MONSTER SNOWBLOWER - SEASON 2!! Clearing the cabin road after three weeks of snow

That's quite a machine. Some commenters talk about a need for more power but c'mon guys. It's three weeks of snow and an unusual situation. Monster stepped up and handled the job. I'm sure it's more than enough machine for his more typical uses.

Here in the greater Vancouver area we don't get much snow in the mainland. Soo love watching these video's. Thanks for sharing.

Everyone wants you to have a different snowblower. Or a plow or a front end loader .. or a flamethrower! I have 3 snowblowers and am quite fond of them all - but what you have is great and very entertaining to watch. What a beast!

I purchased our 33" MTD with 10hp Tecumseh in 1986 and it has served us well ever since. I've replaced a couple of drive belts, one friction wheel, and I had to permanently lock the differential after I finally shredded the gears. In Wisconsin we usually don't get more than 10" or 12" at a time on our 900' driveway and it still chews right through it. Alas, I turn 76 this year and am enjoying using it less and less. I will transition to either a truck or a UTV, but either way it will have another snow blower.

I've had two of the Yardman snowblowers over the years and they never let me down. If I was a young man like you I think I'd try one of the dealers. Keep up the good work.

Duel wheels are impressive but chains would make it double the machine.

I had the same snowblower for many years with no problems at all. I sold it and really regret getting rid of it. It's a great snowblower. The key is take care of it and it take care of you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

9:26 Nice to see someone seriously committed to "getting the job done". Looks to me like you seriously utilized most everyone of those 13 horsepower. Your keeping the auger loaded and the chute delivering, and calculating to only handle the snow once, rather than carelessly handling the snow over and over again. Fits the phrase, "If ya wanna get a job done, give it to someone that's really busy, they'll not waste time or money or scarce resources. They will figure out, and experiment, how to best utilize and optimize because they can't afford to do otherwise." Live life with gusto, not fear and squandering, of husky equipment.

Those dual wheels are a marketing buff, if you need traction you need narrow tires with smaller contact surface not wider ones. Yes they help a little bit for flotation but not traction. A trac driven blower is a better choice for traction on hard snow surfaces as well as loose snow. Then you can remove the snow in layers.. But an impressive machine none the less. Cute dog btw.

I had this exact blower on a Cub Cadet 3184 (18hp)tractor. It would bog down in the crap at the end of the driveway. I kept the blower, and upgraded the tractor to a Cub Cadet 3235(25hp). The snow blower would no longer bog down, but it would literally blow the directional chute off the top of the blower- it was held together with plastic clips. MTD crap. If I had re-engineered the clips, the next weakest part would have broken. I fixed the problem by selling all my MTD crap, and going to a walk behind simplicity pro series. Now THIS is overbuilt!

I live in northern MN and I have the same machine, but is a 33" 13HP White Snow Boss 1350W that is out of business now... but it came in the 45" model with duals also; so I have the same frame, engine, transmission, sans dual wheels and 45" cut, just in a smaller package and it has served me well since new in 2001. Haven't even broke a shear pin yet. I never use chains as to not break other parts... I'd rather spin the tires than break something. Mine has 'power steering' and a 16" impeller and the wide mouthed 6" chute. It is a beast. Nice video!

I got the TroyBilt version in 2013 and still going strong and even do a 1/4 acre gravel lot , added a set of quick disconnect wheels for spacers to front so it don't eat any stones.

When I lived in Maine I had a snow blower and I did a whole road like that for a couple years it was pretty tough. That's up monster snow blower and a beautiful dog you got. I finally got a tractor and I had a dog and I had to get him boots and a jacket cuz he had to be out with me day or night moving snow. 👍👀❤️ It doesn't get any better than that a cabin a truck a snowblower 👍

I've got the same thing in Cub Cadet version. Used for about 15 seasons. Bought mine used and was modified with some water pipe bolted to each side and has four 5lb dumbbell weights at back Adds traction & makes lifting front easier. I load mind into truck just like you. Your dog loves it.

You've got the right tool for the job. A walk behind snowblower especially one of that size makes short work of it. My favorite thing about snowblowers is how they leave no banks like a plow. A plow on a truck would have made a big mess of that job and probably taken more time.

I like the pup riding shotgun... I have an excursion, the back seat removed, middle folded down, so my 2 boxers are almost in front... They have a huge area to roam in back... Nice vid

I have this same Machine / LOVE - IT. Just feather-it and let it "eat" at it's own pace / amid NOT forcing ANYTHING, and it will perform flawlessly. In it's lowest range (or gear), just finger the propulsion lever, and the auger's will "draw it" in at it's most comfortable "throw" pace ... GREAT CLIP !.

What a beast of a snowblower! Over an hour isn’t too bad given how much snow needed to be cleared. The 4 wheel drive is cool but some chains I think would provide a bit better traction on hard packed snow or ice.

I love to blow snow, but THATS a lot of snow. I use a 20 year old MTD with a 24" width and it does ok for me, Thanks for the video!

Great rigs if it's not blowing, I have the same size, they can move a lot of snow in a hurry. Never knew how to swear until I bought a blower. Lol. Take care.

Tire chains for your snowblower would be a good idea.

