What a monster!!! Congrats! What a way to end a dream hunt!!! To all the haters… Y’all really don’t understand and it’s okay. Don’t knock on a man’s passion because he’s in touch with what makes him happy. Y’all do your research. The wildlife and fisheries keeps a really good count. Promise you! No one loves animals more than hunters and no one contributes more than hunters.
@DadsRightsMatter1322 Hello, I'm not at all familiar with hunting. Just out of curiosity, could you elaborate a little on what this contribution is all about? I've always felt a deep respect for wildlife on the part of hunters, but I've never understood this seemingly paradoxical activity.
@jevoisfroid Money that pays for fees and permits to hunt goes back into conservation of animals they hunt. Also, if they killed them all they wouldn't have anything to hunt so that's never the goal. Numbers of tags/animals allowed are managed and calculated by bear biologists at the game commission and people who keep track of numbers. Not by hunters. On Kodiak in particular, and anyone correct me if I'm wrong, they use a lottery system. People may try for years before their name is drawn to be able to hunt there. It's a dream for most hunters. They pay big money to hunt there. Big males only are taken, because they are known cub killers and that way more cubs are raised to adulthood. Big boars are also on occasion known to even take out a female if she is particularly aggressive defending her cubs. So by taking only mature males it allows more bears to live. And last, hunting large predators keep them afraid of humans, it reinforces their natural fear of humans. In areas bears aren't hunted they lose that fear over time and it causes increased human bear incidents and attacks. Most hunters, especially at this level are ethical hunters who never want to see an amimal suffer so they won't take a bad shot. Most ppl use guides who also are armed as backup.
Haha a poacher ? One who pays thousands and thousands of dollars for the permits, fees, travel to Kodiak Island, equipment, guides, camping costs, etc. Why do you watch if you don't like it ? In the instance of archery hunting for an animal that can and does end up being the victor sometimes, it takes a lot of skill and cojones to hunt the biggest bears on earth with a bow and arrow, which can only be shot from ~40 yards or less. Not only that but there is never a guarantee they go home with a bear even after spending all that money. Maybe you should look up the definition of a poacher before you expose your ignorance. Or just don't watch. 🤷♀️ If you truly think they don't respect the largest land predators on earth, you must be high on some good stuff. 😂
What a fantastic documented hunt! One of the best I’ve seen in years…. Only a hunter can appreciate the scope of a hunt like that. For the folks that don’t hunt or despise it, us hunters are the reason that ALL game can be harvested at the right times and for the right reasons…. Thanks for the video!
Awesome film, awesome bear. I've watched Sam's video of "Frank the Tank" so many times, taken with a bow and Sam called him in just like he did this bear. Guess Sam knows his stuff. LOL. Congrats to all as it is a team effort. Hope Mark has a big room for that beast.
What an amazing hunt! I am so proud of Mark and everyone that made this possible for all to see. You guys continue to produce amazing content every time. We all look forward to the next one. God bless and continue to inspire us all🏹
Amazing hunt to watch unfold! More amazing is the size of that beast! CONGRATS on getting it to all come together with archery gear!! What did he square?
Dude my heart was pounding just from seeing how close he was holy cow what a rush I can't imagine being on the ground with a bow and arrow. Great support team must have cost you top dollar to get that bad boy!! What that run? about 10k is my guess.
Yeah, I'd say he was definitely getting too close,.. My goodness that thing is huge! In the first hunt preview, my thinking was, What other bear is going to be coming in to the call from behind you, that nobody noticed? Great video, thanks for sharing.
Mr. Heck Your Patient's with Our Famous Kodiak Weather over the year's was Well Rewarded in a Big Way. Congratulations. Please let us know what he Squared Out at as well as the Dried Skull measurement. Congrat's again from the Northern most Hawaiian Island....Kodiak🙂
Great video, what caliber was the rifle you shot the first bear with? He was way closer than I would have liked taking that shot! Glad it seemed to have only took one. That was a bad spot, he could have rushed over that hill and been all over you. Glad everyone was safe and thank you for bringing us this footage.
Man that was awesome that was one heck of a big bear for sure. Can't wait to see if it's the archery record. That would be a awesome achievement. Congratulations
Congratulations Mark and all that were involved. Haters will hate but those who know what an amazing accomplishment that hunt and your life has been, can appreciate the hard work. I heard about this video from the motley crew at WCB. Congratulations again!
Amazing How a well placed shot can be so affective, I like Sam's comment are you sure you Hit Him Great reaction from the Hunter very nice Hunt and Camera work.
