Definitely one of the best neckknives. Very sharp, easy to sharpen, nice grip, good handling and nearly undestroyable. In addition, it is legal to wear in most countries.
@Norse Woodsman Didn't the LOL give it away? Please don't pray....it will not help talking to an imaginary being...I guarantee you...he (she) will not answer. Let's behave like adults.
One advantage i didn't foresee but appreciate quite much is that using it in non-remote areas like town/park etc (turns out to be the 95% of my time using a knife) doesn't draw people's attention. Any longer knife, even a Companion, draws sight of people if drawn say in a park, eg. when there are children around etc. On top of that, the little knife does pretty much everything i do even in the forest - cuts, feathersticks, scrapes and even splits small wood into kindling... You don't need to batton it necessarily, but yes You can do the very light battoning to split sticks quite well with it and it doesn't feel weird at all.
Believe it or not, I skinned a deer with my Eldris. My cousin got one when we stayed at my father in law's cabin and needed help to field dress it. His knife was pretty dull. So I remembered that I had mine on my neck and gave it a shot and started to skin with it. It did remarkably well. It holds an edge really good, too. Comes in handy in a pinch. I bought the green one.
Thank you. Very informative. One added descriptor would be that many of those 10 things you can actually ‘do better’ with the smaller knife. It gives you more control in some instances, and with the package cutting, it’s less intimidating to pull out the smaller one, than to pull out a large one back at your home base in mixed company, so it’s one you can carry every day almost anywhere.
I have never been a fan of the Mora Knives, but the Eldris is somehow different. I have three of them (in different bags and packs). They are in my fire kits, and I absolutely love them.
Thank you for English, great video. I really like the Eldris but have not purchased one yet. Watching you work with the knife it appears you have a lot of control on the blade, seems it would be very good at precise tasks. I am ordering one today.
Well said. I just subscribed. Your English is so much better than my Swedish. The old camera worked just fine. I got my Eldris yesterday for my pocket. Thanks for this video.
Good afternoon from this side of the globe. Thank you so much for sharing your video. I am waiting for my Eldris Burn Orange to arrive soon. I appreciate the two things that I should not do as a respect to the knife, thank you so much for your advice 😊 🇵🇭
Thank you for this video. I just received my Eldris, and received my Garberg about a month ago. I really like the "Big Brother" / "Little Brother" team. And I laughed when you showed the two things you *cannot* do with the Eldris. Very fun.
Nice video on the new Eldris neck knife from Mora. I just received mine & was impressed with initial observation & quality. Will be trying it out at deer camp in a few weeks.
As an American there is one thing I don’t understand about fellow outdoorsmen (and women). That is the present obsession with big honking knives 🔪 for outdoor use. I mean I like big knives and I cannot lie, but as a child of the 60s and 70s I learned using Cub Scout and Swiss Army knives. In most cases I don’t need a huge knife to baton to survive. They also weight a lot. I’m older now and have SLE. I don’t like carrying a lot of weight if I don’t have to. I usually carry a 4” knife now. Does all I need. I can even baton in a pinch. If I need something bigger I would carry an axe or packing manual chain saw, and a small neck or bird knife. I really like the eldris and am looking into purchasing one to permanently put in a fire kit as a striker.
I thought that you were going to say that your old camera only records in English!! Ha!! Great video, thanks for posting....and I really appreciate your title--right to the point.
Thank you so much for this video. This morning I was wondering if it was worth getting out of bed, for sure it was, I had to watch it.This knife is sold between 25€ and 45€ depending on the vendor (huge gap isn't it). After viewing it I'm now aware that this particular knife is suitable to slice a carotte ! This video is of an unmesurable value, for sure.
Great video Peter! I'm more excited to get one of these than I am the Garberg. I am not much of a fan of neck knives but I think this looks extremely handy and useful.
Thx Mike, I´m really satisfied with mine. I´m the same as you when it comes to neck-knife, but some times its very handy. The same tasks you do with a average folder is the same tasks you do with Eldris, but Eldris is stronger than most folders, why, its a fixed blade...:)
I have been long enough in Norway now I might actually understand some Swedish. Irregardless, this was a great video. I just ordered the red version, and I will save up for the Garberg. Thanks for the vid!
Great vid! Thanks for an English version, because although I wish I could speak Swedish, I am fairly sure I am getting too old to learn and do the language any justice. Cheers!
Your English is definitely good enough! ;) Thanks for this review. I liked it a lot. Not to much talking, just demo. Great! I was browsing the morakniv website using the compare tool and I'm glad I've seen your vid. I'll buy this knive. Thanks for helping me choose! :-)
