Monster High The Movie Review - SPOILERS! 

i've always thought ghouls was more neutral because while it's usually a place in for girls, it could be used for anyone that is a monster. i've always referred to the boy characters as ghouls as well, i only recently learned about mansters lol. i personally don't think it's alienating frankie, but if anything we could refer to them as non-boonary 🥁

words cannot possibly express the amount of love I have for this movie!! honestly, I have nothing bad at all to say about it. from the moment the trailer was announced I was so excited to watch it! I loved the storyline, soundtrack, the way that the actors portrayed the characters, and just everything about it was amazing to me. what I loved the most was that I related to each character in some way, and this has definitely become my new comfort monster high movie for sure 💗. I'm so excited for the trilogy and to see where the next movie goes!

The amount of times I cried at certain scenes at 27 years old shows how impactful this movie actually is !

I watched the movie and I thought it was good. I just wished they showed more backgrounders and I hope the next one features characters such as Venus, Robecca, Rochelle, and Spectra.

I'm curious about the movie, but I'm really upset they retconned Clawdeen being a lesbian. I felt so seen that my favorite monster high girl was like me, and then they took it all away and it just upsets me.

Your not alone when Clawdeen was trying to sneak & get the vemon I just keep thinking “Just ask him for it!” But I am glad they she finally did just ask. It was also very distracting to Deuce’s song that I couldn’t even concentrate on what he was saying. I also felt bad for Cleo when Draculaura gave her a pimple. At first I was like “ok now what’s she going to do” but the actress really sold the emotion of sadness that I actually felt sad. Also I’m really into skincare so I felt really bad for her. I really couldn’t vibe with the musical numbers I love musicals but I wish this wasn’t a musical. I couldn’t connect with the songs & I can clearly see who were the dancers of the cast & who were JUST actors in the cast.

I'm 22, and I cried every time I've seen the movie (three times so far)

I cried more than I'd care to admit. I just wish they did more with Komos. He's my favorite, and will forever be my fav just cause Jackson was my fav in G1, and also I really like villains lol. Just wish he'd come back or get redeemed, or at least a doll. His pain was super valid, and though he went about it trying to cause pain to make up for his own pain, I still understand his view, and wish we'd get more of him. Also he kinda hot. Anyways, Frankie was def my fav. I hated them in G1, because their personality just wasn't it for me, but G3 Frankie, especially in the movie, was the absolute cutest and I just would destroy the world for them. It wasn't a bad movie. The pacing was weird, and of course there are some parts that I'm just...ugh. (Clawdeen and Deuce..blegh), but all around it was a pretty good movie and I loved it. I think the message it had is pretty important for kids these days to see, and the struggles the characters all had is really relatable and it's good to see characters you adore have that kind of rep.

The movie was a 10/10 for me, I grew up on the dolls and animated movies so watching it brought tears to my eyes I related to all the characters, the songs were amazing even the ones that were weaker than the others, I loved the twist villain just hope they make another movie in the universe of monster high

I can't wait for the sequel. I wanna see more of Abbey and Heath hooking up. They hinted at this in animation. They resemble the hotheaded guy and the ice cold gal at the end of the film Sky High. Their like that Katy Perry song Hot N Cold. Kismet!

I had the same thought about Ghouls! I tried to get some of my non binary friends to come up with a pun for Frankie that worked better and alas, we came up blank thus far.

Would like to see these monster types in the new animated series as well: Chupacabra (as a Latino/Latina representative other than Skelita (if she will return)) Jersey Devil (a New Jersey representative) Bigfoot (an actual North American one, maybe they can be Abbey's cousin) Thunderbird (as a Native American representative) Jiangshi/Chinese hopping vampire (a Chinese representative other than Jinafire (if she will return), this time, they will be from Hong Kong) Bunyip (obviously will be from Australia, their favorite food should be Anzac biscuits and their pet peeve is people making a "throw the shrimp on the barbie" joke, their pet should be a platypus) Lizard Man (from South Carolina, their pet should be a Velociraptor) Yokai (as a Japanese representative, my guess would be a kappa, a tengu, a kitsune, an oni, or a yuki-onna) Alien (will be from Roswell or Area 51 (my guess is that in the G3 universe, Area 51 will be portrayed as an area for aliens to come to Earth), they should be portrayed as very good with technology) Kaiju (another Japanese representative, they should be portrayed as being interested in wrestling (referencing kaiju movies and TV series in which giant monsters fight each other)) Gumiho (a Korean representative, she will be portrayed as a big fan of Korean barbecues and Korean dramas, maybe even as a pro gamer as well) Western dragon (they will be portrayed as a chef since dragons can breathe fire, they own a pizza oven) Indonesian/Malay ghost (as an Indonesian/Malay representative, my guess would be a Kuntilanak/Pontianak, they will also be portrayed as a gamer since Indonesia is also recently famous for its gaming channels and Vtubers as well)

