IMHO nobody makes good earbud covers anymore. It used to be possible to get foams 2x thicker than the cheap pack of 100's or even soft foamy silicone rubber horns/nozzles to make them into psuedo-IEM's. Foam covers with a hole in the middle sound the best (normally, as long as you don't have sibilant mids, which you won't if the housing is vented nicely)... I ended up making my own with two copper pipes and a woodburning iron. It's also a thing to put a donut on under the full foams for some extra comfort and softening of spicy treble.
@@VortexReviews1Sadly. 14.8mm drivers and bigger *can* deliver some superb sound, and the earbud form factor can get you good apparent air and venting or grilles... but there's no market demand for it. Venture Electronics does ship thicker foams as standard and makes some good IEM's if you can snag a review sample! Or their cheaper pairs. I should add that thick foam doesn't necessarily mean dense. Dense donuts and light full foams get you the best experience, otherwise the foam can sap too much detail as you've experienced. It does seem like they missed out on properly venting this set. Worth DIYing with a PCB drill if you own this set; preferably disassembled so you know how to best miss the wires with your drill. Speaking of, by the wire is an amazing place to put a vent. Nobody is listening to your chest so the sound will be less noticeable to your neighbors and the same is true the other way around. You can always seal the vent with a little dab of superglue if you don't like it. There's not room to mod most IEM's this way, so it's worth a shot!
@@cheyannei5983 I doubt I could get a sample from VE. Good thinking about the different density and seal plus where they should have a vent? They could do a MK2 version in the future?
I love the design on these quite a lot. It feels DIY, but not in a janky way. Shame that the sounds is only OK. There's really no reason to settle for that in this day and age, even for a low price. Thank you for the review!
