Couple of fun facts to tag on to this episode: 1) Logan's axe is actually a reforged blade of Khorne he took off of a Chapion of Khorne after his weapon broke in combat. 2) Fenris has also been seiged by the ecclesiarchy during whats now known as "The Fenris Incident" on grounds of Heresy. 😅

Space wolves are surprisingly based and kind of chads for telling the inquisition to piss off. The Emperors gift book is actually really good and I do recommend it to anyone who’s interested in the months of shame. It also has a cannon FENRISIAN MUSCLE MOMMY INQUISITOR.

I feel like you guys overlooked logan sprinting in TERMINATOR armor. This was considered an impossible feat until he did it out of pure anger.

It is important to note that the space wolves never complied to the Codex Astartes. No break up of the legion. It is REALLY vague how many there are but it is often implied that each great company itself is at least chapter sized if not much more. There are for sure a TON more space wolves then a chapter.

That bit about realizing how badass military grandparents is sooooo real. My grandpa was a fighter pilot and I remember seeing someone literally fall off his bike to salute him on base.

Dark Angles once tried to tell people they were followed around by xenos shortstacks. They were flooded with request to join the fleet as chapter serfs the very next day. This was also added to the list of things the lion's sons don't speak to others about.

I absolutely love how he SPRINTS IN TERMINATOR ARMOR. You know...the suit of armor that was originally designed for durability and mining in inhospitible environments, and as a result NOT designed to allow the wearer to move at more than a brisk walk?

Think Bricky left out how when Grimnar was cutting people in half in an instant or was sprinting and cutting people down he was in full Terminator armor.

Kyle being a "normal" person gives everything so much more weight and meaning. If Kyle had been an agent of chaos then you would be like oh this was just a normal tuesday. For the writers to make things more grey really adds to the story.

I think the reason Grimnar was able to cut the Grandmaster of the Grey Knights in half not only because he's fast as shit, but because the Grandmaster knew what he deserved while Logan spoke, and accepted his fate as according to tradition.

Just based on the name of that cardinal, I'm guessing it is based upon real-life Cardenal Cisneros, a prominent religious figure of 15th-16th century Spain. Verbatim from Wikipedia, Cisneros was described as "stern, fanatical and inflexible even by the harsh standards of his time, with a confidence that became at times overbearing, he carried through what he had decided to be right, with little regard for the convenience of others or for himself.". Which fits right with the 40k Inquisition, one could say.

My favorite line was Bjorn,. after stopping the conflict on the bridge, starts to walk away, musing on this is why Leman Russ hated teleportation so much

Every time I hear about Armageddon I think about Helsreach. If a video on the Black Templars is ever done I imagine an episode about Reclusiarch Grimaldus would revolve almost entirely around his time spent on Armageddon defending the Hive City and aiding the Celestial Lions against Inquisitorial sabotage.

I just read Emperor's Gift a few weeks ago on Audible and it's pretty good. I wasn't a big fan of the wolves until I heard this story. My favorite part is when Bjorn calls Inquisitor a remembrancer. Inquisitor Kyle asks "what is that?" and Bjorn basically tells him "A conniving little shit that followed us around who thought his words were more important than our deeds. That is what you remind me of."

so... I made a custom Azrael modal for a friend. the new modal had just been released and he loved the look of it compared to an old metal on he got off eBay, so I offered to kitbash something for him. Why do I tell you this? Well you see the new Azrael modal has a watcher on the base. I do not play dark angels so I had no bits that would work, However, I did have a metal Azrael with several bits already sawed off of him for the conversion. so after cutting the space marine in half, I sculpted on the head and shoulders of a watcher, to create the glorified base decoration. The only draw back to this was when viewed directly from behind the watcher looked very... wide... like wide Putine wide. Like Texas 4x4 wide... like the American Canada border wide... 6 lane freeway wide if you will... We dubbed this cursed gremlin, The Wider In The Dark. and the new poster reminded me of this, due to brikies description.

I do agree to an extent with PancreasNoWork's take that it is so stupid that there are no further repercussions for this. I mean, the Badab War was fought for less.

in "The Fall of Cadia" book there is an Inquisitor who also is like "we have to contain the corruption!" and tries to stop the evacuation. The Guard is like "you should be careful, there are still enemy snipers in the area." and then just shoot the Inquisitor.

