I really liked this episode And the terrible action scenes of Lee Mark and Stephen and the flexibility of changing suits I liked the director, Mohamed Diab, that Bring us Egypt in a wonderful picture and the beautiful Egyptian scenes next to the pyramids and Arabic music. And Amit's look was really terrifying. And the ending of the series was terrible, it made my mind spin to find out what happened. But I finally saw Jack Lackley. It was a great reaction John and Greg.
I actually love that Konshu doesn't really break his word. He said "I will release you both". He specifically left Jake out of that promise. Also, Layla killed one of Harrow's people and dressed as them, that's why they didn't question her.
Jake is bi-lingual on many different levels. I think he has a Brooklyn accent (episode 5), can speak Arabic/Egyptian (episode 3) and Spanish (post episode 6). If he is a man of the streets, he has to speak the peoples language.
That makes no sense at all, he didn’t seem to understand English & why would his accent just change? Logically, that’s not how DID works either, pretty sure “Jake” is just a Spanish guy

Layla's based off the Marvel character 'Scarlet Scarab' hence the little teases they give us, like Khonshu calling her a 'little bug' during this episode. I loved how they've portrayed her and ultimately given her the superhero finale that her character arguably deserved. They've (obviously) changed the name of the character from Abdul Faoul to to Layla El-Faouly.
I frigging hope we get to see Layla as Scarlet Scarab again in the new 5th Avengers movie alongside Lady Thor/Jane Foster uwuwuwuwuwuwuwuwu. Of course I can't forget about Moon Knight. Imagine Moon Knight and Scarlet Scarab in the 5th Avengers movie 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍
This episode had so many awesome moments. Marc and Steven flawlessly switching while fighting, Layla's conversation with Taweret and her amazing costume, and of course Jake! My favourite MCU show so far!

I believe that the scene with Marc and Steven at the end was actually what was happening in their mind, while Jake is fronting. This is shown by the two fish (representing Steven and Marc trapped in a fish tank) and the ankle band. They’re still trapped in their own mind by khonshu and Jake. SUCH A GOOD FINALE
I had the same idea but my thought is that the part with Dr Harrow in the clinic is the illusion Khonshu creates when Jake takes over to hide the fact that he is using them
So basically Jake Lockley is khonshu’s emergency 3rd persona hidden in the body that he likely uses to take control when he really needed to. If you notice, in the show it would always cut to Jake in the most crucial/tense moments of the show, likely cause khonshu felt he had to step in to make sure it went his way.
My theory is that when khonshu saved Marcs life he not only saw steven but also jake and like u said he was hidden my thing he’s so hidden and emergency use only that even marc have forgotten about him but i think khonshu told jake to do the deed
I don’t know if khonshu stepped in so to say, More as Jake had the lack of morals and skill that Steven and Marc needed but they were gonna die or get seriously injured so he stepped in to save the day and give control back later. But definitely a secret, I’m sure ohonshu knew all along. Marc was keeping Steven away from the truth and Jake was doing it to both

