MONTENEGRO 🇲🇪 I SPENT A WEEK IN THE CAPITAL

Being herein the Balkans and former Yugoslavia, I couldn't leave without visiting the beautiful little country of Montenegro. I honestly had no idea what to expect, and was even told by a few travelers to avoid both Podgorica as well as Budva. Luckily, I never list to tourists blindly, as I'm happy I came. Take a look at my week in Montenegro.

Johnny, you need to learn some history! "Half Soviet Yugoslavia" you say. Yugoslavia was NOT a member of the Soviet bloc. Tito broke with the Soviet Union in 1948 and kept Yugoslavia independent. You don't know Yugoslavia, so don't use it as a pejorative word. I visited the country in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, as did millions of foreign tourists.

Yugoslavia wasn't Soviet per se. They were in the non-aligned movement because Tito beat the Germans on his own and weren't in the Warsaw Pact or anything.

@@JohnnyFD That chef/owner is actually my uncle. My father and two uncles have always been passionate about making good authentic & traditional Balkan food. They have been working in what we call a "buregdzinica" since they were kids and to this day they still work with it beside my father. I hope you had a great time there :) ps: buregdzinica is a "cafe" specializing in pita/borek but also selling pastry goodies like cakes and other delicious stuff. and to answer you're question, yes they make more than a hundred bureks when it's on-season.

Hi Johnny 👋🏼🥰♥️. Another great video. Really enjoying learning so much about these countries. The Balkans… very interesting places. As someone who enjoys traveling and history so much, I’m almost embarrassed about how little I know. Especially these areas you’re visiting. Anyway… with that being said. I am absolutely taking it all in. I have to say something about you and animals… when you stopped to feed that sweet doggie. He was so skinny, and so scared. My heart. My heart..💔. Poor baby. You were so sweet to him. And you went looking for him again.. How can I not love that?! I remember seeing a video with you…(I’m forgetting right now where you were). Anyway, you were with your girlfriend at the time. And you had brought in those sweet dogs from the cold and rain. Sitting in the hallway. Taking care of them. That’s when I knew I just adored you. No offense, didn’t care for her so much because she wanted you to put the dogs outside. Sorry but I’m a huge animal lover, and don’t care for people who don’t have a heart for animals… Had to say something about that.. I know.. a bit off subject. Anyway again. Great video. Always look forward to your next adventure! Sending my usual… safe travels and love your way🥰👍🏼👋🏼❤️❤️♥️

Nice video. A couple of comments: the Cyrillic writing is there not because it's Russian but rather Montenegrin. There is no such thing as "Soviet" Yugoslavia - the architecture may be from the Communist times. Montenegro is not in the Euro. They are *using* the euro but are nowhere near being a part of the Eurozone. Many countries are candidates for the EU membership, but there won't be any new members accepted in the foreseeable future (for internal EU reasons).

Budva used to have a lot of seasonal Russian residents. Now that Montenegro is more European leaning, some of them have left. About the property scene in Budva, if you're looking for investments, I heard Budva isn't the best place as there is more flat(ish) land for more condo development. As you can see there were several cranes in the area. Supply easily outstrips demand and I heard building permits are not difficult to obtain. More historic towns like Tivat have house properties and less land for further development, potentially making those areas see their real estate hold up during what seems to be a global recession on the horizon.

you should visit Novi Pazar in Serbia, its an really nice city. i go there almost every year. food is great , very kind people it also has a lot of history. ottomans (Turks) used to live there for a long time. thats why when you go there you see alot of stuff from turkey. if you go there try out their Cevape they are considered one of the best. and also mantije!

I won't visit Serbia as long as their government supports the Ukrainian genocide by Russia.

@@JohnnyFD you have really no idea what you are talking about, just like the rest of your balkan videos unfortunately. I used to really like your content but it has been very lame and uninformed since your balkan visit

@@JohnnyFD Wow.. But it seems that you have no issues visiting the U.S? A country that genocided Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Serbia, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and many more? I was 11 years old when the U.S and NATO bombed my city and most of the casualties were civilians. 2500 civilians. Serbia is the first country in Europe in terms of mortality from malignant tumors as a consequence of the NATO bombing, during which 15 tons of depleted uranium wasdumped on Serbia. You hypocrite.

There is some crazy video of American Foreign legion fighters with Ukraine army in Severodonetsk. The Baltics seem beautiful.

They kept catholic churches (buildings) and expelled Croats that lived there for centuries. They have bombarded Dubrovnik (1991-1995 war) and saying they will build a newer and better one. Nice people indeed.