Ok, so the Red Hunters. In essence they're kind of like the Deathwatch and Grey Knights in that they're a space marine force that works for the Inquisition, but they largely seem to work with the Ordo Hereticus (though I don't think they're officially the militant wing of the hereticus, that role seems to mostly be handled by the sisters). They're basically kept around as Inquisitorial attack dogs and are routinely mind wiped. They accompanied the chapters who got sent on penitent crusades after the badab war to keep an eye on them and ensure their loyalty without interfering (though they would wind up stepping in once or twice). TL;DR, think like the Minotaurs but for the Inquisition instead of the High Lords, so them joining in to fight the Space Wolves makes sense.

of course the Grey Knights get along with the Inquisition. as much as you could say the Custodes are the Emperor's legion, the Grey Knights would be *Malcador's* legion, and since he also laid the foundations of the Inquisition...

On top of the grey knights and Deathwatch the inquisition also has the Red hunters. who are actually also involved (though barely) in the war of armageddon and months of shame. They also seem to be the inquisitons own personal space marines.

Been awhile, catch up and take a break and then there's even more content to listen to! Dunno if that poster is new or old I don't remember but mhm...your artists are bang on doing an excellent job.

I find it funny that you made DK go through EVERY space marine chapter and leaving Thousand Sons, his (fav chapter back in the day) as last chapter to go, and even that we don't know when that will happen.

AKSHUALY I'm pretty sure in the tabletop right now the Grey Knights are pretty mid tier not garbage. Also pretty sure Draigo leading a paladin squad could dumpster Angron with that Anti psyker 2+ sword and giving the bonus to charge out of deep strike. And Voldus could probably slap his tits around too with Hammer Aflame.

The Red Hunters are one of those weird chapters who seemingly only exist for a single purpose, and theirs is working with the Inquisition. That's why their chapter symbol has an Inquisitorial rosette. But unlike the Grey Knights and Deathwatch, who are specifically indoctrinated and trained to cope with the horrifying stuff the Inquisition requires them to fight, the Red Hunters are just a normal Astartes chapter. So, to preserve their sanity, the Inquisition typically mindwipes them after big engagements.

The Grey Knights are for sure Son's of Magnus, look what happened to that Chapter Master's back after he met Logan.

A strike cruiser or battlebarge won’t last long against a dedicated Imperial Navy cruiser or battleship. That being said, if a Space Marine strike cruiser or battle barge is able to deploy its complement of Space Marines in a boarding action against a cruiser or battlecruiser, the the latter is truly boned. In summary, a Space Marine vessel’s primary offensive weapon is the Space Marines themselves, while as dedicated warships use their much heavier guns and armor to slug it out with an enemy vessel.

As a Gk player, let me add some stuff for context: 1. Armagedon were such a high treat situation that even Gk's prognosticars could not forsee or even notice it . Gk got to know about the situation because SW sent a ship to ask for help in Titan. 1.1 GK Did not had a proper force to send to armagedon, once they are allways spread thin through the galaxy. They forged a "Ragged Brotherhood" made of members of all 8 brotherhood and some retired marines. There were no grand master avaliable, so a Brother Captain lead the force. 2. Gk and SW had a conference before the battle against Angron and them *both* agreed that only the civil population would be spared, if they could be keep out of chaos exposure. SW changed their mind in the last minute about the troops and decided to protect them. 2.1 The GK force had one job in the battle, banish Angron. All the Ragged Brotherhood fought the dark primarch and they won. At a great cost, they mannage to reenforce and bring victory to the SW. The GK that broke Angrons blade recieved the nick name of Blade Braker from the SW and the Captain leading the ragged brotherhood were the one who bannish Angron. 3. It's kind of hard to say that "there was no sign of chaos infection", once we are talking about a guard trooop that just faced a huge chaos infestation. Also, they saw a primarch, and a chaos one. The chance to spread chaos cults are really real in this instances. 4. When the guard's barge mannage to scape, it was the GK ships that intercepts them in their destiny planet. However, i'm quite sure there were not exterminatus, even though there were city nuking. 5. Grand Master Joros indeed ordered to firing at SW ships, but it was not in a arranged meeting. It was due to SW ships were making the interception of the guards barges too slow and unviable, which was true. Grimnar got angry because of the chapter loss and he himself breaks the armistis laws and out right kills a grand master in the middle of a parley. The SW procced to flee via deep strike but the present GK prevents it with their psikic power. SW then kills some more justicars (the leaders of GK squads) so they flee. 6. Kysnaros is not absolutly crazy in the book. Is more like a pragmatic leader. All this info came from the book "The Emperor's Gift". After reading it, I got pretty disappointed with every party in this conflict: 1. GK were unsufferbly passive and submissive to inquisition. I've never seen enother book with that kind of attitude coming from the knights of titan. 2. SW are just a bunch of hypocrites crying about honor. They broke their word so many times and then procced to blame someone else. 3. Inquisition could have found a deccent middle ground with Bjorn, bot noooo. It had to have a penitent crusate. In conclusion, this is called "Months of Shame" because everyone was wrong and dealt poorly with the situation, thus had a poor result out of if, thus had Months of shame. And I conclude my Ted talk that was stored in my soul, since I read the book. Thank you DK, Bricky and Shy for covering this quite iconic event

