“Rest is for the weak”, “Rise and grind”, “You’ll sleep when you're dead”. Guess what, folks, this is what we call Toxic Work Culture. DHH is famous for advocating for a calm office culture. It’s only natural to be worried for the future of your business, but there’s better ways to steer the ship than with an iron fist. DHH is here to answer your critical questions on how to manage your business through a time of unprecedented anxiety, without the BS.

Wonderful interview. DHH is indeed a great human. A very clear thinker - and he's 100% write on the issue with some founders having very narrow cultures. Even if we forget the human aspect of that, it can end up being counter-productive because it's a limiter regarding imagination and problem solving. Christoph Janz is one of the best VCs in the business. 2 founders I've interviewed have sung his praises. One of several brilliant sessions in #SaaStockRemote. I had fun coming in at the end to have a bit of banter. They could entertain for an hour easily. #14MoS

Wow great interview. Really interesting point specifically mentioning Adam Smith's works and a concept of "classical old school capitalism", in comparison to our modern day notions.

With capitalism make sense work just 40Hours a week a still have a nice live. In socialism there is no way to be in a happy place no matter how many hours you work except if you are part of the comunist party oligarcy. Clasic Liberalims show the best way to approach to a nice live an accomplish your goals.

You're conflating socialism and communism, and completely skip over the point DHH made, that these comparisons are irrelevant. You don't need to follow an ideology, you take into account what humans need (because companies are made of humans) and build from there. That's the whole point of this discussion.

its not a choice it is personality nature, some people are workaholic it is their nature they are not making this for a specific reason, they don't blame you for not working too hard, so you also should not blame them for working too hard. it was their choice to gamble their time for work success and they will keep making their choice its their nature
