MONSTER FISH - Deep Sea Shipwreck Fishing - Biggest ever Ling | The FishLocker 

TheAudiostud - BIG ling used to be quite a regular occurrence out on the deep wrecks but sadly like a lot of fish they’re few and far between now. We get a few into the mid 20’s every year but not many. Scotland/Shetland is the place I think you need to go now for the real big ones. 👍🏻🎣😉🐟

Barry C - Yes mate I am especially happy with it. I made the rigs for them, picked the wreck and fished it on my own boat and landed it solo. I’m very proud of this PB. It was a cracking fish aswell, really well proportioned. My wife’s going to make a catch and cook vid from it later. 👍🏻🎣🐟

Trojs Fishing - They aren’t really a fish that I often target as they don’t go back very well. Most times their swim bladders blow and you cannot release them. Still very nice to eat - we’ll be eating it for a while. Haha.👍🏻🎣🐟

@@TheFishLocker When I was a boy me and my dad went on our first boat trip with Frank Vinnicombe. The boat took 1200lb of fish but we failed to catch. Our leads were huge (5lb) an d we hit bites and reeled up empty hooks that felt like huge fish. We were used to canal fishing so we didn't let bites develop. Anyway, the lads did give us a ling so we barbequed giant ling steaks on Falmouth beach that night. One of my all-time best meals. Ps That day the sea was the colour and viscosity of tomato soup for miles and miles, we fished twenty miles out and it hadn't stopped. Frank said he'd never seen it like that before. Have you?

It was a bruiser wasn't it!!! Sadly lots of these wrecks are in such deep water that diving them for clearing nets isn't possible.

- Its the biggest I've seen or heard from in a long time round here. They do get bigger off the Scottish wrecks but not round here. ;)

Chris Fogg - If you are ever down this way again, get in touch and I’ll see if I can’t point you in the direction of a good charter. 😉 The reel thing, I explain it like this. I am right handed so my right hand has more power and more control. When fishing with a fixed spool it is generally lighter and requiring playing the fish with the rod in hand. So my right hand holds the rod. With deep sea multi fishing the rod is just up and down and the main of the work is done at the reel handle. So I my right hand does the work. If that makes sense?

@@TheFishLocker that makes sense! Think I'd still find it odd after 30 years of winding with my left. We're actually looking at Polzeath in July. How's the Bass and Wrasse fishing from the shore around that way? Any good charter boats in Padstow?

@@TheFishLocker yes happy to travel to the south coast. We stayed near mevagissey last year, managed to fluke a 4/5lb wrasse off the pier on lug worm.

Snotty estuary today and suffered it for 4 hours. Managed to hook a huge lobster but he let go at the front of the yak. Hey ho. gutted. other than that, 1 doggy.

- Well at least you got out there and gave it a crack. There have been quite a few mackerel showing the past few days out in the bay, some boats even landing small Bonito in amongst them. Maybe worth a shout?
