I've been on the Montreal Metro before! I went on it for the first time this summer. It had this door chime which I love! The door chime wasn't actually a thing made from scratch, it was a byproduct from the MR-73 because of the power converter to prevent power surges. The STM tried to fix that, but they couldn't. Later on, the STM thought that they should make a door chime out of that byproduct. When I first went on it, I did not know that.
@3:32 I remember when the brand new MR-73 trains came out in 1976 those seats where padded and lush, with an orange color to match the walls. And there were many more seats than today. And @5:12 you can actually see the camera bouncing up and down because of out-of-balance tires on those trains today. Back then, you'd never see that because trains were much better maintained. The Montreal Metro system ain't what it used to be.
Late reply but padded seats are not a good idea in a transit system given they'll get dirty easily, and more seats restrict the capacity of the train. The Mr73 bounces more because the suspension is 50 years old, not because the tires are "out-of-balance" as you've made up. The metro still uses the same rigorous maintenance standards it did. You just can't stop age from catching up to stuff.
