Here is Montreal's opinion on the new Quebec Charter, which aims to ban any religious symbols in public institutions. Follow us on facebook and twitter! ChroniclesMTL ChroniclesMTL
Masha Allah great idea to get views of the public. But just a reminder: Brother when you are speaking to sisters/women LOWER your gaze, not stare deep into their eyes, like WTfatwa?
Woody Wood obviously when you want to enforce people on how or how not to wear that's not giving them freedom to choose rather you are choosing whatever YOU desire. So if that what Quebec would be then it shouldn't be called a free state but rather a totalitarian state. Stop deceiving yourself.
That's a very fair question and definitely everyone's opinion matters in the end for us :). We did and when we were editing the video we realized it was a bit awkward with the whole English to French switch. Our target was the wider RU-vid audience consisting of English speaking people to a majority. Subtitles could have been an alternative it takes time though. It might look bias so I see what you mean. We still have the footage if you are interested, you will find a very interesting pattern.
and i really don't get it! people can walk half naked on road, and they are having problems with people who are covered up or wearing hijab!? that's really messed up! If she wants to band all religious signs and stuff, why doesn't she also band other signs such as gay pride, etc? that is also a way of expressing one's identity! It's the most ridiculous thing ever!
it does not bans. everybody will be free to wear religious symbol whereever he/she want to. But for the people who work for the government, they're asked not wearing it during the work. I don't see any dictature in this. Some people does. But they're wrong, take tourself a moment to see what's happening in Rwanda, Congo, Irak maybe Russia or north korea and you will see that Quebec is very tolerant, open minded and a territory of free. This is the whole point. We don't want the religion to tell us what to do becausse they did it too many long in the past.
Woody Wood My friend first of all I don't really get why you brought up random countries lol, and regarding whether it is a government or non-government it doesn't really matter because, as a Muslim person, he or she are doing this in order to follow what God ordered so in other words who are they to tell us what to wear or what to believe? And maybe Christianity had issues with societies not only in Quebec but in every Christian country but in an Islamic state (Caliphate) Muslims never had an issue with the Caliph or the laws, so we can't compare Christianity/the church relationship with the society Islam's relationship with society.
