One could say that the great inconsistency of Marvel, related to Moon Knight is that they still manage their mental problems on the basis that Khonshu may or may not exist. In a world where, as Rob says, there are Asgardians, Greek gods, Celestials, corporeal cosmic entities, etc ... it is more effective to focus on their personalities.

Yeah. Especially when we literally saw and heard of how Khonshu was arrested and put in jail at the end of Age of Khonshu. Really weird and worked back in the day but not really anymore.

Yeh that’s the point. It becomes more uncertain because gods literally exist. Noon knight should just be schizophrenic and have delusions of grandeur because he sees super hero’s around him all the time

Khonshu is related to Bast and should be tied to wakanda/African matrix. Similar to Iron Fist and Fu Manchu ultimately moon knight will become seen as problematic

@@BlackEducationRadio That got retconned in King in Black when Knull states that Khonshu is actually an elder god that predates earth history and was only later incorporated into the mythologies of man.

He DOES have the moral high ground from his perspective. He is a holy warrior of a god. Devoting himself to protecting innocents. Just because he doesn't have boy scout morality, doesn't mean he's not moral. I would say he clearly has the moral high ground over rat-men trying to eat people.

Think of him as a paladin. He has rules he follows. But if his targets don't remotely follow his moral code. all bets are off.

Of course he has morale, he resisted Phoenix Force and let himself be captured. Only Hope Summers was better at dealing with Phoenix Force, if I remember correctly

When I was young and first heard of Moon Knight, I was super interested in Egyptology. When I learned how deeply tied MK was to Egyptian beliefs, I craved all of it I could find. Problem is, I grew up in the backwoods of Oklahoma, and had absolutely no access to it, or money to order it. So thank you for covering it!

YESS DUDE!! So happy you finally started this series! It’s been AMAZING so far! Jed McCkay is absolutely killing it, I love the whole take he has on Moon Knight really focusing on Marc and his mental illness and his relationship with Konshu. It’s just so good, probably the best solo series coming out of Marvel right now!

Moon Knight isn't schizo--he actually has Multiple Personality Disorder. He has also gone by other names aside from Marc Spectre over the years which highlight that fact. It resulted from his time as a mercenary.

This series is great. Great revamp of moon knight after the mediocre second half of the legacy run and the fun yet boring Age of Khonshu event. Hope it stays this good. The art is amazing in this book. Love all of it as a Moon Knight diehard fan.

They could blame his multi personality disorder on the multiverse “converging” or whatever they call it. He could be some sort of nexus for the other versions of him. Housing them because their universes were destroyed. It would be a cool way to elevate the story to a tie in.

While I've never done a deep dive on him, I've always dug Moon Knight. The first thing that got me into him was when I was a kid I had a couple of issues I'd snagged in the old 3 packs (yes, I'm that old). The description of Mark Spector that piqued my interest was "he's like Batman". But he's actually cooler in many ways.

So Moon Knight and Spawn essentially have the same origin story? Professional killers who were killed by a colleague on a mission and were brought back by some sort of "god" to continue their work on Earth. I think that makes him more like Spawn than Batman, but I'm not an expert on any of those 3 characters, so I could be wrong.

Well except that Spawn has legit powers and magical weapons: cape, chains, plasma blasts, etc. He’s like Batman bc he just wanders around at night beating up criminals. He’s not really as metaphysical as his origin would suggest.

I think i am remembering this right, Jack Monroe became Bucky in the 50/60s with a type of super soldier serum that drove him nuts. placed on ice for years, let out, cured. became Nomad. followed the real Capt America around then fell out. lost faith in people did a Nomad /TV series Renegade style across the country trying to find out what America really meant and was to people now. Then i think he became the Scourge for a while killing bad guys and he was killed. but all that was many many years ago.

Great video, one correction though, the idea of there being different Caps and Buckys (Monroe was actually a Bucky before he took over being Nomad) was put in place wayyyy before Brubaker. I remember reading about that at least in the 80’s back in high school and it may have been longer. That said, Brubaker had probably my favorite run of Cap ever, he brought back Bucky Barnes in a way that was not cheap or ruined the character and made him awesome, and his just overall run was incredible.

I don't see the Marvel tv show going MK's origin route of Marc Spector being a mercenary/ex marine. The teaser appears to set up some artifact burglar like Indiana Jones which the show runners have mentioned.
