Imagine hunters barely caught up with this giant rocket serpent. They fought well and one of them succesfuly climbed on Val's back. "Okay. Okay. I got this." While breathing heavily, he felt the creature's movement slowing down. He thought he heard his friend yelled. About letting it go or something. But their voices were swallowed by the sound of jet engine which gradually increases. And then 2:14 music start. The wyvern went vertical straight toward the cloud above leaving the hunter hanging on its back.
probably the most easy to listen to theme they’ve ever produced. so nice on the ears, and it’s got an incredible melodic sound to it. reminds me of some Dark Souls 1 OST with the really small chorus in the background. 0:50 is just beautiful.
Radahn: 'comes flying at the player like a meteor' Normal Players: damn, that's a cool and dangerous ability! MH Veterans: *'cue PTSD Vietnam Flashbacks of Valstrax'* oh god not again!
"Its a bird!" "Its a plane!" "Its a supersonic silvercoated elder dragon propelling itself with dragon element blasting from his wing-thrusters...wait what?!"
I like how even Valstrax's weapons have super high white sharpness, but as soon as it runs out it's straight to red. Everything about Valstrax has such an "all or nothing" feel to it and I love that.
I mean, it may also be a reference to it being a silver dragon trailed by red (Which is also theoretically in its title "Argent Comet", it being a silver (Argent meaning silver) dragon with red trailing behind it (as in it being likened to a red comet)). I never realised that it also referenced how it burns out easily too and that sharpening a Valstrax weapon is like it recharging, getting back to full strength, but interrupted and knocked aside by a hit during it. Thanks for the info!
Spoiler Well do I have a surprise for you! Just wait a few more days. Homie strax over here has been datamined, leaked and hinted at in game, so I'll be shocked if He's not in the may update
Fellow Hunters, we are gathered here today to bear witness to the return of this beautiful creature to our game. Please join me in making clothing and weapons out of its corpse.
Hunter 1: Hey, look, its a red shooting star!! Make a wish!! Hunter 2: I wish I was dead. Hunter 1: Haha! Hunter 1: Hunter 1: Hunter 1: Hey that looks kinda close, doesn't it?
first time i went against valstrax i saw him fly away, or that's what i thought, i tried not to lose sight of it so i could know which area he was going since i didn't mark it, but then i saw him do some spins above and then flash red as he launched itself against me, needless to say my jaw hitted the ground, i recorded those epic 30 seconds
XxReTr0 xX Hm now this is some good logic How about that the insect glaive would take more time to comeback and instead of getting one buff you get two if you hit the head
Director: We need a new final boss any ideas? Creative team member: Rocket dragon! Director: What? Creative team memeber: And it shoots rockets! Director: are you feeling ok? Creative team member: Chrome plated! And its wings double as some sort of sword thing! And it's also a comet.
director :(makes serious face) you know ...[team member name] you have to take a break team member : nervous face director : CUZ I FREAKING LOVE THAT IDEA
Another thing I love, this song only has a single stopping point, which is the climax, and the constant flow of the song leading up to it just makes it magical
Rise version is good, but not as good as this. But to be fair, regular valstrax is very heroic and grand. While crimson glow is more chaotic and villainous. Which fits the monster since the dragon energy made them go mad. Generation ultimate valstrax theme is still better tho.
Something i realized as well. Outside of Risebreak, in most other games the presence of a chorus in the theme is usually only reserved for some of the most powerful and/or royally pissed off monsters. You get to hear some of that in Valstrax's theme which is a great little nod to the sheer amount of power he's packing.
Hey look that red comet is kinda beautiful isn’t it *pushes the handler to the ground* SEE YA’ NEVER Valstrax: Y O U A R E G O I N G D O W N N O W G I R L *Valstrax proceeds to crash at full speed against the handler*
Did somebody say chrome plated dragon with transforming jet engines powered by dragon lightning? I really hope this bro gets a place in the series as recurring lategame badass like Fatalis and Alatreon did.
tismeah7 Yup! And once the again, the f*ckers totally had to do it on the one game that wouldn't release in the west again. xD They always like to keep the best for themselves. lol They literally gathered all the things that everyone wanted in MHGen and put it in MHXX, which is godly compared to the semi-garbage that MHGen was. They even saved Lao Shan Lung for it... And then they decide not to release the TRUE Monster Hunter anniversary game to the west? Fuck off Capcom.
what? gen was garbage? it totally was not, yes it did not have g rank or some things but I still enjoyed the hell out of it and clocked in over 100 hours in it.
