Not sure about having Mopar as the first word in your title. Chrysler may hit you with a cease and desist. My Dad worked for a company who called themselves Better Stones and Gardens. Better Homes and Gardens magazine hit them with a cease and desist order and they shortened it to Better Stones. If you don't plan on setting up the LLC you may want to drop that. I had a shop and did mobile service on evenings and weekends. I worked on SAABs. On my cards I had my name, phone, e-mail and " SAAB Enthusiast Specializing in Parts and Service for models 99 and 900".
Focusing on Mopar is a smart move in my opinion. Not just your comfort level, but it signals to a customer with a Chrysler vehicle that you are more likely to be a credible option than a generic mobile mechanic.
I have the pittsburgh 1/2" collapsible one for a back up, I have the long handle husky one for tite reach areas, that's good you got a friend to help you out for bigger jobs, im starting to do mobile again I do pretty much everything except diesels and rebuild automatic transmissions, jobs I like to do are motor swaps on anything, not the greatest at timing jobs neither but if it calls for a timing tool I have more confidence,I'll still do timing jobs just take longer than expected, hope you get some work it's alot of fun when you're busy, sucks when you're not, try to do as much as can as far as jobs, my cousin got me into mobile work when I was working with him, I started off honda performance shop, my friends 700hp crx came outa that shop was alot of fun there I learned alot, was my stomping ground
I thought about the same thing too. I believe what you can do is call yourself "XYZ LLC" and then below that say, " Specializing in MOPAR" or whatever. I see most of the German and Asian independents do it that way. And the fact that he is in a Chrysler dominated area concerns me about a cease and desist.
You better get yourself a witech subscription because if the dealer is over an hr away you’ll be requested to do module programming. You will need business insurance to get your nastf so you can buy PIN codes for pcm replacements on newer dodges
Love the name. Zero chance of Mopar feeling threatened by your mobile business. lol. But, def wouldn’t use LLC without actually completing the Limited Liability Corporation process which is super easy and inexpensive. I also use Veteran owned and ASE Certified on my cards.
Dow's Mobile Desert Mechanic would be a name that I'd suggest. Maybe create some sort of slogan or tagline about no one is stranded in the heat when they call you. Do you know anything about webdesign, because I think website is in order for ya dude.
I operate a LLC auto repair service and while I do mobile stuff and concierge service upon request, I NEVER do oil changes unless I’m doing other work for that particular customer. It’s simply not worth it!
Great for you Justin. Dow Mobile LLC is best for you due to various reasons. But most importantly stick with what you feel more comfortable working on, but do a great job and word to mouth will do the rest. And you'll grow from there. God Bless
Brand yourself wouldn't use the Mopar name due to trademark. However you could say specializing in Mopar. Also most of my work is some of the simplest jobs, brakes, tune-ups and a/c. Don't be afraid to turn jobs down and be firm in your decisions. Customers will try to take advantage of the fact that you are a small business. Most importantly file your business license LLC and get your E.I.N with I.R.S.
You probably meant mobile not Mobil and this is a pedantic comment but I’m saying it anyway. Use mobile not mobil for the same reason you shouldn’t use mopar.
I think you being a Mobile Mechanic is a great move as you can work your own hours and you can get some great content! Now you can start buying tools and doing tool reviews! Yes like the business cards. You need a van now to keep all your tools in. Not sure if I would use Mopar as that is a license trademark name. Could cause legal issues esp since you are on RU-vid.
I’ve had a Stanley extendable ratchet for 12 years and it’s never failed me. Husky used to offer the same one then switched to your style after they shifted manufacturing of hand tools to Apex from Stanley. I’ve never heard anything bad about either style other than the sliding extension lock will eventually fail and you’ll have to warranty it which is no big deal.
Specializing is a great idea, plenty of broken Chrysler products out there, limit inventory, maximize knowledge of the product line, Will allow you to be efficient at what you do, you will be well experienced with pattern problems and diagnosis 👍👍👍 Just be sure to get all the business legalities properly dealt with... Hey Justin i really just work on Chevys. Cummins , paccar. But my side business I’ll work on anything. I just know my limitations. I just try and stick to the maintenance stuff, but I do like dealing with the electrical and my scanner comes in handy for that info. I’ve also been working on construction equipment and ag stuff As I have this one customer that owns a body shop and he gives me work on the cars that come in needing repairs

