This is really helpful. Going through the store gives a helpful visual. I'd be happy to see more of these, even in vlog style and at different stores like Target or dollar stores.
Happy first week of kindergarten, Kylie!!! I hope you all are adjusting well :) Also love to see your thrift store finds. It's so great to remind people that Montessori isn't just expensive trendy furniture - it's a lifestyle!
I love second hand, just a little reminder to be careful what you buy though. Many older, and even some newer items, have lead paint which is very toxic. Lead safe mama has tested a lot of items on her blog you could do a quick search before you buy.
Yes! I love buying breakable 2nd hand. There are always tons of small vases for flower arranging too! Some are pretty wild so I spray paint white. Also remember, when you are done with these items… donate them back!
Oh almost a kind of empty nest! Hope it means much more “me time,” I hope! 😊 Had a tip to pass on regarding glass (maybe ceramic too?): some vintage/old kinds may have lead from the way they were made back in the day…. Love the ideas, thanks for posting!! Will have to browse our thrift stores soon with these in mind.
Aww I love this it was kind of like a vlog feel, I hope your girls are having wonderful experiences at school and what a great idea everything you showed I got flooded with ideas especially with studding curriculum and activity planning right now.
I LOVE this!!! I thrift every weekend and I’ve been practicing all I’ve learning with Montessori from you with my 2 year old niece. Edit: also I would love for you to make this a series! I think the knowing what to look for portion is where I struggle
Loved this! What a beautiful thrift store with affordable options and endless possibilities. It reminded me of TJ Maxx, I miss the states! The practical life options were the best. I wish I thrifted more in my daughter’s earlier years but even going along with you on this shopping excursion, I was able to gather a multitude of activity ideas: origami (which I loved as a kid, thank you for the reminder!), sink or float, schema-related activities, sifting, pouring, sorting, pretend play, etc. Awesome content. Thank you!
Great video! Thrift shopping is my fav! I’ve actually been cutting back on it lately because I always find so many things-so this video gave me my thrift shopping fix without bringing home any more “stuff”! 😜 But seriously, as you mention in the video, there are so many great finds if you know what you’re looking for. 😊 Fun video! Thanks for sharing!
Love this video! I’ve thrifted almost all of my materials and I try to encourage moms to do the same. There are such wonderful options at thrift stores!
Thank you for this vid!! I’ve definitely noticed that thrift stores have a great selection of wooden items because they are generally older when it was more common for things to be made of wood instead of plastic
Love a bargain! In the UK we have tons of thrift/charity shops. Thank you and hope Kylie has an amazing 1st day. My niece had her first day of middle school yesterday and they kept them locked down after school due to crazy Colorado storms! 😳
I am always on Facebook marketplace to find some stuff to use for my LG. Found a single bedside table which I am busy turning into a mini hanging closet for my LG!
I thrift as many Montessori toys as I can 😁 It’s a great option since designated Montessori company’s can be sooo expensive 😓😓 You look great by the way 😉
This was a great video! So helpful to hear your suggestions for different items :) Will you be making a tour of the girls outdoor/backyard space and ideas of how to involve them more outside? I’m building a mud kitchen and trying to think of what areas I can include for them in the backyard (sensorial, practical life, transferring / pouring, open ended play, you get the idea lol) so any suggestions would be super great and I’d love to see what you have set up! My kiddos are 27mo, 15mo and another joining this winter
That is a really good thrift store! I have also had good luck finding many similar items at our thrift store and on Facebook marketplace. You gave me some new ideas too!
Thanks for posting this video. Nice to see such a nicely organized thrift store. Can you recommend some thrift stores in the US? I never know where to go. I end up going to TJ max, Marshalls, or Ross. Not exactly thrift stores.
I have a question, my niece keeps closing herself behind doors then gets upset when she can't get out. Her father thinks that telling her "ok bye!" Is magically going to teach her not to close herself behind doors. Is there another way?
Is it possible for a 7 month old to be trying to reach his "maximum effort" ? It seems like he gravitates to the biggest or heaviest thing within reach to manhandle it to his mouth 😆. If so, any suggestions to add to our next thrift stroll? Also any recommendations on where to read up on the schemas? Hoping to read a bit about them to be able to recognize them as he increases his mobility and skills.
Yes, definitely! And it will only get more intense as he starts walking and becoming even more mobile! 😄 I would be on the lookout for some heavier stools and ottomans for him to pull up on and push around! Or a small wagon that you can load with heavy books or jugs of water! 😉
@@HapaFamily Oh excellent! We'll start saving some milk jugs then, that's a great idea. A wagon walker is definitely on his Christmas list. I don't know if I have seen that video but I will find it. Thank you!
Sometimes plastic can be preferable for trays and things like that where water or other “messy” materials might be involved. :) We do always prefer natural materials, but a little bit of plastic here and there won’t hurt. Everything in moderation! 🙃
@@HapaFamily I will keep this in mind! But absolutely no battery operated baby toys, right? Those dont provide any room for growth, but are simply entertainment like a television is?
@@arabicinamerica2454 this is not necessarily true. Use your judgement. There is no Montessori license being revoked from you or "rule police" if you do something not 100% by the book. Don't stress yourself out.
