Roland Emmerich is an interesting filmmaker. He seems to be the most comfortable making sci-fi disaster flicks but he’s at his best when he’s making non-sci-fi films like The Patriot, Anonymous, and Midway. I’d even put 10,000 BC up there. I consider that one of his more under appreciated movies. I wish he’d do more period piece/war films. His best disaster films are undeniably Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow.

I really enjoyed the movie. It was not only visually impressive but the plot incorporated so many moon conspiracy theories, I found it very entertaining. The science fiction plot was amazing but everyone keeps overlooking it wanting it to be a drama and focus on the side characters for some reason. I just found Moonfall on streaming just after D+ day and over the weekend saw it and Thor L&T. I expected a b movie, but found it vastly more entertaining than Thor. I was curious how they would explain the moon crashing to earth and how they would save the world from it. About 2 hours of conspiracy theories, aliens, and super structures later I was left with an amused chuckle of brainless fun over a movie that didn't take itself too seriously, but had some emotionally touching moments.

The reviews of this are reminding me of Geostorm. I love disaster films and Geostorm, to me, looked awesome. But then when you went go see it... there wasn't even a Geostorm in it. EDIT: And I'm with Ray. I was actually very excited to see this but then I saw the trailer that revealed Aliens were involved and my excitement level dropped. I was hoping it was a natural disaster. Or maybe they built a space station on the Moon that messed with its orbit. Aliens just made it dull for me.

I read the premise of the movie, and saw the trailers and my immediate thought was "Is this a spoof? I can't tell... I hope it's a spoof" It's a dumb idea on the order of one of the absolute worst TV series ever made: Space 1999. It also gave me Armageddon vibes, not a good thing for someone with a science education cuz to me, Armageddon was a travesty -- not the worst SF movie ever made. Not even the worst SF movie of the late 1990s (I give Independence Day that prize). But that's what I thought simply from the trailers. Apparently, my gut wasn't wrong.

I was really excited going into this film! & I was really let down on this one. I mean the script was PAINFUL! The build up should of been better / longer. Instead of the drawn out "ending" part 2 felt like a part 3.. but then 3 was okay I guess. But it's weird, like I should've hated this film but at the same time I kinda enjoyed it. I think because the idea of it was actually a good one, they just couldn't deliver on it. (I only watch official trailers too)

Sounds like Emmerich is making films in an outdated style, which is stuck in the beginning of the 90's. When I watched independence day resurgence I was really disappointed, and sounds like he went for this again. Maybe he should start making different kind of films that is not action or sci-fi and make like an independent drama or a comedy, to find a modern perspective of film making so he could make this big blockbusters again in a better way.

It's been quite some time since I've been this disappointed in a film (Moonfall) so soon after being disappointed by another film "Eternals". Moonfall was BADDDD, really awful. When I found out Roland Emerich (the Hack director) was directing this I had a feeling a dread and I was correct. The theatre was more than half empty. I really felt bad for the beautiful Halle Berry - her character really had nothing to do until the very end and the writing was awful - Rob was spot on with his review.

Yes, idea of the moon being a hollow megastructure is totally bonkers and yes, there’s tons of illogicalities but it’s big, dumb fun and even if there’s tons of missteps, Roland Emmerich has churned out a fresh, creative and highly entertaining take on the trope-y disaster b movie. A big budget sci fi parody 🤣

Shame too because that concept is much more interesting than this film allows. There are massive questions and anomalies in reality, with our moon Luna, personally I do think it's artificial, there are so many anomalies that seem very difficult to explain unless you speculate that it may indeed be designed and constructed. Call me crazy, that just tells me you either haven't looked at the details or that you don't know what you're talking about. NASA discovered microbiology on Mars in 1976 - let the designer of the experiment explain it to you, Gil Levin, videos on RU-vid exist where he explains it in great detail and why it not only was a positive result, but that NASA doesn't want the answer, publicly at least .