I read The Emperor's Git recently, and I love the Grey Knights and Hyperion so much. Also, the Grey Knights very much hated the acts they had to perform, they were bound by agreements outside of their generation to serve the inquisition. It sucked.

You missed the part where Logan cut the Grand master down and said. "You can find peace with the floor."

Inquisition: "You better do what we say or else we will erase you" Space wolves: "NUH UH" Inquisition: "The FUCK you mean 'NuH-uH' "

A couple other things I want to point out about the Months of Shame: 1) To kill the Grand Master of the Grey Knights, Grimnar sprinted *IN TERMINATOR ARMOR*, a feat which, at the time, was thought IMPOSSIBLE. Usually terminators are deployed as slow, lumbering, damage sponges to spearhead front assaults, or more tactically, use their teleport to strike key targets. Point is, in neither scenarios they are meant to be swift, they are meant to absorb shitloads of damage, and pack just as much punch to dish out. Only thing that makes them a good ambush unit is their teleport homer, that gives them any sense of speed/tactical flexibility beyond just being a slow, tanky moving target. And Grimnar said "fuck all that", and actually moved with a speed that armor wasn't designed to allow you to achieve. No wonder the Grand Master was completely blindsided by the assault: it wasn't thought possible. Maybe only thanks to psychic powers you'd be able to achieve something similar, but Grimnar never had any. 2) The Months of Shame has been regarded as one of the biggest Imperium internals wars, since the Horus Heresy, maybe not by its sheer scale, but in its implication. Not only loyal space marines were yet again at each other throats, but an entire first founding chapter's home world was under siege, causing massive casualties on both sides. If Kysnaros wasn't put down there and then, things would have kept escalating to a full scale war, spanning multiple systems. Kysnaros would have retreated to gather more allies, not just the other Ordos, but other Inquisition loyal space marine chapters, Grey Knights, Death Watch, Minotaurs, and more. Meanwhile, as word spread out of the conflict, other first founding chapters wouldn't have wasted a second to side with the Wolves to dethrone the power hungry inquisition that had been on everyone's ass for millennia now. Thanks to the reckless actions of 1 man, the Imperium came this close from full, blown out, full scale civil war. This is counting Kysnaros dodging out of the way of all assassinations attempt by the other agents of the Inquisition itself, of course. 3) I'm pretty sure Grey Knights didn't leave on "bad terms" with the Wolves. The Wolves certainly could still covet a measure of distrust, even tho they still felt great respect for the Knights, since they too were a massive instrument in the defense of Armageddon, but the Grey Knights know full well they fucked up, not for nothing they named the conflict "the Months of Shame". They look at this part of history with great anguish and regret, like a stain on their chapter's honor.

The best part not talked about is Bjorn calling Logan Grimnar a young pup and then going full Doc McCoy about having to use a teleporter for the first time and hating it.

Fun fact about the Nurgle infestation mentioned in the Inquisition apology part: One these Guardsmen was back from fighting the Death Guard, his last action before being sent to Iax for medical care was running up to a Chaos Marines, putting the Barrel of his Lasgun in the CSM’s neck joint and unloading his power cell in the traitor’s head. Man had balls of steel and he still caused the whole Plague Wars to happen…

Inquisitor: i am going to eat a cat. Grimnar: that is disgusting and (in my opinion) kinda cruel. Please don't do it again. Inquisitor: i will eat another.

Unfortunatally for the Grey Knights, they forgot two things about themselves. First: they are Astates, really beefed up ones, but marines none the less. Second: Due to the magnus shard being fused with their first chapter master, they are technically thousands sons, and guess what the Space Wolves fancy themselves specialists in killing?
