Once you start listening/watching Moon Hooch you just can't stop! What a great set and the energy between the guys is just as powerful as their music. Long Live Moon Hooch!
I miss James man, he was the secret sauce. Edit: Just saw that James is releasing some new music on January 22nd called 'the evolution of life forms on earth', pretty hyped.
Ethan is good. Like a metronome! But James had the secret ingredient! I miss his grooves and breaks and dubstep-ish lines. And cymbals on snare, tom etc. I'm glad James is doing well, that he found love and is doing what he loves...
James was NOT the secret sauce. band sounds great with or without him. the boys are creating some awesome new music and the new drummer is totally holding it down. get over it, guys... things change... move on
kill dem wit it! seriously this is so good... it's impressive to see you maintain the quality from your last Paste studio concert.. both of these are outrageously good
I mean I know it's not James but the new drummer is pretty good, I think he fits their groove just as well as James did. Come on guys, we let go of Leo P from Lucky Chops and when we were still sore, Buyo left too. We can deal with change right?
He sucks compared to James. No complexity, no fire, and his grooves don’t make appropriate space for the melodies. James is uniquely talented, they will never come close to getting a drummer close to his ability. Been drumming for years and play multiple instruments btw.
this music is GREAT and yet here everyone is just hating on the new drummer. he's fuckin' holding it down though. be glad the band is still together. they sound amazing. I like the direction of this brasshouse more than Zooz evolution so far. keep it coming boys! awesome performance. feel the love 9:19
I feel the same, bands evolve and the members change. So much negativity in the world already and people feel the need to bring it here, even with this great music.
You should have seen the one before that. Easily in my top three drummers of all time, and I'm a drummer. He brought something to that band that is just gone now. Tiny desk concert will show you exactly what I'm saying.
More focus on the great music, less on James leaving. Bands evolve and members often leave, that's just music. Still so much to love here, why be negative instead of enjoying the music? And if you don't enjoy it maybe keep it to yourself instead of bringing others down.
After the 'Keep It Moving' I would like them to play the new song they played in Los Angeles (I don't know what the name is). It's a great song and makes a perfect transition.
the one you may be referring to in the LA recording is called "Brothers" they've been playing it at all their love shows, and I was hoping it would be on the Life on Other Planets album, but it wasnt :/ its sick though. its the bari with a cone and the Bass
you can hear mike start to run out of breath towards the end of nonphysical lmaooo,, great job as always though, bass sax is a pain in the ass to play, especially for the type of music they're playing. i'd love to see them live again, but of course corona has to get in the way, so
I was distracted by 9:30 guns but you guys are right. What is goin on? Maybe it is the og drummer just with a haircut and on ludes man. But those crazy eyes are not there and I miss that next level matrix stare he had. Not hatin though cuz they thoroughly rock!
Comentário de brasileiro raramente passa do nível dãããã. Sabe falar foda, muito foda e morre aí. Brasileiro tá fudido mesmo. E vai piorar. Vem mais irmãos petralha aí.
@@xrmarty2005 Wenzl made a video on Insta about it; long story short James wasn't getting along with Mike and instead of working it out he left the band
@@jaredspry9452 Awww too bad, I like James, but yeah, I can see personalities clashing after a while. Mike seems a bit too, ummm, "intense" at times.... Wishing them all luck.
Wenzyl takes about how James didn’t like Michael. James wanted to get a new sax player but Wenzyl would rather get a new drummer than sax player. Also something about their contract. James left and said he quit because he wasn’t included in the contract. Wenzyl has to make a new contract because it’s now it’s just the two of them. Wenzyl had to make a new contract because James left.
James had mad groove and improv skills and kept things interesting...No offence to the new drummer but he feels like a metronome....Regardless great performance as always!!
funny how, when people talk about Dave Grohl for instance, being a metronome is the highest compliment you can give a drummer, but suddenly you're using it as an insult just because you don't like the new drummer? he's doing a great fuckin job. no offense but your ability to judge music is shit lol...
That is actually a profound complement. In highly syncopated jazz, if the drummer keeps you grounded, that’s exactly what you want. And he has plenty of syncopated pieces here and there, listen for them, but remember the mantra of the great Bernard Purdie: “ALWAYS know where the one is!”
This new drummer is awesome, but James was the man. :( I think something that would help would be to bring the drums out in the mix on this video more, but the bottom line is that the kit is a different animal, and just a lot darker than James' kit, comparatively. James was always chasing that trashy sound that blended so well with the brass.
this mix sounds fantastic. I dunno what you're talking about lol... you're making up excuses to hate on the new drummer even though he's holding the fuck down, doing a great job with the timing changes and tempo progressions
I swear he just tries to see how many times he can play the same fill in a single song. James kept things super interesting all of the time, I was at a show where James was soloing and he actually made the crowd dance with just drums, some of the most creative playing I’ve ever heard. He was an irreplaceable member and the defining ingredient in Moon Hooch as far as I’m concerned, crazy eyes and all.
you guys are pathetic. judging someone from the sidelines even though you could never do what they do... the new drummer is fire. doesn't mean you can't miss James but stop pretending he had some kind of secret weapon and be happy the band is still together. James was different but he wasn't any better than the new guy. grow up, kids
Been playing drums six years. James (their last drummer) is one of my favourite drummers. But this new drummer is veery tight and I would not call him average, why would moon hooch pick an average drummer when they r so good?
