Without fail every time I hear the line “as long as I’m here no one can hurt you” it makes me tear up, and wanna cry.

I was in a group therapy,when I lived in SF. In this group was one of the rare survivors from Jumping off the Golden Gate.

Billie has helped people through hard times. Reminding them they are not alone. Through depression, night terrors, anxiety, stress, even bad relationships. This is why I love her music. She keeps the emotion in the music. No filter.

The moment I break in this video is the particular visual of Finneas holding his hand out and Billie taking it, then looking at each other and actually smiling,all in UNISON. It gets me every single time. Truly, love and compassion. Great reaction and raw emotions, sending all positive vibes your way

I have struggled with depression since I was 12. I also have anxiety and it can be extremely hard and frustrating. This song has helped me and makes me feel better after listening to it. It's a reminder that we are not alone in these thoughts and feelings. I know being a man it must be very hard because a lot of people see depression as weakness and society has a lot of us believing that men can't show their emotions. I truly think that's bull crap. We are all human with feelings and have the right to express them. Always know that you are never alone and someone always cares even if it may feel like no one does. Stay strong my friend.

I have been there myself, when I was coming out mostly! Got through it, I believe it was my late sister who helped me. I couldn't help but remembering what my sisters death from cancer did to my parents! I couldnt do that to them again! Wow your interpretation of the "would I do it again" lyric was so much different than mine- I heard it as she got so huge so suddenly and she had pretty much every childhood fantasy fulfilled, met all her heros, tons of fans, support from all directions, etc but then there's the harder side of fame. Which gets really hard at times and so she's not sure if had she the option, would she put her work out there and start a career in music again or would she start over and be anonymous and create things only for herself. But that's the way I thought about it because the undertone of fame weighing on her always catches my heart during this song, she's a month younger than me and she has a lot on her shoulders, and has for a while now.

They were both dreams. The one in the lyrics is an accident, since she "thought she could fly,' but it comes to the same, really, because you're right: there's that "knowledge" that it wouldn't matter, and also that everyone would be better off without the burden of you. She has these kinds of dreams, and has been suicidal at times due to not wanting to experience the terror again. She also has dream paralysis, where you think you're awake but the nightmare is still going on. I love the line "Don't want to lie here. But you can learn to." I think she means that she's learning how to endure the terrifying things. Maybe not just dreams. Thanks for the reactions guys. You're amazing in your gentle, deeply caring ways. I'm sorry to admit that your reflections and being triggered (in the gentlest way, I have to say and applaud you for) but I'm trying to say that you made me feel good. I've also had these leanings. This song is amazing. It came on today on my headphones at work. I was bawling. I suffer with depression and anxiety and sometimes it makes you just want it to stop. My favorite line is what Finneas says. “They don’t deserve you.” We often feel like we’re undeserving of love, but we are. Those that don’t care about us don’t deserve us is how it really is.

I really appreciate the way you guys are addressing the music and how your discussing depression, many people suffer and it's not talked about enough and if people can let go for an instance of their own vanity and judgement, many more people can feel valued and loved. I hope the world can get to that point and soon. We all deserve to be heard, seen and cared for regardless of race, age, background or opinion.

Not only is this young man brave for sharing this about himself but in him doing so, he’s going to save lives. Too many times men are told or expected to just suck it up! Depression can’t just be sucked up or put to the side. Mental health issues are judged and labeled by too many. Instead people should do their research and have empathy. “I had a dream I got everything I wanted. It might have been a nightmare for anyone who might care.” This is so real. That moment before the darkness is the most peaceful I have ever been but I also vaguely remember the chaos that ensued as I was being rolled away. However in that darkness my worries faded away and I felt the most peace. I have had that feeling twice in my life. And after both times it felt like “yesterday was a year ago,” it never felt like something I just did. I never felt like I did it. I am not shy to say I have not only stepped to the edge but I have also fallen; in some way I am still falling. I hope I never go back to that place but I suppose I will fail since the lack-of-hope is my companion in both attempts. The strange thing about it all? I am afraid of the permanence of death; I just wish for a day away from me. I keep my humor dark; it’s my therapy, it helps me tell my story without being judged as weak but instead as a dementor.

I wanted to hug you watching... I have had those thoughts as long as I can remember into childhood...but not wanting others to hurt has gave me more reason to not... Stay strong!!! Love and Light!

