I had a light blue pup I called Skye since chimney canopy. I brought them with me my whole first run, delivering both the neuron and pearl to moon with them. In subterranean they fell off a cliff into a room full of enemies, and I feared the worst- until I managed to get down there and found they had killed a centipede and a taranquilla, and were in the process of killing a black lizard! When it was time for me to ascend, I left them at the entrance of filtration. Their healthbar never greyed out even while I was in the depths, and I took comfort in knowing Skye was making it out there just fine even without me.
Skye must’ve been one impeccable slugpup with stats that are probably on the level of a "Hero" / "Protagonist" Roll for a Scavenger. Glad you didn’t bring them down to meet the Guardians sense they would try to immediately start smashing the pup into the stone or/and stonework of the Depths until it eventually becomes somewhat comparable to the Hunter Long Legs in terms of injuries etc.
@@johnseph1198 Spooky enough if Hunter dies in moons room and the [Redacted] shows up in the later play, she'll react simply as if there were two slugcats in the room, apparently not noticing Hunters 'condition'. "Is this your friend, little friend?" She says, as it shambles toward you...nightmare fuel.
2 things: Hunter is respectable for leaving their child with someone they trust, so thatway if they fail to ascend, the child doesn’t have to witness the horrors that come next And the other thing? It would be adorable(ish) if you leave a child as a slugcat at moon/ a specific shelter that is near or has a lot of food, and come back as a character that’s later in the timeline and the same slugpup would be there
Someone *HAS* to make a mod where you can give a slugpup to a scavenger toll and they are like: *Look At Child* *Look At You.* *Look At Child Again.* *Call Others.* *Takes Spear And Give To Child.* *Raise Child To Sky.* *Other Scavengers Start Celebrating.* *Adoption Is Made.*

I left my nigthcat pup at the scavenger base in garbage wastes. I had maxed out my rep with them so I figured out "why not?". I left them behind with a vulture mask that I carried all the way through when I was with them. I know thats not how it works but in my imagination I hope they got adopted into the scavenger tribe. I miss you shady.
This is actually so funny because I made up a story for nightcat and the story was they got seprerated from their parents (like arti and her pups) and were taken in by the local scavenger tribe and raised kind of like humans had wolves that they used for hunting and tracking.
Nightcats campaign was originally really scavenger based,and he would get picked up by scavengers after smthing happened to him and then meet the enlightened scavenger which now appears in artis ending,and the enlightened scagenger would give him quests
Man I hate that you can get slugpups in Hunter's run, you cannot ascend them nor take them to the tree and it just hurts to leave them behind, I wish there was some way to give them a better ending or canonically know that Moon or someone would actually take care of them in your place.
So slugpups can only spawn after gourmand's full food list ending right? Technically hunter's time line is before gourmand so it kinda doesn't make sense.
I actually thought you cant get pups on Hunter, since logic and you still cant on Arti, Spearmaster, etc., but I see people talking about getting them on Hunter a lot and how does this works??😭 Maybe its some kind off bug? Because All of the dlc cats are part of dlc (which enables like a mode) and Hunter and other are not and maybe its somehow messes it up...

Thats plain heartbreaking, i just wish there was a actual official area where u can safely entrust ur slugpups to so we can have peace of mind when we have to go get the milk. I'd like to think that moon will take good care of your pup tho :,)
i watched this video this morning, and thought to myself, "huh, that's really sad, i actually haven't played hunter yet, hopefully i don't get a pup with them..", and low and behold, after my first echo in the farm, i find a fucking slug pup on my way to sky island. they refused to stay put, so i snuck them into the void sea with me. i gave them a good shelter before we left, where i hope they can feed themselves when they wake up again, and eventually find themselves a nice place to live. Her name was June, and she was the most lovely shade of purple.
@@TheMoonlight1711 when you finish the food quest it unlocks pups for gourmand and the 3 base slugs, monk survivor and hunter, idk if any of the other slugs get pups. Edit: ik it doesn’t make sense timeline wise, but because pups are the reward for the food quest, and the devs love trauma, they also gave em to hunter
they do have comments on slugpups, but most of them are very basic. For example, when leaving five pebbles a second time he says "And take THEM with you" Note that slugpups spawned in by mods do not work fully; iterators wont comment on them
I once found a little blue slugpup in my second rivulet run (slugpups for everyone mod go figure lmao) the ironic thing is… I found him in a shelter in the rot- exactly how he got there I didnt want to know, but boy it was sure painful carrying a big ball and a child through a world where everything wants to eat you. Eventually I noticed that submerged superstructure would be to risky for him, since y’know, water. So I mustered up all my pain and brought him to moon, giving him his favorite food: bubble fruit. When I threw it at him moon actually caught it first and said something along the lines of “it’s a gelatinous fruit, you should have it my friend!” The slugpup interrupted right then and there and it broke my heart- he despawned when I hibernated without him but I like to imagine he’s somewhere in moon’s structure, eating bubble fruit.
I have the ‘ everyone gets pups ‘ mod and found my first slug pup on a rivulet play through. I like to imagine the baby and ruffles lived happily with moon
I'ma believe that your slugpup soon came to be the ancestor of the water slugcats, which is why Moon names one Ruffles and lets it stay around uwu Moon took care of them well.