My neighbor has one of those, I always appreciate it when he makes a run with it up and down both sides of our street clearing both sidewalks in one pass each way. He owns an apartment building up the street, and he does the sidewalks up from his house to the apartments then does the parking lot with it, then comes back on my side of the street, then completes the circuit back to his house. He clears around the fire plugs and leaves a couple spots for us neighbors with little dogs to have a place to go in the deep snow, haha. Then I go around with my single stage and clean up after he's done:-).

Makes me appreciate my 46 blower on my mower. It's got a 20hp v twin and I've only push about 6 inches so far. Just bought it last summer for a steal. So I've been begging for some more snow lol

Those Yardman with the 16" 4-blade impeller through snow much farther than their 12" 3-blade counterpart. I had the 30" 2 wheels of the same heavy duty lines yours is from. My dad had the regular version with the same engine, but 12" impeller, it didn't throw snow at all.

Better than a shovel. Neater than a plow. Honda and Yamaha popular out this way. Amount of snow very similar snow settled last week with mild temps.

Sounded like you were making the equipment groan a bit. Need to use a lower gear and let the rpms do the work. Otherwise, nice piece of equipment. Thanks for sharing 👍

Not sold on oversized yard blowers. Wide throat with dual wheels does not cut it. They need more weight for traction and weight to keep the blower on the ground. It's all about the amount of metal in the design. As another poster said , "Yamaha and Honda are popular", because they have proven themselves many times over. Quality costs, which is another subject. IMO well worth the money.

You've got a lot of armchair snow blowers here telling you what you need to do or have to do or get.🙄 I think if you have a machine that you're happy with then ignore them. I use a lawn tractor mounted 42" snowblower that fits my needs but likely not yours. The only opinion I would offer is I favor snowblowers over plows for residential use because it doesn't leave big ugly piles that take forever to melt. So to me you've made the right choice here.😀

Id try and find a 25 hp v twin kawasaki and swap motors. That thing would be nuts then.

Snow blower works great! Mine is 6HP with a 24" width (I will never go below 28" again) and mine does bog down like yours. I go a gear/speed slower so the auger has time to chew the snow and the impeller has time to spit it out.

I've got a 20 horse kawasaki that would make that thing unstoppable!

I have Cub Cadet version of that. I made a sulky for it. Use a lower gear it will not want to climb up the snow then let the machine do the work. And heated handle grips are worth the money but definitely add an on/off switch they make it hot quick.

I just picked up a 45 inch used one. I was debating between a tractor and this. I'll use this for now, the tractors are too expensive.

I like my Murray 8.00/24 I bought it new in 2009. It's a heavy tank. The snow intek is a beast. Though these days I covent the simplicity line. Besides Briggs them selves simplicity is the only company offering non Comercial units with Briggs and Stratton engines. A local dealer is advertising a new 24" with an 1150 Snow Series for 850$(us) . That thing has to be a beast! My thoughts of late revolve around either finding a 10 year old Toro with the factory snow intek or repowering a 421 or 521 with either the Murray's 800 snow intek or an ebay Briggs 950 snow series. I thought my Murray was the final word until work got a used 521. That thing is a joy, so light, so maneuverable of course the tired old Tecumseh can usually only mange two things, starting and complaining. A snow intek would make that thing a joy forever. But alas it doesn't snow in Iowa anymore. The Murray's only been used twice a year for the past few.

My neighbour had one of those. Just too a wide a cut for that size engine. He was constantly fixing it and got rid of it. You have to put more work in using it than a regular sized blower, constantly pushing it and keeping it on track.

One suggestion to inhance the forward drive grip is to mount the tiers in reverse. They are now mounted just like a standrad tractor tire (ie the best grip is going backwards when stuck). This is a not applicable with a snow blower (it will always be easier going backwards).

I have the exact same machine as you do but 33" wide and single wheels. Same 13 hp motor and 16" impeller. I purchased it back in 1997 and it still looks brand new. The only maintenance that I have needed to do besides oil changes are belts and lubrication. I also installed the impeller modification 2 seasons ago and it does the EOD with zero clogs. At first I was skeptical about doing the mod, but it really does work. Could help on those crusty bottom layers that make the the motor struggle.

Best snowblower is a big engine with a small to medium bucket. You'll have to make a couple more passes but they really go through the snow.

If your tires are spinning and the bucket is pointing upwards, you're in the wrong gear. It was sad to see you struggling against the out of control machine. Old saying still rings true, "Let the machine do the work".

I hope you have extra belts and friction discs for the heavy duty work you're doing with that machine. For that type of work a slower hydraulic drive unit would be awesome like a Honda hydrostatic. Good job though like I said it's not only the width that is impressive but you can only put so much through the impeller.

Them light's would drive me nuts at night.

I bet the GMC gets pretty good traction with that monster in the back.

Cool machine buddy ---- As someone already mentioned chains help tremendously with traction and the duallys float more and dig less ------ generally duallys give less traction then a single tire ---- go back to singles or not - just chain them up and you will work and sweat less lol

Looks great but tire chains would increase traction. Even with 4 tires there was some spinning. I would count myself very fortunate to have the cabin.

I bought the exact snowblower but it was made by White and it was 18 years ago. It doesn't look like anything has changed, litterally, in 18 years except for the name. Still works like new but I always thought the engine was too small and should have been a 16-20hp.

Good Concept. Not enough HP. Auger Gear not heavy duty enough. MTD taking those parts off the shelf and slapping them on to make a machine.
