I'm sure this will be a fitting tribute to David Wyatt. At this point I was ready to back this kickstarter before I even knew who's films you were doing. You never disappoint.
You do amazing work. I’m really looking forward to seeing this and yes, I will pitch in the next few days. I really only know Monty Banks as an actor from (clears throat) “Chasing Choo-Choos” and as support in a few Arbuckle films. Thank you so much, my Raymond Griffith set from Ben Model should be coming anyway and now this is announced. Good times!
First of all, my heartfelt condolences to the loss of your friend and collaborator. I’m so sorry. I’m also very glad you are carrying on with the important and much appreciated work that you two have become known for. Once again, as with your previous projects, you can definitely count me in. And, I gotta say (and I may have said this before) that your videos are the best, like watching a mini Robert Youngson comp but even funnier! One thing - if I may, I’d like to plead that, if any of these films are going to be done at speeds other than 24fps, that they be done as interlaced (1080i) and not progressive (1080p) in order to avoid repeated frames which cause horrifically annoying jerky-motion artifacts during playback. So many silent films on Blu have been gimped due to this “progressive-is-better-no-matter-what” nonsense. If it’s 24fps, by all means 1080p. If not, for the love of Zeus please make it 1080i. Thank you for your kind consideration, and best of luck with your Monty project, which will no doubt have us laughing all the way to the Banks! (I know, I know, that was terrible, yikes. Looking forward to this, Dave, and once again, condolences on your friend and partner in crime. I am making a request that I'm sure all of your backers will back me on... One or two (or more) Dave Glass commentaries, please. Seriously. Your knowledge and wit would add so much to this release. So make it a Pretty Please.
Received my copy the other day and got through the first disc so far. Highly enjoyable. The treasure trove of familiar faces at the beginning of the disc was a true treat as was getting a genuine Arbuckle Comique short I’ve never seen. The LKO stuff was truly surreal in parts. When we’re getting into official starring vehicles, it’s fascinating watching him develop and I look forward to where he’ll go on disc two. Some of the cartoonish hunting gags feel like silent comedy comfort food - I swear this stuff turned up in Stooge shorts. That fragment of Monty shaving on his bike while going to work was a riot. Again, really looking forward to disc two and thank you Dave for all your hard work. It’s much appreciated. - Doug Sarnecky