I know nothing about this game or its story, yet watching this journey with the minimal narration and the little movements of the characters was oddly touching. Even sorrowful. This seems like a good game.
There is no colony at Hunter's point in the timeline iirc, so it can't be changed to some kind of dropoff point. Maybe a way to get scavs to adopt them into their tribes?
@@peoplespigeon2842 i'm not sure what prompted them to do that the first time but after the genocide i think they just see the pups as a bad omen. i suspect their initial hostility towards hunter comes from a fear of red slugcats after that but i'm not sure where arti is on the timeline

On my monk save I found a little slugpup and I was shocked and I adopted them, They are a very dark magenta with very very light magenta eyes, I found them in Garbage Wastes or Industrial Complex, I don’t remember lol, they have died a few times but I can’t let them die so I always reload the save, I found moon with them and we are currently in Five Pebbles and I hope he doesn’t kill my baby Please leave name suggestions for my baby in the reply’s You thought it was over? Nahh I still have another very short slugpup story to tell So I was playing as the Gourmand and thinking “I hope I don’t find a slugpup, it’s gonna be hard to raise them because I chonk!” And then… there was a very light pastel green slugpup right outside a den getting popped around by a snail, I was like “😳” and adopted them…
I think this must've been patched. I'm so heartbroken because I had to leave my slugpup outside while i defeated a lizor in our shelter. Because I had full food notches, the gate closed while my baby boy was outside and now he's forever dead 😮💨 I don't even know if I want to play this run anymore, I'm almost done with Gourmand but trying to get my slugpup through Farm Arrays was actual hell. RIP Tubbins, you will be forever loved 🙏
I had a green pup once in one of my survivor playthroughs. I first found them in subterranean, before we both died (I think idk what happened, I know I died or something tho) Then, after a restart for a reason I forgot (or maybe I didn’t restart, idk) I found the exact same coloured slugpup in the room next to moon’s. It was fucking destiny holy shit. So I named him; “infinite possibilities, one destiny” (Dess, for short) He was a powerful young warrior, worthy of respect from the most powerful in this world. He pinned a blue lizard to a wall. He was ruthless overall. And he was really lazy. Slept all the time. I lost him to a shelter in pipeyard, where he just disappeared forever… That was my first Slugpup. I loved him… Also, btw, one time in subterranean on the first hunter run I beat (with cheats) I saw another green Slugpup dead on the floor. Me and the blue pup I had died next to it…tragic
I had 2 slugpups in my first survivor run (I had a mod installed) and they were called Jeremy and david. I met Jeremy at the start of the game and David near the end, I still loved them both. By the time I had to ascend, I left them in a shelter near the end because my friend told me if you bring a pup to the good survivor ending then you get a different cutscene. By the time I finished gourmand to get there I went back to where I left Jeremy and David and they were just gone, nowhere to be found. I ended up doing the ending with another slugpup I found I called Roland but he was accidentally left out of a shelter when I got 2 more slugpups, but I found him again and tamed him again and for some reason his personality and color changed but to me he’s still the same. I like to think that Jeremy and David got adopted by another slugcat but that probably isn’t what happened. Rest in peace Jeremy and David.
And thus i was inspired to write a fanfic where hunter meets a slugpup I finally found the video that inspired me months ago! Thank you for the inspiration. now i just need to finish it :p
My Slugpup experience for anyone who finds this stuff interesting I have 2 pups in my survivor save file, they are very _very_ similar shades of pale turquoise, so similar it's difficult for me to tell them apart. The first one I found, which is a slightly more rivulet-colour than the other, is named Oggie, the other pup is very slightly more grey-green, I lovingly named him Barney as it was the only thing i could think of. One thing I've noted about Oggie is that he absolutely hates danglefruit. Their personalities seem pretty similar, and both of them enjoy throwing themselves into death. While trying to get past those annoying chimney canopy rooms inbetween sky islands and the wall, Oggie decided to hurl himself off a ledge while i was trying to feed him, and after going to shoreline and forcing Moon to teach us history, I grabbed Barney, assuming Oggie would follow us, and went into Moon's chamber to say goodbye before we headed to subterranean. Oggie did not follow us. I checked the food pips to check that they weren't red, guess what. They were GREY. Oggie had presumably goten all the way out into the open again, in the span of less than 1 minute, and either had been eaten by a leviathan or snatched by monster kelp, perhaps chewed up by a lizard, because his corpse was nowhere to be found even when I pressed V. Anyway neither of them can survive on their own and I am very much looking forward to Outer Expanse...

