Moon Knight REVIEW - Swing and a Miss? 

For me personally I think Moonknight was top-tier MCU, I really love the show I’d say is the best Disney+ we’ve gotten so far

Honestly, this was my favorite Marvel Disney+ series by a pretty large margin. I genuinely enjoyed every episode and didn't have a problem with any of the things you criticized aside from maybe the bit of Jake coming in to get Marc/Steven out of that situation without showing it

I felt like the ending was a little unique in that it was more about character, we got to see mark decide that he shouldn't kill harrow, so his internal conflict was solved, that felt more like the resolution to the story rather than physically defeating harrow, so i felt like it worked and tied together the secret of third personality they'd been teasing at.

My ranking of the episodes 6. Episode 3 5. Episode 6 4. Episode 4 3. Episode 2 3. Episode 1 1. Episode 5 And I would probably give moonknight a 8.1/10

I mostly agree with you on ep 1 to 4 not so much for ep 5 and 6 though. Obviously though there are certain things I understand. For ep 5 I really don't think it was a rushed episode. I can say ep 6 is but not really 5. It was pretty much just "you both need to fully understand each other to survive" type of episode and I think it did an amazing job with it. All the lore you said was really mostly to set up the background of the episode which I think they did well. And I think Asylum stuff in both episodes were a smart way to make audiuence question about how real the events Marc and Steven went through. I actually hope the mysterious setting there would always stay if they continue his story. For ep 6 I think it's rushed too but not in a way that it doesn't deliver what it wants to be. It does but with the pace of ep 1 to 5 ep 6 feels way too different because of it's speed on how it tells the story. I think one more episode would make that better. For Jack I really disagree but also I understand your point. While I knew somethings about Moon Knight. I never actually read a comic and that scene where Jack took the body not really bothered me. Because of how it changed in the ending. If it didn't have the last scene I do think you are right about the unsatisfying ending but with it, it does do a lot to justify it's reason. First of all it makes you again question about all the other times Steven blackout. Maybe none were Marc which creates an interesting view on the story. Specially when these small moments show you things Marc probably didn't do. Second, it does give an interesting climacting result by a callback to first ep which I do like but also understand that it wouldn't be enough by itself. And third, I think instead of it makes the climax it's just a last clue to the real one. Jacks reveal. Which I think while in our time we quickly act as it's a call to a sequel, I see it as a great way to make a bittersweet ending. Marc and Steven thought they were free which technically they are but Khonshu still had the last laugh. It's a bittersweet end which I loved. And I think Jack coming in last fight elavates the ending. But I do think it costs the final fight with a satifying win. At least we still got a really cool final fight though. I found this series to be an amazing ride. Easily the best mcu show and the best phase 4 story right now. I can even say it's one of the only superhero shows that come close to Daredevil for me but it's more of a personal opinion. But I do think you pointed really good things and this review. I loved Moon Knight. With the other MCU shows I wasn't intrigued enough to even check them out, but this one really caught my attention and quickly my heart as well. I can definitely understand the criticism, especially towards the finale, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment too much. Jake's reveal feels very similar to Agatha's in WandaVision, where everyone who knows the source material will see it coming from a mile away, and everyone who doesn't will be completely baffled by it because it's a meaningless name drop for them. I thought there was something very powerful about ending the final battle anticlimactically with Jake saving the day. Not necessarily better than ending it normally, you could argue either way, but I did like it in its own way.

I think that Wanda Vision and Moon Knight had some really creative elements, but Moon Knight is easily my favorite out of all the MCU series. It's not easy to introduce a new character with an entirely different setting and general tone from what made MCU as loved as it was, and still appease the fans so I'll give them much credit for that. Although it fell very short in some aspects, I think they did a lot of things optimally. Also huge props to Ethan Hawke and Oscar Isaac for their incredible performances.

13:11-13:20 I disagree alot with that statement Just bc its season 1 doesn’t mean it needs to have the beginning, middle and end type of structure Yes if season 1 was it I would agree with you about how it ended but we know there is going to be more so season 1 is just one part of a bigger story Its like hating lord of rings 1 saying that all they setup didn’t get resolved but you know there’s more so no need to complain Its easy to complain about moon knight now but like in 5 years where there is a season 2 or even more, all those complaints would be silly

This was for me one of the best mcu projects so far. I loved every single second of pretty much every episode and I really hope we get to see more of the character.