Love this video; I almost think they did the Cleo zit situation due to the webisode where Frankie got the acne from the eye candy and then Cleo ended up getting acne after she was making fun of Frankie. I might be overthinking but I thought it was a mini homage to g1 but I understand where you’re coming from! The movie was super cute; gave me halloweenteen vibes in the best way possible

I think for me, since it seemed Cleo taunted her flawless skin, the zit wasn’t bad to me and honestly for Cleo to finally have a zit, she might finally be understanding to everyone around her who gets zits all the time! I admit that I might be too okay with the situation as I still struggle with acne as an adult and as a teen got picked on for it by students with flawless skin so that scene hit me the opposite as you!

I ended up watching this movie with my dad, and I loved it more then I thought I would. It wasn't too cheesy (like how I expected it to be) and the characters were likeable. It was surprisingly really good

I loved it. It gave me Halloweentown meets high school musical but with today's standards for diversity and I grew up with and loved those movies so that is an absolute complement from me. I will say for a musical I'm surprised how few songs there actually were and while none were bad the only real bop/stand out track is Come Out Of The Dark. I will say I was surprised at how some of the personalities changed particularly Draculaura at the beginning but it all worked together really well.

I watched the Monster High movie last night. The parts that made me have tears coming down my face was when Draculaura powers were taken away from her and when Cladween was crying over dulce Turing into stone. I think they did an amazing job at creating a live action movie. I was happy for Cladween when the headmistress said A pure monster heart is about being human. You have done extreme. A true monster heart I’ve ever knowed. Your mother would be proud. Welcome are first really second half but first official know student with with human blood is Cladween. I was happy she got to stay at the school. I am glad the people around her accepted her for who she Is. I am glad she did not change herself. I was happy for Cladween for finding a good group of friends both but really Frankie for keeping a big Secret.

I don’t think you were over reacting. I think they did well as far as DEI in the movie and I didn’t have as much of an issue with the point you made because I interpreted it as character development. We all know kids can be extremely cruel and I think characters should be given opportunity to be desperate(Clawdeen) or mean (Draculaura) but the main thing is they realize that they need to change and learn from one another. I personally loved the movie. My boyfriend who has no interest in Monster High knew how excited I was so he sat and watched with me and he really loved Frankie’s character

Did you know that Ceci was Smackel in Girl Meets World. They are such a good actor. They were so cute. Also yes the scene with Clawdeen & Duce was weird bc they were singing about trust. I thought he was going to find out & get upset.

The part when Frankie talked about their brain being different was so relatable and almost made me cry... 😭

I've heard some people use "non-boonary" for Frankie instead of ghoul, but I'm not sure that fits in all contexts.

I loved it! I really loved Frankie and saw myself in them as an autistic transman I found high school so hard. I really wish I had friends like Clawdeen and Draculaura to help me. I definitely want to show this movie to my nieces and nephews.

I celebrated my 45th birthday watching this movie. I loved it. I didn’t expect to cry at the end, but so many themes hit home! ❤

Before I had some suspicions about it but I also really liked it, for me my only nitpicky parts was Duce’s glasses, they continued to mention not being able to see his eyes and that teachers thought he would fall asleep in class because of his glasses but he is wearing clear glasses so all of that doesn’t make sense unless he was wearing sunglasses. Also the fight scene I feel like Abby could have used her powers or something instead of just standing there. Other than those I thought it was really good, also I think there will be a second movie because there was a final scene after the credits where there’s a witch looking in her magic ball at Draculora saying how she might be the key to destroying the vampires. So if there is a second movie it would be with Draculora as the main character instead of Clawdeen, and be about fighting off witches and saving the vampires and bringing harmony between the two.

On the topic of the zit and Cleo I definitely understand where you are coming from. There’s a movie called “A Fished Called Wanda” and it’s one of my dad’s and uncle’s favourite movies they laugh so hard watching it they are in tears. But when I watch it, it just feels almost mean or cruel. My family has always says “Ella’s heart is big enough to share between 4 people” and sometimes I wonder if I’m over reacting and other times I think no I’m right we shouldn’t be this way to each other. Idk if that made any sense at all but it’s where my thoughts went.

