Maybe bow hunters just don't know the joy and advantage of shooting a short bow like the Troll or its predecessor, the Kestrel. I have owned at least a half a dozen custom recurves and at least that many custom longbows by well known bowyers, all in various special woods, draw weights and lengths, etc. And I've completely enjoyed shooting all of them killed a lot of deer with them so none of them have any fleas on them. But then I ordered a Kestral from Toelke and after shooting it a few times all of the other stuff I owned hit the market and I never looked back. I haven't shot any of Dan's other designs but I wish I had a couple more of his Kestrals or Trolls in vary weights. My current bow is marked 40# but I've shot through does with it at 20 yards so I guess draw weight doesn't matter. That bow is a joy to shoot and I'm very sorry he no longer offers it.
