You are half right and wrong. Monty was a monster no doubt about that. his childhood made him like that. To the fear of coming out gay, to his shit of a home. I don’t feel sympathy but see stress.
I give the writers credit with this character. After what he did to Tyler, I HATED him. I couldn't get that scene out of my mind for days. IT WAS TRAUMATIC. BUT, then Winston came onto the scene and changed everything! BY THE TIME IT ENDED, I was rooting for them!
What I really hate about 13rw is that they had so much potential with Monty. He was genuinely interesting at first but they kept shoving his bad homelife in our faces. Show don’t tell at its finest. Also his dad being awful doesn’t make his actions inherently more grey, rape cannot be justified. They refused to learn this lesson with Bryce and so they did with Monty.
Yet still, dealing with personal struggles of owns identity and having a abusive parent is not an excuse to act like a complete asshole towards others. I could care less about Monty and his bad upbringing but I still hated him for what he did to Tyler.
@@isaiahsturgis5037 yeah that was what I was trying to say, sorry if I worded it weirdly. But I do believe he had some interesting parts to his character. Instead, they decided to go with the route that every frustrated, horribly bigoted man is secretly in the closet, which is not only overplayed but offensive too
You know, for Monty to be homophobic, he projects a lot of his sexuality on to people. Like anytime he has something to say to someone, it’s always so homosexual situation. It’s giving Hidden Fantasies.
😮😮😮😮You know an actor is great when they make you literally hate the character that they play because their portryal imitates what people are like in real life. Meanwhile I've been seeing timothy in interviews and he seems like the most gentle and kind soul. I had a hard time stomching the idea of the kind of person monty was...especially after the bathroom scene with tyler. That act of violence against another person was the lowest of lows. What blew my mind was the secret that he kept about being gay himself. I didnt expect that at all 😮😮😮😮
Same. But at least Bryce admitted that what he did was wrong and wanted to change. Meanwhile, this bish does absolutely fucked up stuff, never apologizes, doesn't even think about what he did and excepts a person he horribly traumatized to just "get over it"
Obviously, I don't condone what Monty did. However,I think if he grew up in a different environment, things might've turned out differently. Especially with him, Tyler, & Winston.
Monty is complex 😩 like morally you have to hate him because he’s a horrible person, but near the end of his story you can’t help but to feel some degree of sympathy towards him.
@blackrose8418 no, he got shanked after Tyler finally told what Monty did to him. The prisoners in jail misunderstood what happened and thought he was a pedophile.