Although I only know some worldbuilding of the game, the title gives me the headcannon that Slugcat and Moon are star-crossed souls in love and Moon actually raises the slugpup as a child when the Slugcat goes to hunt

i watched this video before playing hunter myself, i found a green slugpup at the wall and called him mark, i asked a friend if i should leave him in filtration or give him to moon, and he said to give him to moon. i made the mistake of trying to go through pipeyard on the way to moon, had to genocide every dahm centipede to get through, it almost lost me the run, as i beat the run on cycle 0. but it was all worth since i gave mark a good home.
reminds me of my son, Paul. i found him also during my hunter run, and he was a badass lil' scugpup, causing me many a heart attack because he would enjoy going towards danger instead of away from it. I'd had the mouse drag mod on, so I just kinda brought him with me to the soup where I learned he straight up couldn't go past a certain point in the soup, so I had to leave him on the shore. i imagine that he's now an extreme danger to the rainworld ecosystem, destroying everything that dares stand in his path. that or he's completely melted away from the soup he took a lil dip in, as a treat.
On my Survivor run, I was making my way through Outer Expanse, and what do you know, a slugpup miles from the nearest shelter playing around with yeeks. I ended up finishing the game in 11 cycles, before I even thought about their name. I also have 3 pups in my Gourmand run, existence is hell
I had the exact situation, found a slugpup in the first shelter of The Wall. Took the journey up and back down and then took it to Moon where...Oh, there's another. Fuck.
I almost had a slugpup. I was passing through the karma gate from shaded to shoreline and just as the gate had closed behind me a night cat slugpup came out. It was traumatic seeing them attempt to claw their way through the gate
Oh nooo, he looks just like the pup I found in MY hunter run! I got the same idea to bring her to Moon, and right near the entrance to the last shelter in Shaded Citadel- coaliscipedes. Coalescipedes snatched her off my back at the brink of safety. I didn't know then... I didn't know that slugpups don't recover in shelters... ;_;

My first ever slugpup was a grayish(?) one I named Lint I somehow managed to get before I completed the Gourmand Champaign. I tried to keep him alive but I was in canopy and kept dying and so did the countdown and I eventually had to restart the game. My poor little Lint.
Having slugpups as hunter is pretty tragic. You either get consumed by the rot and the pup might get killed by HLL, or you have to abandon them at the depths. Either way it’s sad.
I also tried to take my puppy to moon, I found mine in shaded citadel don't know what it was doing there, but I decided to take him to a better place, I just tried to leave him with moon, however he kept following me and wouldn't stay with moon no matter what, I was wondering how you managed to calm him down that effectively so I searched on Rain World forum and found that you can order them wether or not the follow you, etc... , so I guess I will try again with moon...

I did something similar with a cyan lizard I had accidently befriended all the way at the wall after talking to Five Pebbles. That lizard went through thick and thin with me. Whenever it died, I died so I could continue my run with it. We reached Moon with 6 cycles to spare, so I spent those cycles giving Moon pearls and hunting for more things to give to her. Eventually the final cycle came and I took the lizard to Moon and waited for the end of the cycle where I let the rain take me. I wont replay Hunter ever, because I feel like I would be separating Moon and the lizard.
i tried this and my pup green bean ate moons neurons and killed her. she ate some the first cycle and i was outraged and then the second cycle i got some jellyfish and tried to bring them to green bean to eat and watched her food pips fill up. bro killed moon immediately.