A neat thing to point out at the end there is two goldfish in the tank. Representing how now Marc and Steven are stuck in their own fish tank outside the loop. When in the beginning it was one fish because only Steven was the one being hidden
I must be extremely sentimental because I thought the 2 goldfish represented marc and stevens connection now in comparison to the lone fish at the start
Today's season finale of Moon Knight was one hell of an episode between Gods and their respective avatars battling out to save the whole world. This was truly a cinematic experience for sure with Moon Knight. I am like once Marc Spector and Steven Grant were able to form a pact that truly was the best moment because once they come face to face with Khonshu it's like "I have come to bargain..." Khonshu definite kept his word but at the same he did something by unlocking the third personality by putting Marc and Steven to bed. Also getting to see Khonshu and Amit having exposition battle leading to an actual battle in Egypt was epic. You really had that Clash of the Titans vibe during that whole scene. You can see the parallels to Ghost Rider with Khonshu wanting an avatar to be the agent of vengeance as that was the main focus in this series. Then Layla making her debut as a Superhero was amazing and Taweret being the one to help her out was beautiful. Just getting to see Layla as a superhero working side by side with Moon Knight during the final battle with the mix of Watchmen Prison fight and Old Boy one sequence fight was awesome. The whole choreography was very character driven and the moment with Layla saving a young Egypt girl with her asking Layla "Are you a Egyptian Superhero" was so incredible. For short episode it really captured all the beats so well. Khonshu is definitely not done with Marc/Steven since realizing within their minds he had to unlock a third personality with Steven/Marc being unaware. When both had the blackout it was Jake Lockley that beat Arthur Harrow near death. I think if season 2 happens we will get a new "Fist of Vengeance" in the form of Jake Lockley because that mid-credit scene set it up perfectly. I really hope we get a season 2 for this show because it was a wild crazy ride.
Oh we will get a season 2,dont worry but i think you should be really scared because in the comics,jake lockley is by far the most dark and the most vile and also the most dangerous of the three identities.We are in for a bloodbath if season 2 comes and I'm all here for it.
Now that we have the whole thing? Absolutely the BEST Marvel show. I need a season two and a movie and Midnight Sons and just MORE MOON KNIGHT AND SCARLET SCARAB!! Seriously, Layla was just as incredible the whole show and I really hope she stayed Tawaret's avatar cause I NEED more Hippo, too!!
I think the end was konshu trying to trap them in the depths of their mind while jake could run the show. Then like the comic, they refused so Jake put them back in the apt so they’d think everything is back to normal. At least that’s what I took from it. 🤷
No doubt Jake was the alter created to take the physical abuse from his mother, thus his sordid violence. It also seems that Jake is the billionaire judging purely off the fancy car and not Steven. I like the variation from the comics!

Yeah that makes sense, because I soon as Steven is created, it’s when his mother is coming to beat him. So, you’d assume he would remember being abused.
When Marc and Steven were negotiating with Khonshu, Khonshu said something along the lines of “I’ll free you both”. I think he’s only using 1 personality (Jake) as his fist of justice now and the other 2 don’t have powers.
I think they can regain the powers if they become aware of Jake's presence. Similar to Steven when he learned of Marc. They then started bleeding into each other
That was my favorite MCU post credit scene of all time. Not only did they introduce Jake after many teases But did anyone notice Konshu wearing Mr Nights suit? It means Konshu while making fun of Steven actually found it stylish.
I'm a huge fan of Layla's costume. Love the color scheme and the use of that copper-looking metal for the wing's feathers. Great work by everyone involved in this. Big time admiring the practical sets in this show too, glad they got to use the tomb room some more. Seems like Jake is the rich one instead of Steven in the MCU. That's a clever twist, Jake being the rich but also murderous one. Meet my friend, Jake Lockley. Holy shit that scene was badass. This ending definitely sets up either a film or a season 2!!!
Khonsu says "have you met my friend Jake Lockley?" Like he sees Jake as a partnership and not below him as Marc and Steven are. He makes Marc feel in control, but its only a way to work closer with Jake. I hope in the next season we get to see more Egyptian avatars in action, like Anubis and maybe even Sekmet.
I was scared this finale wasn't going to land considering in my opinion most Disney+ shows didn't except Loki and then I saw it was a shorter episode I got so scared but honestly I think it landed and maybe it's too early to say but I think it's my favorite show so far.
the beginning of the episode was a tiny bit rushed, but i’m glad they spent most of the time on the fights and sentimental-ness yk. in a way, i’m happy they rushed it even tho it definitely could’ve benefited from at least 10 extra minutes lmfao. it ended with me wanting more from marc.
Best Disney Plus finale I’ve experienced since Wandavision and Loki. I’m just so satisfied with Mr Knight and Layla I’m so excited to see Layla in action in other ways.
I felt underwhelmed by Moon Knight's finale, much like Wandavision. The one that saved the episode was the reveal in the post credit scene. Otherwise, Disney Plus MCU shows suffer from the rushed-finale syndrome.
Since we see Marc's brother die as a child, I think Jake Lockley will be the MCU's Shadow Knight. He was the one that took the beatings and has been shown to be the vicious side of Marc. Steven and Jake will be the angel and demon on his shoulders, along with their super-powered alter egos. We could even see Jake taking more control in the second season or movie with Layla having to fight him at some point in their costumes.
@Krasix Steven and Marc are not villains, but the same way Steven is separate from Marc Jake is also his own person, a very violent one at that. Its highly possible that he is Shadow knight It also would make sense considering we didnt see his outfit, they probably cant show it since his is the shadow knight's outfit

