I can smell the funk through my phone, my head didn’t stop bobbing the entire song. I remember seeing this video about 10 years ago and it still sounds just as good as it did then.
As soon as he started with that talk box I was transported into a land of funky where the trees danced and sang and the ground was made of colors. There I hung out until morning with George Clinton and Bootsie Collins. Funkadelic.
Listen to the bands magic beans or octave cat .SEE THEM LIVE WHEREVER YOU CAN. This funky music exists. You gotta ask the right wizards and take the right side quests ;) also the Floozies are amazing
I'm a Rock and Blues guitarist, and I'm not much into keyboards. . . or this style of music, but this guy's chops are so wicked I can't help but be impressed! I was just looking at various Talk Boxes and ended up here. Geez, this guy is fantastic!
It's been more than ten years since the first time I watched this video, and you are still the one who crosses my mind when I think of talkbox. And today I knew that you were a bass player through the comment on other video.
My god the real music is back. Kick it. I just can't sitt too this funky music. Goosebumps all over. We want more. Can you do a five minute jam sir. It's like God sent you down to let people dance and enjoy some great talkbox funk.
Finally some funky action music! Searching RU-vid for exiting keyboard music I've found a lot of "knob twiddlers" letting the machine drone on and on as they constantly adjust their little knobs, never hitting any keys. You're creating actual MUSIC with your gear, congratulations!
mixed opinion, i really like autotune, it was just over-used for a year or three, so people got fatigued. sort of like disco, disco can be cool, but it was everything 78 -81, people didnt want any more of it

@nujttabutta1 thanks man, I grew up in NY state but I'm on the west coast now in Portland. I bass bass, guitar, and some drums too, got a couple of groups here I'm playing with right now like Excellent Gentlemen and Tony Ozier and the Doo Doo Funk All Stars, doing talkbox on the road with Juno What?! and trying to stay busy with music. OMG here I was trying to explain to someone what a talkbox is, which nowadays can only be done through video as every schoolboy knows (literally), then I happen upon this diamond of a track. Holy mutsknukker what a groove.
Brother, I'm overflowing with thanks for your kindness. My talkbox patch is something I tweaked and modified out of one of the presets. Synced oscillators, saw wave, open filter frequency with low resonance, little bit of glide. The pitch wheel is a whole step bend and the mod wheel is a light vibrato for that vocal "Roger" sound.
@Gigler43 build your own patch with a saw wave form, open filter no resonance, little bit of portamento. For that vocal vibrato on the mod wheel, you want to set your lfo destination to pitch and source to the bottom left triangle wave. Adjust amount and rate so that when the mod wheel is all the way up it gives a gentle vibrato mimicking vocals. Put your pitch bend range at a whole step for guitar bends. Good luck
