Claudio Monteverdi - Opera : La favola d'Orfeo Savall, Zanasi, Figueras, Mingardo, Abete, Turk, Vargas, Bettini, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona Tocata Ritornello Dal mio Permesso amato #Monteverdi #Orfeo #Savall
This is magnificent. You must watch the entire opera on DVD. Yes, it is a totally different style, one which inspires contemplation as much as musical enjoyment. Jordi Savall is a master conductor. Slow down, pay attention, and let this take you to another time on this planet and in our civilization
ORPHEUS, "Orfeo," is one of my favorite operas. The opening to Savall, in particular the lone mezzo-soprano figure regally attired in gold colors, playing the part of Eurydice, is as inscrutable as it is MAJESTIC.
Few persons remember that L'Orfeo is considered by musicologists as the world's first Italian opera of any moment or repute and Monteverdi, the progenitor of Opera.
I enjoyed it a lot. it was like being in the XVII watching the begining of the opera. The singers is brillant. Sang like in those times! The Bl Canto stayed more than 100 years later!!!
Una emocionante pieza antigua reinterpretada en nuestra epoca, para darnos una muesra de la calidad musical de aquella preteritas epocas. Y ademas interpretada por el maesro Savall lo que le imprime mejor calidad aun.
Wow, just wow. I would give almost anything to have been at this performance. No one comes close to Monteverdi. This tune in particular...I encourage anyone to listen to the Vespers if they haven't.
The first great opera written by a master of both Renaissance and Baroque music. This is the new style, as Monteverdi called it, "stile moderno", or "seconda prattica."
The house and staging give this whole production an ethereal, otherworldly feel. The sense of drama is intense, but well played from an historical context! From the rusticated stage to her antiquated pale makeup to the luscious folds in her dress. This is high art on steroids.
@@tsirtosky1439 I'm pleased to hear! 😄 Quite similar to you I suppose, I've had some ups and downs for sure but I reckon that things are going well these days :)
@@kangaroo967 What prompted you to reach out? I need somebody in real life who used Etch-a-Sketch as their social media name. Do we know each other? although I'm on the brink of a lot of great new things I struggle with ending the old things and the transition is quite scary.
Beautiful! I would love to see and hear how Savali handles the final scenes in "Poppea" - the soldiers' laughing chorus through the duet "Pur ti miro."
Savall y Le Concert des Nations son, hoy por hoy, de las mejores instituciones musicales. Son músicos fascinantes y sus interpretaciones son brillantes. Y bueno, el tratamiento de Monteverdi es barroquísimo (si cabe la expresión...) ¡BRAVO!

@KonradlaTaccola Actually, Dal mio Permesso" is correct. In mythology there were two rivers coming from Mount Elicona (sorry I know the names in Italian only), Permesso and Olmeios. To drink from these rivers was to gain artistic inspiration, so it makes sense that she would say, basically, "Coming down here after drinking from my beloved Permesso (and therefore now inspired), I am here." The original score also has "Permesso."
@0casteloencantado0 Because my friend Music as any art involves originality and such magnificent entrance separates itself from all presentations you can possibly see in a orchestra. So, by all means the combination of Entrance, and instrumentation (originality and appearance) and the music itself makes an amazing combination for all to "SEE" and hear.