Honestly, that's not a terrible idea. Make the main enemy the main character himself too! Here's something to think about, if Jake is the embodiment of Marc's pent up violence and viciousness, do you think it's possible that Jake murdered his/Marc's/Steven's mom? I think it would be neat if that were the case because that means all this started because of Marc. Full circle there.
@Krasix they more so implying that the show has already changed so much about the characters from the comics, like how Layla is now the Scarlet Scarab, so it would make sense for Jake to be the Shadow Knight following that logic

If you listen carefully when Layla Al Faoul landed you hear the Avengers: Endgame theme when the Avengers Assemble. Also the whole Kali mixed with Capoeira for Moon Knight with The Scarlet Scarab fighting like The Falcon with the awesome aerial maneuver's brings back to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. I wonder if Aaron Toney did some sort of consulting for key fight sequences?
Great season overall. However my biggest takeaway from this show is that Marvel really needs to drop the 6 episode formula as I feel even this finale fell victim to it like the others, excluding Loki. Where it felt like the other episodes took their time to develop plot points and really let the audience simmer in the moment, the finale felt like we were jumping from point to point, the stakes and tension weren’t really there and the action was pretty by the numbers. I really would’ve loved to see more episodes earlier on dealing with Moon Knight’s more street-level psychological thriller side with more supernatural threats and then the final episodes leaning into the mythological and mysticism side which would ultimately lead to a more fleshed out and cathartic finale. I think Marvel should really bump up the episodes or at least increase the run time of individual episodes to deliver more satisfying and better paced finales, like Invincible, The Boys or even the Daredevil S3 finale. That would allow the creatives to have more freedom and time to flesh out more aspects and plot lines of the show without being shackled to reach the finish line. Loved the show all in all just felt a lot of potential was squandered with the finale due to the 6 episode quota. Banger reaction Greg!!
This exactly!! I’m not sure why marvel is so dead set on this 6 episode rule but honestly if they just let each series have it’s own different length to suit its own pacing I think they could be so much better.. Moon knight was amazing already, imagine if it had one or two more episodes to breathe
This! Was super disappointed with this finale but the overall show I loved. The fact they had Marc fly to the pyramid of Giza was an odd choice, Khonshu and Ammit fighting was left as background and I never cared about it, also since when was Harrow able to fight? I thought the whole point of Harrow releasing Ammit was so he could become her avatar. They could have easily made 2-3 more episodes and let this last stretch of the story breathe
I don't care what was rushed....delayed or missed or whatever the heck was CG or whatever the heck whatever is.....THIS IS AN AWESOME SHOW with a marvelous ending and I'm ready for more 😭😭😭😭❤️
This was one of the best Marvel shows i have ever seen..... The acting, the story, and introducing future characters in the best way ever... Jake Lockley was an amazing cameo!!!
Was it a perfect finale? No Was it rushed? Yes Am I completely satisfied and excited for season 2? YES YES YES! I really hope season 2 has 8-10 episodes. But the fact that Oscar has been a good negotiator by not signing on automatically to multiple seasons, so he can make sure the story is good makes me super hopeful!
@@ibelievegodexists4198 It is clearly shown that they need specific circumstances to alter their size to that degree. Ammit _needed_ souls, and Khonshu _needed_ the full moon. These are the only two incarnated gods we've seen that don't adhere to physicalism, so there's no way to say that gods can unconditionally alter their size and shape.
This has become my favourite marvel show after that last episode! I loved how it made you feel like there was something missing at the end and then totally gives you that in the post credit scene. And the way Marc fell on his face like Steven always did at the start is the perfect way to show you that now Marc is in the dark like only Steven used to be
While I wish it was longer I thought this finale was epically awesome and I love how open ended it is with its ending and post credit scene. They can truly go in any direction with this character and I love that so much.
I was hoping we'd get a MidNight Sons reference in the series with Khonshu saying Marc hasn't accepted an invite from a wizard for a group with the wizard being a reference to Doctor Strange and the group being Midnight Sons. But I enjoyed the series a whole lot with or without a MidNight Sons reference. I 100% loved how Oscar Isaac switched between accents and made it look like it's the easiest thing ever when it most likely took a bunch of takes to switch between accents with ease