For me sad songs, movies are a cathartic experience. Sometimes it is easier to feel sadness because of outside events, rather than our own pain.

Hope is what we all need. I have depression so bad & I just live for the hope to get me through.

I had my 1st suicidal thoughts at 15yrs old&what stopped me from doing it was that my mom was a schizophrenic her entire adult life and she always said ever since I was a little girl that losing a child would definitely send her over the edge with her illness and she would never recover from it.When I was 35 I almost succeeded at 3 suicide attempts in 2 months.I thank God for not allowing me to die bc that was soo unfair to my children who were 13&15yrs old.I lost my mother May 2017 very unexpectedly of a heart attack and that was my last suicide attempt. I'm very happy to say after months of therapy and grief counseling bc of my moms death made me want to live&I no longer have ANY suicidal thoughts! I encourage anyone who is going thru suicidal thoughts or a failed suicide attempt to please talk to someone even if u just call the suicide prevention hotline!U are special, AMAZING and u are loved and u will eventually see how amazing life is❤❤❤

Thank you for doing this video and being so open with your thoughts, feelings and experiences. This song really hit home, not as me thinking of suicide or even feeling near it, but me as a mother of a teenage daughter that about 1½ years ago, for the first time, told me how bad she felt. Finally found the words to say that she had been thinking about it when she was about 10-11. It was heartbraking (and right now tears are running, but it's ok) we had a long talk and I had a lot of conversations with her teachers at school and the school psychologist and they all teamed up to help her. She's since been diagnosed with Aspberger, and depression is not uncommon among people with it apparently. We are getting a lot of professional help at this time, and we have become even closer since she opened up about her struggles and I hope she will be able to find someone in her life one day that will support and hold her when she reaches a rough patch, just like you do. Wish the both of you all the love and happiness, and will continue listening to your reactions.

I had an extremely hard period in my life and knew everything was going to be very different. At the time i thought i was in a hole i couldnt crawl out of ever. I felt like my life had become just a burden to everyone around me. I didnt see why i should go on when i could never crawl out. But i just took it day by day and kept fighting and stepping one at a time. It has been 3yrs and looking back, being spiritual, i see a plan in it all. All the bad has been a benefit in some ways. I know going on I will fight knowing every hill and mountain has a down side that will get me where i need to be all the faster. If you have read all of this, i with you the best and all positivity. She always seems so extremely happy. I’m glad she has her brother. I lost my touchstone 20 years ago and my last one 15 years ago. That’s it for me. I’m on my own now. It’s lonely, it’s cold, it’s sad and at times it’s hopeless. But I know life is so short. Especially when you’re approaching 50. It’ll be over before I know it. Until then, there’s always the hope to impact someone’s life. The possibility to be loved or cherished unconditionally again someday.

As long as I can remember, I've thought I was alone in thinking about suicide so much and it made me feel very lonesome but these last few years and especially with all the comments here I know that I'm not alone at all. To answer the question “when do you become suicidal”. When you actually have a plan or start thinking of one. When you get to that point you need to ask for help. Sending love and prayers to anyone experiencing this. Remember you are a warrior and can get through this!

I always saw "Would I do it again?" as referring to the high-profile music career that led to the stressful pressure from everyone "wanting something from her now", hence the "they" of "What would they say instead?" But that's just what I hear.

I’ve broken down about 6-7 times today and I’ve picked up something sharp 3 times....this helped honestly knowing I’m not alone in this game that ppl call life.

I think the reason her brother is going down with her, is because she feels like she's draffing him down with her problems. That's how I perceive it, since I definitely have that feeling, and I know others do too.

I listen to her songs because she is relatable, she sings what my heart wants to say. Thank you Billie.

I have PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, and Schizophrenia. I have alot of suicidal ideation. Have my whole life. Raised really rough and lived a very successful life and continue to but life hurts. It hurts all the time. So I feel you guys. And I am the same way as Russ, I'm always there for other people but its SO much harder for people to reach me. You end up in a pit and have to find your own way out. It's so hard.

Thank you for this video. I myself suffer from depression. I’ve come to a point in my life where I won’t tell the people closest to me because they look at it as if I’m crazy. So instead of feeling judged. Each day I could seem happy on the outside and even nicked named smiley. But inside I feel alone. Those thoughts do cross my mind a lot. But I think about all the people I would hurt if I’d ever done this action. So I keep my faith alive.
