Montana Bird Camp | The Flush: Episode 7, Season 12

Montana is great. If you go, you need to be in shape, the properties are huge. You need to be prepared for any kind of weather - from temps in the 80s to sub zero with a howling wind. I have been chased back home to CO on multiple occasions by blizzards. You can't be picky about accommodations, especially when traveling with a dog. - you take what's available. Grizzly bears are a possibility from the Rocky Mountain Front to the Missouri River ... yes, even on the prairie. Montana is huge and it is a LONG way between cities. Suicidal deer and antelope are everywhere after dark and there's noting quite like driving along a road through "Open Range" after dark and spotting a herd of black Angus standing in the road. I stopped hard for a herd of deer crossing the road at dusk, only to have one crash into the driver's side door. We typically do a huge loop of Eastern Montana over 10 days and do our best to be back at the hotel or to our next destination before dark - we've seen countless deer disabled vehicles on our trips to Montana over the past 10 years.

I’m so thankful for your show. I live along the east coast of NC. Other than a few woodcock no upland hunting here. I can live vicariously through your experience which is special.

Forgot to mention, it brought back my short time in the South Dakota. Great pheasant hunting there back in the middle 60’.
