It's Rathalos theme because it's actually called that on the OST. Each areas music was designed after the most prominent monster from that region. Forest and Hills theme is based on Rathalos, Jungle is based on Rathian, Desert is based on Monoblos, Swamp is based on Gypceros, and Volcano is based on Gravios.
@@Lutyrannus Guess they weren't expecting monster specific themes to become a prominent feature in what were at the time non-planned sequels. Even in older entries the music would just default to the area theme whenever you hunt them in areas different from their "home". So even if they were based on those monsters, they were never treated as their actual boss themes.
So then, the King of the Skies has fought thus far, the Legendary Soldier himself, Hydaelyn's Chosen, and now plumbers, bounty hunters, vampire hunters, robots, mercenaries, kings, gods, witches, and others.
some people will say that a song is the theme of anxiety or something as a joke but this literally ticks all the boxes on what makes a human anxious, the drums in the background, the entire intense horn music, the mini build up to keep the song going, it is just the theme of anxiety. but honestly its mostly because 0:32
You know what it reminds me a little bit of? The Rite of Spring. Seriously, look up the Fantasia T. rex scene. I would be willing to bet the person who composed Roar took some inspiration from Rite of Spring.
Getting ran down by a 40+ long firebreathing dragon that can inject venom that can kill 20 elephants in 20 mins if you just so get scratched by its talons, you would have anxiety too
Anyone picturing Big Boss shooting at the Rathalos with the Mosin-Nagant, Link pursing him in the Master Cycle Zero, and a Dragoon being carted to the nearest camp?
Ahh yes! You feel that? The raging fire building within you, let it out! Wyvern blast your enemies, sweep the skies in eternal flames! Rise Rathalos, the king of the skies!
This song is unusual to me because I've only played world. I Like the ancient forest battle theme but this is a very frantic and frightening song fit for the king of the skies.
@@colehamrick6252 when you're learning and facing new monsters, sure, yeah. But when you already have hundreds of hours playing monster hunter(per game) you already must have a top set of armor and skills to make a lot of damage, not to mention experience. And Rathalos is a basic monster even in G rank
This should be Rath's theme fro all games. Just as Deserted Island's should be Lagi's Barroth's should be Sandy Plains theme. Dunes theme should be Diablos Uragaan's should be Volcano theme Barioth's should be Tundra. Regardless of where they are fought.
Big, booming, loud. Perfect for Rathalos. Hes a loud firetruck red color, impossible to ignore, who needs camouflage when you are the king of the skies and no one but the foolish dare challenge your crown?
So I was listening Stravinsky and I realized that this theme has been pretty much plagiarized. Don't get me wrong: I absolutely love it. It reminds me of my childhood, but it turns out to be almost identical to "The Naming and Honoring of the Chosen One" from Stravinsky. I'm still taken aback by this discovery of mine...
@@andrewcrowley6331 Man, just relistened to both and I still confidently think they are almost the same. The beggining is practically identical note to note, and throughout the pieces you get the exact same feeling. The overall evolution of the music is totaly alike.
They really ought to give Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian this theme. Or a new Variant, I can’t tell you how well this theme fits the chaotic fighting of Old Rathalos and Rathian.
So im a new gen Hunter (MHW) and Fatalis is confirmed. Having just looked up Fatali's theme, and then of curiosity other monster's themes, why is Rathalos's theme practically the same as Fatali's? Is there some lore reason for it or not? I ask because Fatalis made me interested in MH lore and dayum... so yee just curious.
Nothing lore-related, but might be just an intentional callback to your first actual large monster battle in the game (in this case Velocidrome) -on top of the lack of soundtrack like the guy above said-
Lord of the air, cross if you dare King rathalos, beast with the most Wing spreading wide, flames spew like tides Claws leave you dead, like cyanide p (Pause) Rathalos, the king of the skies Fighting him will lead to your demise Rathalos the king of the skies Tyrannical, barbarical (he is rathalos) Hysterical, fallen angel (rathalos rathalos) (Repeats) Terror of the skies! Fight him you will die!
