Blame Universal for that. They putted Erik (specially the 1925s version) as a Universal Monster side by Dracula, Werewolf, Frankenstein's Creature, etc. And some people consider Quasimodo to be a monster too. I know. It's Bulls***. But at least Erik is included instead of being forgotten...
