Most reviews of Harman bass has the same impression. Lack of texture and weight of the bass and drum instruments . I'm sure the sub bass quality is very good though. I saw a good video with Dan Clark talking about the Harman target. Good review man
Whispiness? I like that it's 6 khz it's makes the sound shiny I know what you're talking about I also like that warm bass that sounds more kinda "rich" but once heard the variations bass I don't like other earphones bass that's the problem It's so clean and rumbly like a subwoofer
my library has electronic, female vocals and not much guitar, variations sound end-game in every one of the tracks, however I can't use the case and the eartips are bad, try with cp145 eartips, worked wonders for my fit and sound.
The cons of variation is missing extension on mid bass, vocal too centric cause some song’s vocal seems way behind the instrument…u can review the ThieAudio Oracle which is my favourite IEM, it’s better than Moondrop variation

@@HobbyTalk try my eq and the problem is solved. It increases the lower mids, also lowers the shout as everyone calls it and a adds minor boost with treble extension around 18k. My eq will make it endgame. haha

I've been considering the Variations but have been kind of put off by the bass tuck. I too am a bass player and a bass head when it comes to listening to music most of the time. I've found the MEST mkll to be the most realistic sounding bass I've heard. That being said I normally listen to the Kinera Nanna 2.0 or 2.1 with I'm just listening for enjoyment.
@@HobbyTalk I'm a basshead but I like high quality mids and highs too. Well , if his bass has a lot of punch and is deep then I 'll like it . Until today I haven't seen bass like the XBA-Z5, very strong when called, very deep. But it's an iem that requires energy. Thank you.

Personally no, I don’t find a big sound stage difference. Some argue that the lower bass tuck in variations leads to a larger sense of space but I disagree with that. I prefer the wu over variations personally.
I'm not an audiophile but I was thinking of getting this, I have the galaxy buds pro and want an upgrade from that, I like bass so I found my way here. So I've got a question, would this be an upgrade from that? And also the moondrop kato which I got but now want to return since it is too similar to my galaxy buds, being wired, kind of heavy, and just more inconvenient to use so kind of useless to me.
This would 100% be an upgrade to galaxy buds. You could get a TWS adapter too if you’d like. Kato is a bit lean in comparison to this but all depends what you’re looking for.
@Hobby Talk oh yeah, I already have the kato. I'm probably going to return it and put the money towards something else like this. So would you think the variations would be good for bass?
@@oredaxmc2871 depends on the music… for most people it’s probably amazing, for me I prefer a bit more mid bass… if you want to try a cheap IEM with lots of bass the QKZ x HBB is a great option. There is two versions, the khan is quite good as well and is similar to Variations bass.
People do not mention that the Variations can handle and sound amazing when driven with a 4,000 mW dac amp.....WoW....I even listened to Good Morning Mrs. Smith on my iFi IDSD Micro Signature on my Macbook Pro at 2,000 mW 50% power and no sibilance and sounded amazing..... I like them better than my EJ07
0:35 your video is too blurry for me, but do you put the arrow "on top / outside", or you put the arrow "under / inside"? Theres no instruction and the cable connector seems to fit both ways... thanks

@HobbyTalk ok thanks, it fits two ways lol you can rotate 180 degrees from that picture, theres a notch both at top and bottom, thats why its confusing lol
@@HobbyTalk idk what to do its just lacks body and soul for me. Sold the heyday for it because the treble was too peaky for me but overall its an awesome set. I love the vari for subbass heavy genres but for rock and epic soundtracks or orchestra its just not that good even boring.
@@HobbyTalk even the details arent that impressive (huge step up from mangird tea or fiio fh3) but not from a planar. Should I sell it or keep it :-( ?? I think I wait for a planar that is made for treble sensitive people like me. Would you tweak it with eq or sell it ?
@@mysteriousstranger332 im treble sensitive myself… most planars have some spice… heyday and P1 Max are your best bet… you can try to auto EQ variations to my target: hobbytalk.squig.link/?share=Hobby_Talk_Preference_Target,Moondrop_Variations … but yeah I didn’t love variations enough to buy it. It’s okay and I definitely see why others like it but wasn’t for me.

@@HobbyTalk I just purchased a tribrid iem foe 15 bucks off amazon...Revonext rx8s...its a tribrid iem that plays well..esp foe 15 bucks...ran a pink noise burn in last night on it, see if i could tame down couple a rough edges, with the 2 baz it has...was just listenin ta pink floydz / us and them/ any colour ya like vid on yt...revonext rx8s plays pink floyd songs really good...pf song one of these days, also soundz great thru them....15 fn dollars for a 40 dollar iem...im.ok with that..no xpectations means im gonna njoy it more...yeah!!! @@HobbyTalk abb sa loot lee..problem with mid tier to really outrageous priced iems..numro ono..i know this is a clean channel, but hyere in the lower 48s, theres a sayin, for that much money, that better be able to blank my blank...I luv budget iems, whizzer bs1/ cca cra/ tinhifi 3 plus was a splurge for me, couple of revonext iems, rx6/ rx8s, got both for 25 bucks..they play well...for that price 500 bucks, you know and i know, your gonna need xpensive dacs/ amps/ and even with spending more on thoze add ons to the 500 dollar pricetag, a person can just plug a 3.5 iem/ budget/ no xpectations and be happy with that...i know i am....anywho!!! Ill be schekin out ur tangzu wan ner review for sure...I errd of all the budget iems, that audio people think are great budget iems, the wann nerrr might be the best outta all of em..they give ya 6 pairs of eartips/ decent to nice cable, shells look great....imo!!! What more do you need with an iem....yeah...cant wait for ur wan. nerrrr review..peace
