A song written by Jon Bennett of Moonrakers. At the end of the 19th century there was a boom in the fishing industry and many of the individual fishermen had their businesses taken over by larger companies. These same companies sought cheap labour in the workhouses, including boys as young as 14. They undercut the wages of the true fishermen, only learned very rudimentary skills, and often ran away from their indentured labour. The song draws on their tales found in the Grimsby library archives.