Yes. Clawdeen crossed the boundaries, definitely and then she knew she couldn't do it. Then, she learned that honesty is absolutely the better way. It's an evolution of shame and yeah, they all need some more of that. But we have 2 more movies to see what happens!!

Monster High Cold Take: Heath was never good.

I was surprised by how chill Deuce responded to Clawdeen trying to steal venom from one of his snakes because she didn’t trust him with her plan even though she needed his help with it and didn’t respect his boundaries.

I loved this movie so much, I wish they wouldn’t have changed deuce and Cleo tho! They’re meant to be I hope they get together eventually! also Clawd hasn’t been mentioned once in this new era of MH so I’m worried about that, Draculaura needs her lover! The Pimple on Cleo hit really close home because I think it’s teaching kids that having a pimple is a really BIG deal and you’ll be made fun for it, might just be me but overall I can’t wait for the next one!!

Omg wait....I did not think about the Deuce/Clawdeen venom from the snake scene like that.. The energy was weird/deceitful but.....well I wish you had gone into further detail why you didn't like it lol!! Now it does feel weird

People who bash this forget that this is just a simple little made for tv kids movie sprinkled with positive messages like finding your voice, being true to yourself and accepting and appreciating others for their differences. Why is that a bad thing? People only see what they wanna see. Look not just with your eyes but with your heart. Just like Beauty & the Beast. Do not be fooled by appearance for beauty is found within. Lest you turn into a miserable, disgruntled and whiny old beast.

I feel they switched up the characters to shake things up, g3 frankie is g1 ghoulia, g3 clawdeen is g1 frankie, g3 lagoona is g1 draculaura (but with a vicious carnivore in there) draculaura and ghoulia are pretty different but with a few aspects of their old selves.

My husband and I watched it last night and I thought the same thing, while I enjoyed the movie I will say I wasn't thrilled with the ideal of ghoulia talking and the zit bit was a bit too far. I do love the character stories for the most part and I appreciate the subtle throwbacks to gen 1 and the amazing puns. some of the musical numbers weren't necessary but they were cute, I appreciate the effort they went to with the i coffins and hope they can develop more live action stories from gen 1, I would love to see them do the Frankie movie in live action with the same actor, they're an amazing person for the role. I will be watching this movie again

Yes I think u are overthinking lol. All in all based on trailers and promo material I went in thinking it'd be terrible. Thankfully they just kept the better stuff out of the trailer cuz it turned out fine. The choreography in later number were better than the first one, the jokes were funnier, and the actors all added a charm the their characters. Without that charm this movie would fall apart. As is it's just silly goofy charming fun. So it's like high school musical was back in the day

The Movie was amazing and the part with cleo zit I feel like I’m glad Draculaura did it because it shows that anyone can get acne making cleo get upset is trying to make her show how she makes others feel and the clawdeen part I think she’s just nervous and feels bad for ditching deuce and she didn’t wanna tell what it’s for and tell him she’s half human

I had very mixed feelings. I absolutely LOVED Frankie (I’d love to cosplay them but don’t know if I should because I’m not an amputee and don’t want to “crip up.”) I very much related to them as an Autistic Genderqueer person. I liked the first song and the finale. The songs in between felt really out of place. The visuals were really cool. I definitely wish this story would be continued. Edit: the main thing I didn’t like is the story was kind of slow and boring to me.

Cleo & Deuce not together Clawdeen & Deuce possibly getting together Clawdeen half human with no siblings so no Claud or Howleen Cleo & Ghoulia not besties Lagoon not blue Draculaura not super bubbly & nice Draculaura being a half witch Frankie is a they/them instead of a her Sorry but I’m really just not ok with these changes. I thought after watching the movie it’d be more ok with the changes but no it just made me miss the og Monster High more.

