The text is taken from Henry B. Adam's famous work, Mont-Saint-Michel and Chartres (published I believe in 1904). I've adjusted different phrases from the first part of the book and placed them together in this video "montage." Adams was an American historian and member of the Adams political family, descended from two U.S. Presidents. In this work he had some fine things to say about medieval Europe and Christendom that challenge us even today.