Good stuff man, Use youre territory and area climate to youre advantage, For those other asian cars upsell rodent electrical repair, Lube and filters, Cooling system, general maintenance, ac, tire patch, etc. Price accordingly in east los angeles ca independent shops are charging 150.00-175.00 per hour plus parts. Hopefully it all works out and be patient the customers will slowly trickle in once word of mouth gets around of youre quality work.
Stanley made that exact same ratchet 20 years ago. I bought mine when they came out and I love it. I upgraded over the years and don't use it that often anymore, but to me, it was still a great ratchet for the money.
This is the smart move work on what you know the best. Trust me working fords hell no I couldn’t do it anymore with them powerstrokes either. You doing what you know best and I know it’s going to work out for you just keep your head up.
My mobile was calling midnight mobile service and I did repairs at night on semi trucks and trailers but I stuck to services, wheel ends, and suspension

Additionally, there is liability. If someone sues over a bad repair, they might add Chrysler to the lawsuit. Then Chrysler would sue him. It’s a mess.
Need a dba...cheap at the courthouse. Do your mopars but maybe case by case bids for your outside parameter jobs. Never know what might show up. You will enjoy working for yourself. Makes the hard times easier to deal with. Maybe some work inside your garage?
Idk how the bigger chain repair places do on your end of US (I’m in GA). But here LOTS OF THESE CHAIN STORES do not approve much heavyline. No tech available to do the work, so they ship it along. You being a heavy line guy, you could advertise yourself as heavyline guy to all local shops and do all the big work they can’t perform. If of coarse they operate with low wage employees and ship heavyline. Just a thought

I think that’s great! I would try and go to different mopar dealerships too and see if you and be a contracted “mopar approved” mobile service mechanic as well. Justin Dow.. If I had a choice and could make enough money from just one brand it would be Mopar vehicles for sure. Although I have made a lot of money working on Chevy, Ford and all the rest. Business card looks a lot better but be careful stating that it's an LLC unless it really is and also be careful using the "Mopar" name. I'm not sure if it could cause problems or not just use caution. You got this my friend.
Are you only working on Mopar? I def wouldn't limit yourself...... I think at the beginning you may need to expand to as much as you can until you gain traction and regular/repeat customers. Also I don't think using Mopar in you business name is a good idea at all, Licensing issues and you could get sued. Not hating, just my 2 cents
You should consider going down the hill I mean if the job is let’s say intake gaskets or something like that and you can make 300$ minus you gas it’s still good and better then nothing, making your area so small definitely gonna affect you making as much money
Dont limit yourself in the business name and dont use your real name in it either. You cant get away from the business if your close it because its your name, forever linked. I would mention your specialty in mopar in your list of services you offer but use a general catchy name for your trading name. It wasnt Steve Jobs Computers, its Apple. Also a name that goes with the type of clientele you want to have as customers. If you worked on high end euro you would call it "superior mobile" or superior automotive and not call it monster mechanical or loco automotive
Being that you do reside in ca it may be different for you but have you applied and received the paperwork for an LLC yet? Also not my business but I’ve been down to my last dollar too, that being said did you really have to have another 3/8 ratchet? Nearly $40 could go a long way towards gas for your first few jobs. Mobile repair interesting. I do mobile repair on almost every type of truck, equipment. Don't work on ford 6.4, otherwise anything goes. F550 with a crane. I have spent a ton of money setting up. Drop Mopar, and pick something else.
Unless you have paid for an LLC you can't use that designation. You're currently a DBA. Doing business as. You're opening Yourself up to trouble that it's not worth.

DBA means you have filled no paperwork to be a business like a LLC or INC or Scorp and all the others.. everything falls under your name and social. I own a business I'm a LLC I have a tax payer ID number from the IRS. LLC and everything else you have to file paperwork and pay. DBA is just your average back alley dude doing work for cash. If he doesn't get a business bank account he won't be able to take checks unless they are written to him personally. More than anything there is a lot of legal issues with making claims that you're a business that you're not. Opens him up to a lot of potential legal action

I think yoi screwed yourself with uaing mopar and an llc you don't have. This is a horrible idea and you are setting yourself up for problems. Also how are you going to do payment processing, insurance, yada yada? You need insurance to do what you are planing.
Perhaps start watching semper fi mechanic. You might want to change the title justin dow mobile mechanic specializing in dodge, chrysler and jeep vehicle's to avoid fca writing you a nasty gram. Be on the look out for a used stepvan or uhaul truck to secure your equipment in.
I have over 30 years of advertising & marketing experience. BIG problem with your business name. It is that you are assuming that the average (non mechanic or car person) even knows what Mopar is. I would bet money that at least 50% of people driving a Mopar don't even know it. To make it worse, even if they did know what Mopar was, you have totally alienated all other make and model owners which is a REALLY bad thing. Even if you can't fix all of their cars, you won't even be able to "get up to bat" with them to tell them that it is beyond your ability. Do yourself a HUGE favor and CHOOSE A NEW NAME THAT EVERYONE CAN UNDERSTAND AND INCLUDES ALL MAKES AND MODELS.
