That's the thing of it. I'd rather go get a drink with Moore's Bond in a nice social club with lots of opportunity for lampooning one-liners. I know he'll get a bro home safe afterwards - and probably with a girl, because he's that sort'a guy. I'd rather go with Dalton's Bond to a seedy dive bar - partly because he's already done that - because I know he'll have my back WHEN things get rough, not if. Connery's Bond, i'd rather go to a casino with, because not only is he going to win, he'll gently prod a bro away from the cheating tables. Lazenby's Bond, I'd rather have go with me to an appointment of some kind, as he's more dedicated and careful, and if the doctor is trying to brainwash me or something, he'll get me out of it. Brosnan's Bond, I'd go paintballing with - he just seems better at that aspect of things, and if he's on my team, we're winning. Period. Thing is, as much as I hate to admit it, I could probably do several of those with Craig's Bond, and I'm more of a Dalton/Lazenby fan.
@@helsyfinduspictures2271 Maybe it should be added that "Jaws" couldn't be translated in a fitting word, so he was called "Beißer" which means "Biter" in the german dub!
Jaws was easily my favourite and most feared Bond opponent. The slap stick humour was always perfect. It never took away from how powerful he was. Great stuff!
He started as a scary badass (that bit people to death!) and turned into an indestructible toon. Smashed through a concrete building with cable car glass and twisted metal and he's momentarily stunned.
Jaws stops the pulley, Jaws turns and walks away from the pulley. Pulley starts moving again, Jaws stops to give the pully a mean look. Pulley gets intimidated and stops!!!
@@ruminaaziz6887 Just shortly after the tiger experienced. Both the coldness and strength in jaws's touch. All the fur on that cat. Would immediately stand up yellow. As it turned to attack. Only now in fear for its life.
And he stole that line from Scaramanga. "the thought had occurred to me" 5 years earlier. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rwqc4V6Pd70.html at the 2:25 mark in the link video not this video.
as a kid that jump at 2:13 always impressed me, now i realize it looks really dumb with the editing but i still like it because of the memories this scene gives me, honestly this is one of my favorite Bond scenes ever
I remember reading that a stunt performer made the car-to-car leap on the actual location with no safety net. While there are several inserted shots of the stunt people on top of the real cable cars, that exact stunt doesn't appear to be in the finished film. The leap seen here looks like it was filmed in the studio.
Same here. My family went to see it when I was 9 and it was one of the scenes that stood out for me. Of course now I realize there's no way that even a guy his size could do a standing horizontal 20 foot jump like that.
Richard Kiel played everything from monster to bad guy in many films. I remember him in episodes of 'The Twilight Zone', 'Wild Wild West', and even in a 'Gilligan's Island'. But my most memorable role was in 'Pale Rider' when he went from being a bad guy to a hero, as he grabbed the man who was about to shoot Clint Eastwood in the back. R.I.P. Richard Kiel. The gentle giant.
My God how gorgeous Rio de Janeiro(and Copacabana Beach) is looking from above! "Moonraker"(1979) was sooooooo beautiful film! *** Great director: Lewis Gilbert and great DP: Jean Tournier!
"I'm sure we're better off out than in". In the circumstances, stranded in a swaying cable car, stuck hundreds of feet above the ground, that proposition is, I think, at least debatable
You don't want to be caught in a small enclosed space with an enemy around. Granted Bond didn't know at first if it was an enemy or just a malfunction but years of experience has taught him that it's better to be safe rather than sorry. Especially since he knows Drax is sending people to kill him so why take the risk?
I love Jaws unsophisticated destructiveness and how he comes out unscathed time and again! This and Roger Moore's great lines and humane side really made these bond films so enjoyable to view!
But how was he able to operate the cable cars perfectly after Jaws had already bitten through the cable. That always puzzled me and let's face it, this particular movie had plot holes you could drive a Moonraker shuttle through.
@@Axel1051 Films don't make much sense for the sake of entertainment and cost reduction, and it annoys only the smartest people :[] Why bite the cable if they could get control of the control room anyway? Even worse: Bond was coming TOWARDS Jaws for free. Eventually, if he bit all the cables Bond would've been screwed, but the meeting was epic - the fighting not unleashing its full potential though.
Fun way to nonverbaly say "Mr. Bond" and "Jaws" with just there respective smiles. Shows that despite the fact they were enemies at that point, they had a form of respect for each other.
ROGER MOORE IS JAMES BOND OO7 IN IAN FLEMING'S MOONRAKER It's over-the-top, outlandish, larger than life..... With cartoonish humour, especially the Gondola Chase..... But, I love MOONRAKER..... It has a special place in my heart..... It's the first Bond film that I ever watched ,in 2015..... It got me into Bond..... It may be ranked by many Bond-fans as one of the worst..... But, I love MOONRAKER.....
Agreed! Not everyone hates this movie. I appreciate it because of both it's cartoonish humour/campiness, the light-heartedness from the movie and especially Jaws himself.
Roger Moore was always my favourite Bond and he had some of the best movies in my opinion. Spy who loved me was always my favourite, Man with the golden gun and moonraker close second.
"Hang on James.....the thought had occurred to me ! " LOL ! I wish i could have such sang froid in that kind of situation . Would you really be better "outside" than in when your cable car stops ? Love the difference between the genuine aerial footage and the close-up back-drop scenes .....
His face screams "Oh no! Stop the cable car! Stop the cable car!" The other henchmen who was at the controls sees the speeding cable coming toward him and says "Screw it Jaws! You're on your own!" And runs off! LOL!
Woow! watch this movie yesterday just before going to sleep. This scene was at Pão de Açúcar in Rio de Janeiro.
"Hang on James" - Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) "The thought had occurred to me" - James Bond (Roger Moore) James Bond (Roger Moore in Moonraker, 1979) could be counted on to come up with the humorous one liners even when he was in a perilous situation.
John Barry lent an air of panache and sophistication to an otherwise rather silly scene with his graceful chords. Any other composer would have placed it in full blown cartoon land.
Rio de Janeiro, James Bond, Lois Chiles, and Jaws. What more could you want, except some Brazilian Bossa Nova music 🎶 somewhere before the action scene…or after…🎬🎶❤️🎶🎬
If you're ever in a zipwire/cable car chase it's reassuring to remember that in these circumstances you would have to be moving backwards for the cable car to catch you up.