They never signed on for a season 2. Someone did a break down where Disney submitted this series as a one and done. The contract still states that he can possibly show up in other movies and possibly shows but a season 2 might not be possible.
@@javierrosas6523 they can always sign for another season until stated it won't get renewed. Lots of shows only get signed for 1 season and don't get a second season signed for a while.
Yes, Marvel has proven to have a bad habit of overloading their finales and rushing them, despite Disney+ enforcing no runtime restrictions. If this episode had been a full hour, it could have had a bit of breathing room and felt more climactic. As cool as the cut over Jake saving them was, it also felt like a bit of a cheat to rush the episode towards a resolution. It might not have felt that way if the episode wasn't rushed overall. I found myself fully expecting that they would go back and show what happened, because it seemed like there should be more. When the episode ended, even after the mid-credits scene, it felt a bit unsatisfying because of how short it was. It was the shortest episode of the series. With the most to do. Marvel needs to learn to give their finales the time they need.

The season finale was so satisfying. I just wanted Steven back and I got him. Marc went back for him and I cried in that moment, it was such a wholesome scene. Love this show so much. Loved your reaction and commentary.
i think layla may be inspired by the scarlet scarab who is originally her father in the comics i believe. he also has a son instead of a daughter. It also makes sense since her father called her his little scarab, and her badass suit has scarabs on it.
Honestly i think i loved them keeping jake until this episode the reveal topped this series off but with very little story told of him in this season there could be a second season? Who knows

I've watched this episode 3 times already and every time the "are you an Egyptian hero" scene happens I tear up a little bit. Seeing the excitement of that girl seeing someone who looks like her be a hero was so wholesome and I can't wait to see Ms marvel. Also I think Layla is the mcu version of the scarlet scarab. also also wandavision had 9 episodes
That was so on the nose. When they put that there JUST to say she's an Egyptian superhero, they make it all about that. It's diversity for diversity sake. Just have the girl ask if she's a superhero and have her say yes. People don't talk like that. If we saw a superhero in America, we wouldn't say "holy shit an American superhero?!" We'd merely say "holy shit a superhero?!"
This episode definitely stuck the landing. And that CGI for Khonshu & especially Amit was on point for a Disney + show. Edit: Posted this before listening to their feelings on episode , which I totally respect. I completely understand where they’re coming from on a lot of criticisms. But for me, I really enjoyed it though I do hope they get away from the 6 episode seasons. This episode could have used some more room to breath. At the end of the day I really enjoyed the episode & the show overall.

I liked the finale the first time I watched it... but I had an absolute BLAST watching it 'with' you guys the second time. A little rushed, but I am going to count it as a win. 8/10
I still remember when all these Marvel series were announced, it feels like yesterday! Now, Wandavision, Loki, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and now Moon Knight have _all_ already come and gone! Time has seemingly FLOWN by!
Yup, after this finale I can confidently say that Moon Knight has blown every other MCU show out of the water. I'm actually going to remember this show instead of just forgetting it ever even existed. Oscar Isaac killed it, Ethan Hawke killed it, everyone killed it! Can't wait for Moon Knight to return!
Seems like they are setting up Jake to be somewhat of an antagonist in the second season which would be really interesting considering that the antagonist and the protagonist are literally the same person.
I personally loved this episode. I don’t like really long episodes because o get tired but I also don’t like really short episodes either, I felt this was the right length. And I think they left Marc/Steven’s and Layla’s future ambiguous on purpose I think Layla might be playing a gender-bent version of the Scarlet Scarab, but idk
I think Jake does still have that New York accent. That part in “Asylum”, whoever was in control was far more violent than Marc or Stephen, as well as having the broken nose that made him look notably different than before. But the likelihood that he is a bilingual immigrant personality is not too far from possibility.
This is the show to beat in the MCU! The finale is just amazing. Leila's acting and costume are fire. And the way they teased Jake and reveal it is just awesome. Well done and congrats to all those who made this happen
I could be reading into this too much, but during a lot of the fight at the pyramid with both Khonshu and Moon Knight, the way the angles were shot looked like images of hieroglyphics with the way it’s shot from the side. I thought that was really cool.
I think we can all agree this is by far the best MCU show by far, and has some of the best performances the MCU has ever had specifically last episode 5, so glad this didn't disappoint
Well, It was a very good show but I prefered WandaVision and even Loki. So, no, we don't all agree. But Oscar Isaac is the best performer in the MCU series.
Nah. WandaVision still holds the crown for me. Oscar Isaac killed it, of course, because he's a fantastic actor and kills everything he's in (when he's given good material to work with, anyway. Looking at you, Apocalypse...ugh). I actually haven't seen too much of Ethan Hawke's stuff, but he did a fantastic job too. The MCU as a whole is blessed with some freakishly talented actors.

