the laps that are run during the commercial breaks (which is why the length of the upload is four hours without the pre-race coverage or even the command to start engines), that's not likely the issue. But laps 179-188 were mysteriously deleted when the upload was done, something that might be corrected down the road.
Other oddities: Early in this upload you can hear some of the voiceover recordings are duplicated, as though the live feed track and the broadcast delay track were both recorded, making an echo effect.
No thanks. Rick Allen sounds like an obnoxious tobacco auctioneer/strip club dj. Steve Letarte is monotone and clinical. We need to have Ken Squire and David Hobbs cloned so they can do broadcasting till the end of time.
I've heard so many people get mad at the crash at 3:30:16, if you go frame by frame using the < and the > keys you can see Almirola goes low, and Austin actually goes higher, then Almirola try's to block Austin and crashes, Austin didn't purposely wreck him, even though it looks like it.
This is my favorite race, why?? Because Dale Earnhardt won the 1998 Daytona 500, 20 years later, Austin Dillon had took home the checkered flag for Dale and be like the Intimadator by spinning out Aric Almirola into the wall!! I love Austin Dillon!!!!
The race Cars is the best sport in AMÉRICA &around the world Indianápolis dytona GRAND prix nascar & hotwheels make the race congratulations AMERICAN RACERS START THE ENGEN
1998 Dale Earnhardt won his first and only Daytona 500 2018 Austin Dillon won the Daytona 500 20 years since the number 3 car went to victory lane at Daytona.
I know from watching the race live that, after the second big wreck, NASCAR botched the restart order at the front of the field. The top three should have been cars 12 (Ryan Blaney), 6 (Trevor Bayne), and 78 (Martin Truex, Jr.), in that order. But NASCAR had cars 12, 78, and 6 1-2-3 for the ensuing restart, which was the wrong restart order. It obviously had no bearing on the eventual impact of the race, particularly since Trevor Bayne's crew botched the pit stop following the caution for the end of Stage 2 by not getting one of the wheels tight, which was why he had to stop on lap 133, causing him to lose a lap he never got back, or he might have contended for the win. But had something like that happened late in the race, it could have effected the race's eventual outcome.
Does any of you think that this is weird? I mean 20 years after dale sr enterd the cup he won and 20 years later austen dillon won. I bet in 20 years th 3 will win the daytona 500.
I haven't watched a NASCAR race for a few years, but now I feel like I've fallen through the looking glass! I've watched up to lap 19 so far, and it looks like they're still in formation! This looks like a moving parking lot! What happened? Has strategy changed that much? It looks like a pelaton - like distance cyclists use - run as one big, tight group and hope no one sneezes.
What happened to NASCAR? I think they stopped building up drivers and story lines. I couldn’t name 5 drivers. 1995-2005 I could tell you almost every driver in the race. They can make the Next Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon Mark Martin etc…. But these days they spend most time talking about the bad drivers etc
I hope Fox kills the Fox box so terrible. I like what NBC does better. Top scrolling bar and long box on left when things spread out and not for very long
That Smithfield Ford 10 Car driven by Eric Almirola: I think that He could have won had He just held the inside line instead of trying to block both lines. Too much darting around and if anything, at this track, history has always proven to repeat itself. Still though, I'm very happy for the 3 car's win.
Draft and spin for the win. Honestly, that's not what I call good racing. Getting flat-ass knocked out because you're the guy in front... If the restrictor plate keeps you from sling-shotting, then they need to ban blocking. Otherwise it's draft and spin at every stage. And I'm really not interested in watching that.
For the record, I don't understand what everyone's upset about... Dale Earnhardt (3) always said rubbin's racin', and by any means necessary... right? IMHO, the "Black 3" car has always been a symbol of the "villain"(no disrespect intended...none) Dale-4-ever... Best part of the race... shades of Dale (3:37:37) LOVE IT ! ! !
when your younger you don't think as much about stuff and you should when family and friends help to bring you up some times you do the wrong thing but learn from and hurts at time but that's life as say