Over 100 hours in a Monster Hunter game really isn't "playing the hell out of it." It was... mediocre. It took a lot of the quality upgrades of 4U and threw them out the window. Cohesive "storyline" mode in single player that kept you going from key quest to key quest without having to guess what to do next? Nope. Tutorial for newer players showing them the basics? Nope. Guild Marm having sexual fantasies about various monsters? Nope. 60 FPS cap? Nope. Mandatory gathering quests? IN FUCKING SPADES. Wanna know what's playing the hell out of a game? The ~3k hours I had in MH4U. And I'd still not gotten to the point of learning Gunlance, Lance, or SNS. Buuut then my 3DS's sim card died and I had a digital copy so there went all 3k hours of work. RIP my face.
Gen is probably the worst they could have made any of the newer games. Sure, it's better than the likes of Freedom 1 and such, but that's just because the hardware is better. It has made far too many design mistakes that it's just not a good game for current standards. Doing a Solo Artless Guild run is actually quite fun, but other games did that much better, because it was the entire game in those situations. Double Cross, on the other hand, looks brilliant. It would probably be the definitive MH game if they got rid of those dumb Hunting Styles. The arts are fine, but the styles are not!
When I was a kid, Monster Hunter is the only game where I sometimes hesitate to accept certain quests like this one, especially when I think I'm not mentally ready. Because I'm scared and kept imagining the multiple ways I'm gonna get screwed and get my ass beat during the fight.
used to happen to me a lot. I even thought to myself "my friends are gonna laugh at me cuz I'm not good enough at this game". Once I broke out of that mental I started really enjoying myself overal, specially in hunts like this one
just go the game. in these boss-centric games, you gotta realize that at the end of the day the core gameplay loop is banging your head against the wall until your head and the wall crack
yeah like this remind me of in past MH games. when i've feel like im not strong enough yet to take quest to kill fatalis. the momment i see how fatalis look like i was like. "damn, lets farm some more" or when i see the maps looks especially if it has big open area, like. "why is the map so big?" then i was just like "owh" after seeing what you need to fight in there😂
GU was my first Monster Hunter game, and out of all my hunts and every monster in that game (which is pretty much every monster in the series except for those in World and later) Valstrax is far and away my favourite. I love the fight, love the concept for the monster, I love it's design, and I love it's theme. I really hope it gets added to Rise sooner rather than later since it's in the files.
@@gabejr25_82 Sometimes I open GU and fight Valstrax again just because I love fighting it. The greatsword is shit, the armor is bad, I have no use to farming it. But this is probably the only hunt I can repeat just because I get immense pleasure in hunting it. The monster isn't too hard, but isn't easy, it's still a satisfying challenge with a greatsword. No bullshit mechanics with the fight, honest (and epic) moveset and good hitboxes, and god, the music. It's almost a ritual. I recently reached G1 in GU and hunting valstrax in High Rank is almost a ritual for me when I just feel like I want to have fun. I could try to speedrun the hunt, but no. I get my fun from trying to break every part of it. I don't get anything useful from that, but I still do, even if it takes me 25 minutes for a hunt I can do in 10. That is how much I love hunting it. Out of every flagship monster, only Gore Magala and Valstrax have done that to me.
I know I'm two years late but, while I like the original more in its melody I like the fact that the new theme is more fast paced and by far the thing that I like the most is that the chorus plays twice. I absolutely hate that it doesn't in the original.
yeah, the instrumentation is way less real sounding so it overall sounds worse. plus, there's that weird part that just kinda breaks the pacing. I do like how they repeat the main melody in rise though.
I hope that at some point in one of the future games, despite how unlikely it is, there’s a turf war between Safi and Valstrax. I mean it’s just perfect. The Sapphire Star versus the Crimson Comet.
Safi would certainly beat the living crap out of Valstrax. But i would love to see it, cause they are probably my favorite elder dragons from 4th and 5th gen
the quest for hunting valfalk translates roughly to "the drill...eur dragon that pierces the heaven" so its not wrong. Plus its armor is based off the Gurren Lagann mech's appearance.
When I first faught Valstrax that "Around the World" attack caught me off guard as I thought he retreated and then I look into the air again and see he's coming back find my self being pummeled into the ground by a Comet Dragon
You may have figured this out already, but the best way to tell if he’s leaving or going go dive bomb you is by marking with a paintball or some other skill that displays his position on the map. When he does the dive bomb, he usually does roughly a half circle around the area before zooming down on you.
