+gaijin hunter It's a damn shame too; continuous X pound attacks would've been an awesome way to charge up Hunter Arts quickly, which is what Striker style is supposed to be all about. Capcom really missed the mark on that one.
Striker Hammer has some more other changes: -Charges slightly faster -Super Pounds deal more damage And the most important change of all: if you do a jumping super pound, if you follow it up with X, you do a second super pound. That is REALLY good for exhaust damage
I love the hammer with arial style, running the deviant Lagombi set. You can do so much in terms of mounting and toppling, and it's good for at least two ko's in a five minute hunt when your the only hammer bro with three others. I never used hammer until this generation, but now I love it, and it's one of my mains.
You forgot to mention the secondary benefit of Striker Style (besides the hunting arts) ... Your 'R' charge is INSANELY fast. Striker is definitely the hammer style for people who just love doing those super-slams and whirlwind spins. (And since the meteor slam and typhoon trigger are basically just super-powered alternatives to those moves, I'll usually subsitute one for something like Heal Gain or Castle Walls or even Oasis, and become a shield-less tank) That being said, I really really like Bushido/Adept Hammer, because you have so much more control over WHERE and WHEN you unleash your counter-attacks and they are so stylish and getting in monsters' faces and then rolling out of the way comes so naturally to hammer anyways.
Also, that boost to charge time stacks with Focus. I made a set specifically around abusing charge attacks and arts, with that, Composed to charge your arts faster, and Trump Card to power them up when you would use them anyway.
Arekkz, you forgot to mention that in Striker style you charge the R attacks twice as fast as normal, and it stacks with Focus too. Also I think the Super Pound is slight stronger compare to other styles, since it has the visual effect similar to the strong Uppercut in Aerial or the R1 in Bushido.
I'd like to also hear about what skills are recommended for each weapon presented. Sometimes, it's hard to search around for what is best. Great job on these!
Damn man, I've never been that big on the impact weapons myself, but the stuff they can.... really making me eye them closer. I love this style of video, very informative, and well executed. You made the hammer look this good here, I'm curious what you'll do to the hunting horn. Great stuff Arrekz.
Again, amazing work. I'm really liking this new series. Awesome design too, I really feel this is a great upgrade from the last MH video. Hammer looks incredibly fun and loving the new variety of charges introduced by bushido.
It's not really a sacrifice; he leaves out that it boosts your charge time (stackable with Focus). Essentially, you just have to play differently, using more charge shots and arts for damage instead of combos.
I like striker most, as it's fun smashing the head repeatedly in the same way, and the taunt is really useful for having a monsters face right in front of you
I still feel like Aerial Hammer with a status weapon could be good for an aggro support build. For a hammer? Sounds weird right? But using Provoke with traps, Mounting skills with Aerial hits, and Status support could make for an interesting playstyle. I'm always one for versatility.
+Z.D.F bushido is all about being a graceful and beautiful dodger, going around attacks to hit weak points. Now imagine that carrying a hammer bigger than you.
Yeah I see what you're saying from a visual stand point. But from a gameplay stand point it doesn't surprise me, seeing that one of the most aggressive Weapons goes well with arguably the 2nd most aggressive style.
+Z.D.F As Invisible said, it's more from a visual standing than anything else. Bushido is pretty aggressive with counters, as you've said, so it makes sense gameplay wise, but it's still pretty interesting imagining a giant hammer wielder dodging gracefully with a hammer the size they are.
I think losing the level 3 charge attack with aerial style is a good thing, at least for me personally. I know a good number of hammer users prefer to use the level 2 charge over the level 3 cus of the distance it dashes you forward. I almost never use level 3 charge attacks myself. Also you would be correct in assuming that losing the golf swing in stryker style is a deal breaker for me using that style.
Bushido Hammer looks fresh, that bushido charge attack is almost like a hunter art on its own. These guides are very good, but gaijin does include the motion values, which is a big deal to me. I want to know EXACTLY how much damage I'm doing.
7:50 Not everything else is the same. You forgot to mention how the shorter spin attack can't be followed up with a triple pound combo instantly and instead has a delay before you can attack again. This isn't a huge lose but it does affect the overall flow and mobility of the hammer in the same way the change to the level 1 charge attack does.
Everyone is going on about how swoll adept hammer is, but aerial hammer's level 3 is a better uppercut. Also the combination of stunning and mounting monsters seems really useful. I don't see many videos of ppl trying it out though.
Yeah I would say Bushido for online/ when you want to go ham and aerial for solo or just all around fun. Aerial hammer is probably the only aerial that doesn't need to rely on aerial attacks so I feel its allot more fun, because you can choose when to use it.
OMG a BETTER uppercut... SOLD, I was never crazy about Super Pound tbh, it was kinda slow, I usually got my KOs with Uppercuts an golf swing smack downs, honestly I love getting Aireal Head Shots!
So much good stuff. I wish i could use gunner AND blademaster armor but it seems zenny will be pretty rare this time, so making multiple armor parts before endgame won't be very viable. Kind of sad, since this iteration is focusing on multiple ways of playing the game ("How do YOU hunt?") but at the same time makes it punishable to experiment a lot, since you are running out of zenny so fast. So far i played hammer, insect glaive and switch axe in mhu4 but i REALLY want to get a hammer again AND play lbg, since the damage got balanced and hammer looks even more fun than before.
Arekkz i got a question. I wanna hear your opinion about that. MH startes off on Playstation consoles but switched to nintendo which was great. But would you rather play MHX on 3ds or if capcom decides to publish Monster Hunter Online or another MH game on next gen consoles? I mean this MH is great and there are many new things compared to MH4U. But wouldn't it be more awesome if MH would reach a "new level" with amazing graphics and so on. Would be nice to get a reply
+Bryanneo1 Since you mention it though, Focus would work well with Bushido since 1. you need to get to your second charge to combo and 2. you'll best use your highest charge whether following up a Bushido dodge or not. Incidentally, with Guild style, I'd recommend the negative skill, Distraction, over Focus, since the second charge is actually better than the first. Then again, it's almost impossible to get Fastcharge -10 on a set outside of MH4U's Dragon X.
Is there a cooldown on the Bushido dodge thing, seems a bit strong to essentially have like an Evasion +3 or higher dodge and it seems to launch u further then a regular dodge too.
as a hammer user i don't like striker. The home run has extremely high K.O damage and the point of the hammer is to K.O the monster. But to each his own
do you have a recommendation for hunter arts? the taunt is obviously good for team hunts but what about the two other ones? which one would you recommend?
Arekkez questions is Bushido hard to use and is the dodge distance greater then that of the guild style? also as a Hammer main I agree the golf swing is a powerful move but for me its somewhat expendable the level 3 charge slam is irreplaceable to me as the sheer damage it does is amazing and the spin attack is great for getting in and dealing some serious leg damage p.s I cant wait to be able to provoke monsters my friend wont stand near the trap with me to lure it in
My God... no offense my friend, but you talk EXTREMLY fast. Way too quick for me at least, to be able to snap up what you're saying. Still, you cover some things I haven't seen in other videos. Does the Bushido Style LVL 3 charge do K.O or Exhaust damage? I heard that LVL 3 charge is only exhaust. Does Bushido make an exception?