I loved this movie SO much!!! I related to the the main three so much!! Frankie might be my favorite as I related to them the most (I mean, come on, they have to be everybody’s favorite, right?) but I also loved Clawdeen and Draculaura’s stories and characters. Hahahahahaha yeah I’m not even an OG MH fan and I don’t even remember anything about poor Heath in the movie! I loved loved LOVED the message of the movie so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I wish they could of done more with Komos

I too felt unconfortable with Clawdeen trying to take Deuce snakes' poison basically because at that moment he was opening his heart and telling her his story and it felt like she was only using him; but at least she had some kind of redemption afterwards. However I personally didn't see anything wrong with Draculaura giving Cleo a zit, I mean it was obviously a wrong thing to do, but I guess it's part of the story. After all, they're all supposed to be teenagers, they have problems controlling their emotions and get zits and pimples everyday. Also it was intended that Draculaura was a bit "closed" at the begining and then she begins to warm up thanks to Frankie and Clawdeen; if anything maybe she needed some kind of redemption at some point, like realising that she can use witchcraft for good and not for bad. Other than that I really enjoyed the movie, it is what it is, a direct-to-tv movie, so I don't get why are there so many adults complaining about visual efects (it's not like Marvel movies are any different lol). Wish they could give Lagoona some more spotlight, but ehhhh let's hope it gets a sequel

I am just now watching it. It totally forgot what day it was. Now im starting to like claudeen more maybe because she's the first one shown and in the g1 cartoons it was Frankie first and foremost. I still love my girl Laguna tho. I'll watch your review after I watched the movie over a dozen times 😂 Edit: I was floored by the story and songs especially the last 'I'ma be me' but I felt like it was a little to easy to bring down Hyde like they built up the characters stories and then well the bad guy shows up and clawdeen is the only one who can resist his powers and all of a sudden poof he's stone. Like shouldn't there be some scooby doo moments where they run and hide and then figure out a plan of defeat set a distraction. I really felt like with the dinner he was gonna crash through the school and it start breaking. Then they have to repair it all together with true monster heart. I felt like they could have done like 3 movies for this. But I do see they left a cliffhanger for another movie at the end. My dad watched with me and i told him don't pull the same line Apollo did when clawdeen said don't worry. Lol 😂

I really enjoyed it. My friend that isn't into monster high watched it with me & he said he found Frankie so relatable & Loves that Frankie is they/them. This reboot has made me realize how much I Love G1 Deuce. If I knew nothing about monster high prior the potential coupling of him & Clawdeen wouldn't bother me so much. For one I was hoping they were going to finally let her be LGBTQ+, but also it seemed so forced. Like why did a boy need to like her immediately? Frankie was amazing. I Love the actor. I saw them in Girl Meets World & they did a wonderful job in that show too & I highly recommend. I feel like Draculaura's character in this generation carries over to the animated series. She is still illegally practicing witch craft. I still want to know where Bloodgood's horse Nightmare is. Overall I am excited for more movies & I wish they made dolls for the movie because I Love human skin Deuce. Also I didn't have that reaction to Cleo's zit, but I was bullied & school & it just seemed like payback for her meanness. I hope Cleo softens up. I relate to Ghoulia just wanting to sleep, but I am sad that she's verbal.

I loved the movie too and year the scene where clawdeen tried to get the venom was weird. Instead of going thru all that trouble she could of just asked.

I am so excited for a new generation of kids to grow up with these monsters! I am so glad that the diversity and inclusion is really the soul of this new generation of monster high. I hope this new generation inspires kids to be unique, be themselves, and especially be a monster.

What a great movie loved it so much

I thought it was really good and the staging on the first number in the school gave off such a Hamilton vibe that I could actually see this being adapted into a stage play. I do have two questions though. I'm assuming this takes Jackson and Holt off the table for this reboot. Also, wouldn't Frankies parents be human since they're just mad scientists and they would be feeling some of the same pressure as Clawdine...it just felt weird for Frankie to be singing the humans are awful song with such enthusiasm knowing that. I loved the animated episode but why is Toralei british now?

Frankie & Draculaura I loved I also really liked Deuce. My daughter did wish there had been more Lagoona. Ghoulia was def comic relief 🖤🖤🖤 I liked Clawdeen as well I sure wish the doll had those curls. Did you watch the 10-12 minutes of the animated series? My daughter & I love it she already wants more. 💯 Clawdeen with Deuce with the snake 🐍 I didn’t like that scene either at the beginning of it 🤦🏻‍♀️ pimples & acne is very hard for teens & adults I didn’t like that part either 🤗 yes yay for dads my hubby & daughter are very close so I love dad representation too.

I watched it last night, and I really loved it! Also, I know it's unpopular, but I really thought Deuce and Clawdeen had some great chemistry in this movie. I'd be fine if they got together in a future movie

OMG!! The twist !!!!!!!! AHhhhh the actor …. DID AN AMAZING JOB it actually broke my heart when I found out he was the villain OMg….. and the characters were so good Cleo annoyed me the first half heath and everyone aHHHhhhhh so cute