I had that happen to me in the demo. I call that move "The Ardent Comet" as a tribute to his title. Tried to block it with GL shield. Turns out, the only way to live is via Superman dive. It still looked badass.
0:53 "Courageous hunter who reaches for the shining red star. Ascending the clouds to the heavens afar. Courageous hunter you stand before magnificent burning light. Now stand your ground and fight, and show your unwavering might."
Everyday... Everyday I watch the sky in the Elder's Recess to see if you're here... We are waiting for you buddy ☄ Edit: Well... Today I know I can stop waiting, but I hope I can RISE in the skies for find you again 😔 EDIT: And my hope will come true... Happy to see you again buddy, we will have missed you very much 😢😭 And you come back to us, more silvery and crimson than ever... Under the light of your shine, let's fight again!!! And let's Rise up, until we make this fight sparkle... 🌌✨☄✨🌌❤ Thx for all the support guys 👍
Valstrax is a blast to fight (get it?) But i daubt he will ever come to world the monsters from gu are a little bit to crazy for worlds more realistik style (i think) though id love to see the glorious rocket powerd elder dragon in worlds engine
I think that we wont see some monsters like gog, athal ka,narkarkos, cadeus, dire miralis and the morans for a long while they are just unike to their game
the valstrax and bazelguese's turf war would just be a one-sided affair where the valstrax does his comet move and bazel flies up towards it hoping to ram him, and the sheer force of them both colliding creates a MASSIVE nuclear explosion in the atmosphere high above, and bazel is on the ground with valstrax pinning him and roaring triumphantly before they resume their normal fighting. 3k damage
@@wheresdad2894 I’m not so sure. If Gore Magala is to return in the future, you can’t just slap him in the game and be done with it. You’d have to bring in the Frenzy Virus and all of its shenanigans as well.
If we play devil advocate would that be a bad idea since we already have a endgame dragon weapons that being shara ishvalda, and ruiner nergigante, and more importantly wouldn't be hard to make the set work because unlike other sets it gives you dragonblight when 2/3 below health but immune to elemental damage.
The Rise on is for Crimson Glow, a monster driven insane by its own power, so the theme is faster and more aggressive to represent that, though if nornal Val gets to Rise it'a guaranteed to have the same theme.
Hunter: Die monster! You don't belong in this world! Valstrax: Tis' was not by my hand that I was given Jet wings, and I was called here by hunters who wish to slay me for tribute. But enough talk. Have at you! **play's this theme**
I know what you mean but I personally think that a better theme for that place is the music for the Final phase of Atoraru Ka. though this is a close second.
Yep. Phases 1 & 3 are pretty similar to each other, same with phases 2 & 4, but they do have differences, so I'm listing them separately. Phase 5 is the real battle though.
I find it unlikely that they will as they went for more realistic monsters, and a jet dragon travelling at Mach 1 speed seems a bit too much for world. Still, i would love to see it in world!
@@staples515 And a JOJO character that can use magic to create tornados with his eyes and can summon meteors from the sky is totally realistic , oh and is from another dimension
And like some of Rise remixes, they get washed out in favor of something that doesn't deliver as much intensity leaving an underwhelming or empty part of the OST.
I just fought this guy a week ago high as hell and you wanna talk about intense. I felt like I was fighting to save the entire planet from a giant jet powered silver plated dragon
So i have a chronic problem with my Gut. When the weather changes i find it hard to poop. But when I'm listening to this ost everything's works perfectly fine. Thanks capcom
Lol, imagine, a X-02 Wyvern Squadron with Silver and Red planes named Valfalk Squadron Edit2: Now that i think of it, Valfalk would be more suitable to the Wyvern, even though there's no orther Superplane with dragon name. Not to mention that they're both extremily fast, and Valfalk's ability to move his wings foward also applies to X-02's low speed wings and Valfalk's taking off ability as Wyvern's high speed folded wings.
0:05 - 0:10 Part of the theme appears to follow a bit of the beginning sequence of "Keep Alive" from Ace Combat Assault Horizon if you really let yourself hear it. To make matters even better, the [ADF-01] ValFALK[EN] itself has an indeterminate payload of missiles it will actually launch at you and is basically a jet fighter that chooses to fight you on the ground. So yeah, it IS like something straight out of an Ace Combat game if Strangereal was stranger than normal.