In my opinion, I think Marvel needs to learn how to create a compelling climax without resorting to over-the-top CGI mess. It has deprived previous series’ of their emotional weight and I feel like that happened here too
nah. they marketed moonknight as a supernatural, fantasy-ish, mythological show sooo it's already expected to be GCI. It's a comic book movie for Christ's sake.. not an arthouse film. Comic book movies are supposed to be over the top and that's what differentiates it from other movies. Like Scorcese said.. it's like being in a theme park and YES that is true. That's what comic book films are supposed to be.. it doesn't need to appeal to the filmbros or oscars.. it's purpose is to entertain their fans

Take infinity war for example (I know it’s different from a show but you get the point). Also, just because something intends to be bad quality doesn’t mean it’s excused from its poor execution
Layla is a female version of the Scarlet Scarab which is an Egyptian superhero that fought with the Invaders. Her father from the series is the Scarlet Scarab in the comics.
The pandemic really crimped everything I think. I did enjoy Layla as an avatar and she's the right one as someone warm and nurturing like Taweret. While not as strong an entry, it was enjoyable, especially the post-credit scene.
Layla is a Scarlet Scarab!! Originally Abdul Faoul is the original Scarlet Scarab/archaeologist, and his son Mehemet inherits it. Marvel just changed Abdul's son to daughter. It was kind of a give away when Layla's surname was revealed as El Faouly and her father was an archaeologist
Interestingly if you watch the finale with subtitles during the scene at the end in the asylum, the subtitles will actually clarify that it is in fact Marc speaking. I'm curious if maybe these asylum scenes were the first things they filmed and Oscar maybe used a heavier accent for them only to switch it up in later scenes he filmed, because there is a noticeable difference in the Marc accents during those asylum scenes, but nowhere else.
That's a really good point about the timing of filming. I'd noticed the heavier accent too but hadn't made that connection. I think you might be on to something with that.
I think the largest issue with the finale is exactly what I was scared of when I saw how short the episode was - rushing moments. I couldn't agree more regarding how flat the moment felt when Marc spares Harrow and the bitch of it is that it REALLY could have worked. You slow down in the psych ward where Marc and Steven reject Harrow's interpretation and take it further to where they flip it on him, and start to psychoanalyze him. Have the audience and Marc/Steven learn what Harrow went through with Konchu, how damaged he is, the manipulation of Amit, laying the flaws of Amit's philosophy bare in front of him and have them gain more empathy for what Harrow went through, and that he's a victim much like Marc has been under Konshu, his mother, etc. Then when Marc spares him, there's an emotional core that hits as to why he would do that, going beyond the hero trope. I am in complete agreement with you all here - it needed to be minimum 20 minutes longer or have two episodes wrapping up the show. Still a lot of really cool shit that I enjoyed, especially Layla and the action was very good, but they fell short by rushing the travesty that's going on in Cairo, not spending enough time on Harrow and making space for Marc to make the decision to spare him, and damnit I would have loved to see what Jake did when he saved them. Eps 1-5 were an A, with 5 being an A+++. Finale was a B. WV is still my number one Disney+ Marvel show with Loki very close behind and if MK would have stuck this landing, it would be tied with Loki or probably surpass it.
I would loved that the reveal of Jake lockly in the scene where Marc decided not to kill Harrow. It would be great moment if charcter switched and Jake said "fine I'll do it" then kills Harrow , End of season. Still great reaction guys and great review 👍