Daredevil and Peacemaker are still miles ahead of any of these Phase 4 shows

13:15 "…without knowledge of the comics…" yes, I agree. "…or having watched another season…" I completely disagree. While this would be true for something like The Batman, for a TV Show, especially in the MCU, I think it's well worth it to leave a setup, especially when it directly affects the ending of the character arc that Marc has had to go through this season (getting rid of Khonshu) because otherwise, the only way they can bring him up in the future is a retcon. This would be like saying "Cap's hammer scene in Age of Ultron doesn't make sense" but a) it's funny and makes sense in the moment and b) it's paid off years later in endgame. Similarly, for this episode, we know that there's a third personality (the deaths in Cairo followed by the second tomb in the asylum) so it makes total sense for us to end the show with something that's so central to the character (did) being the thing that also saves him and we get to see from the outside that Jake is a brutal murderer that is gonna screw over Marc and Steven's current plans to, you know, not work for Khonshu

Personally i think the Jake Lockley stuff was very interesting. I have no idea who that is but you can see a third coffin in the asylum which heavily implied a third personality, so all the scenes with where he showed up left me so hyped loved it!

I completely agree on that finale. I would really like to see a video talking about the main issue with not telling a complete story lately!

It's not perfect but this is my fave Disney+ show so far

This is a really cool show I would also say that this is probably the best MCU show so far because I really haven't enjoyed any of the other ones. also I did not like Doctor Strange 2 at all.

I personally really like Moonknight, and even after the show ended there is still a big mystery for me. If you can remember back to episode 4 when they were going through Marc's memories you might remember when Khonshu mentioned the "travelers of the night." I have not read the comics and this group of people might have some relevance to the story. I'm not sure. If someone can reply to this comment and tell me whom the "travelers of the night", are I would appreciate it.

Probably my favourite Disney+ Marvel show. The first episode was a bit of a disappointment because it felt a bit generic and cheesy, but the rest was really cool and I loved Oscar Isaac. It felt really unique, even if I had a few small random problems. Still really like it.

This was the show I was really really hoping wouldn't be mid and what do you know it was mid. After the 1st episode it just became standard MCU stuff only exception was the 5th episode. I think that MCU fans are so used to just standard storytelling that anything that is even slightly unconventional is world shattering. They really coulda gone all out and told a captivating, grim story of a Jewish man backed into a corner by an Egyptian god that takes itself seriously throughout I dont know why they gotta insert all this humor into it and all the cgi. Like they really couldnt just go out to an actual field of reeds.

To be honest, I disagree with you on your opinion of episode 5, personally I thought episode 5 and 6 were the best the show had to offer. I thought it’s actual use of the Ancient Egyptian mythology was great, and this worked really well with the therapeutic elements of the show that made it something to come back to.

Comparing Marvel to the Fantastic Beats cycle is like comparing a Harvard degree to a mail in certificate.

Moon knight is a lot like Batman but not so much I would call him marvel’s Batman the people saying he’s nothing like Batman are delusional and I will fight you on this but aside that this show was amazing and probably my favorite MCU show

Marvel doesnt spend time on learning about these characters the way they did Captain America and Thor.

What still bothered me about the show is the classic MCU comedy. That’s an element that just didn’t fit well with this tv show for me

top-tier show for me, but E6 was kinda bad cause they build up to this and then the obvious happens... Namely: Steven is saved, Leilay gets super powers and they win, only the post credit brought a bit of a twist.

I feel the final episodes are basically the third act of a superhero movie but the begging of these Disney Plus shows are usually great, def a reoccurring pattern for me

Loved 'Moon Knight'! honestly, if Ethan Hawke or Oscar Isaac don't win an Emmy for their performance then the cinematic TV community got it wrong. Great series and deals with issues (mental health) that is of importance -bravo Marvel

I actually never read the comics but to my vague knowledge of DID I could tell that there was another alter :D I mean I named him Jeffery so I could talk about him to my brother and try and explain the build up, eventually I found out about the actual name. Jake Lockley and was pretty happy about my theory :D hehe

This show wasn't underwhelming nor was it overwhelming, just whelming. I always ask myself with MCU shows, would I reccomend this to a friend? And honestly, not really.

Best Episode is Asylum

As a character, "Stephen" kind of -(i.e. ABSOLUTELY)- _RUINED_ things for me. I was _so_ annoyed by his ...well, by pretty much EVERYTHING about him, to be honest. In fact, I was SO annoyed by his goofy, irritating personality that I _completely_ stopped watching after episode 3. I tried. I REALLY did. This was disappointing to me because I was genuinely looking forward to this show and the Moon Knight character in general, but in the end I just couldn't get past the whole "Stephen" persona. 😑

Everyone has their own opinions and that’s fine - you talk a lot about pacing and room to breathe…you should take your own advice. I know you’re trying to get a lot of information out in a relatively short amount of time but your speech is clipped and rushed, and difficult to listen to. Kind of like a run-on-sentence that lasts for 16 minutes and 9 seconds. I watch a lot of these reviews and dissecting videos so without reading the comics I knew about Jake Lockley. I know that’s not true of a lot of people that watch. That being said - you don’t need to know WHO Jake is, to understand that there must be a 3rd alter.
