Hi again!
I am back with the new Refreshed look for Frankie Stein!
Monster High has been on a roll lately with these new releases and I love what they did with this Frankie Stein doll.
In this video I unbox and review Frankie’s Refreshed look and also compare them to their first Core doll. Seeing the two dolls side by side, you can really see the evolution of Frankie throughout G3!
Frankie is leaning into a more alt and scene aesthetic with this doll and I think it suits them very well. I still like a fun preppy moment here and there but this feels much more aligned with their character.
I hope you enjoy the unboxing and review, I had a lot of fun with this one!

Fun fact when designing g3 they had to redesign them more than they wanted because retailers said the dolls were too dark so I’m glad to see them adding more black to the outfits!

I wish I could afford to buy all Frankies, but I can't, so I'm gonna wait for the welcome committee Frankie to be released and then compare them with this Frankie and then choose one

Id advise you to check and see what products you're using to restyle your dolls. A couple of your Frankies have yellowed hair, which is typically due to some hair wax, leave in, hair spray or even leftover conditioner from restyling. I learned about that with the G1 and EAH the hard way, but its because saran tends to be sensitive to hair products, and comes out especially with light hair colors. With time i've stopped using moisturizing products on light colored saran, a boilwash and dish soap will do the trick just fine. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, that’s very helpful! I usually condition all my dolls but will definitely try and skip that step for Frankie and other dolls with light hair. My old core Frankie I was also restyling their hair a lot so I think that didn’t help them with the yellowing

I know this isnt your fault but i couldnt help but be distracted by Frankies yellow hair. The core refresh and Monster Fest dolls are such a step up from dolls released previously. Definitely a good time to get back into the G3 game.

They’re my absolute fav, I actually love the pink streak on the hair especially being in the front it’s something different and that’s coming from a Frankie fan lolll also all Saran hair oxidizes and gets darker, more yellow/fades it’s really unavoidable for that specific hair fiber which is why I love nylon. But Saran has that very specific texture which is so nice

sorry last comment haha but i totally agree on the doll stands!! i wish mattel would just include them bc stands (along with better/unique box designs) would make g3 seem so much more elevated! it sucks though bc its been almost 2 years like you said already and i feel like mattel is probably like "oh well people are still buying the dolls without the stands so why include them"... and true its not like people are purposefully not buying the dolls just bc they dont come with stands so from that standpoint i get why they dont include them but adding stands would just make these dolls seem more cared for if that makes sense idk D:

It does make sense! I can see the budget releases not getting stands but the $25-$30 dolls should get them at the very least

Unfortunately, in my experience, platinum or white saran hair yellows with time. Give it enough time, and it turns to an unpleasant shade that reminds me of snow after you've taken your dog out. Also, I rerooted a doll 18 years ago with a pearly purple color that has also yellowed over time. It was disappointing. Edit: also, I do remember, as a child, being annoyed that my Barbies couldn't stand up by themselves, so I do think that kids would appreciate doll stands.

If you are trying to get rid of yellowing then use purple shampoo a couple times and it should turn it into a nice white color

I think for a reroot it would be cool if instead of one pink streak Frankie got multiple pink streaks in one side and blue streaks on the other side.

Man I really wasn’t sure about Frankie the first time their full leak showed now I am more and more interested in picking them up. I am getting very tempted. My only Frankie so far is Fearidesant so maybe that will change with the refresh.

i have noticed with my og g3 frankie their hair has turned a little bit yellow. i think white saran doll hair just slowly turns yellow with time.

are you able to pull the half tight down to reach the shoe? or is it too short? i don't mind the gap there but i was wondering about this :)

You can pull it down but they do get a little looser around the ankle!

have you boiled your original frankie multiple times? my original frankie is also a bit more yellow than my others bc i play with them more and i think ive boiled them maybe 2-3 times? but im thinking the yellowing is from the boil wash! i noticed how bright white my amped up frankie hair was out of box, but right after i dunked their hair in the boiling water their hair turned more yellow only in the part that i put in the water (i didn't put their whole head in since i didnt want to take off the head piece)! i was so shocked to see that result, but i still want to boil wash my dolls so i guess that is the consequence lol

I have! That Frankie I kept restyling over and over so that probably does help explain the yellowing. It does look more severe on camera than irl but I am def gonna try and be more cautious with my Frankie’s in the future

I have more of a connection, with the original G3 doll more and the only thing that, turns me off for getting them is the brighter pink they throw into it, maybe if she didn't have it it would have gotten my attention.

You can’t dye saran hair like you can with nylon. The best option would be to reroot them. The pink hair isn’t that bad tbh, it grows on you I swear!

the one i’ve been waiting for.. they’re stunning i need them now! i haven’t been super into g3 since the reproductions came out but this makes me wanna get back into g3 again bc i rly need to 😭🩵 and i will say i much prefer the way indonesia does frankie’s screening along with the others
