Came to Canada on honeymoon nearly 28 years ago and moved here to Alberta 25 years ago, we love the Rockies and will always be a favourite, although 12 years ago we moved to Vancouver island and just love the scenery.
I was lucky enough to drive from Montreal to Vancouver many years ago with a friend........it was just at the end of September and when we arrived in Banff the first thing we did was go to Lake Moraine and see The Seven Sisters, which are the 7 peaks that are there and used to be on the back of old Canadian $20 bills........I wept and to this day was one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen...................
LOL I used to live/work there as well. Back in 1991 when the new lodge was being built. Did you hear the story of the fire? That was a local who did that looking for me. I used to rescue Americans caught in the wind on the other side of the lake...solo.
As a former operator of an EcoTourism b business based out of Canmore, I was blessed with offering tours to this wonderful piece of Paradise. The rockpile is where I learned how to master my meditation skills. If you thought the scenery was bucolic before you meditated after you open your eyes it was 1000 X's more!
I'm in awe at these natural settings you've captured. I loved your Banff Springs Hotel vid, too, very much! I had no idea that vacationing in luxury could be done on a budget until I ventured to Quebec City and stayed at Le Chateau Frontenac years back. For some reason, I thought that Banff would be out of reach -- now I know it is not, but it's your vids that revealed this great news! I'm now planning a trip to the Banff Springs Hotel.
How wonderful. An hour’s drive from my home. Been to the public areas but nice to know what the lodge is like. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed our Canadian experience.
Yes, a place more like it for me, open, casual, You do not have to worry about something get broken or a dirt a bit. It feels more like home, that cabin -but in style, one can just relax and enjoy the stay, and not alone but with others for company.
I`ve fallen in love with this place and thats just with this short little film. Me personally i`d would always choose the Rockies for a holiday than anywhere else. Thanks for the posting of the film.
It's been about 20 years since I visited Moraine Lake. I have been there twice. The first time was late July. Arrived at the lake in early afternoon on a bright sunny day. As we walked up to the lake from the parking area below, it took my breath away as we first saw the lake and the mountain peaks going straight up from the lake to the sky. The most beautiful place I have ever been.
I live in a beautiful area, but I remember thinking when I was there nearly 40 years ago that this was on another level beautiful. Definitely time to return. I'll just have to be prepared for a major increase in the amount of tourists since 1981 lol,.
Amazing !! Bravo ! Very impressive video, perfectly shooted and one more place to go on my bucket list :) I was updating RU-vid on my phone 4 to 5 Times every day for the past 10 days, waiting for the new one :)) Thanks to you I've spent a week end at the Rosewood in London, inspires by your video (as I love the Shanghai La at the Shard) but it was amazing !! Love the place !! And the Scarfes bar! So Nice !!! Thanks for the inspiration :) I'm really a huge fan, for about a year now :)
Wow! Thanks so much for the compliment and the great comment. I am glad you enjoyed the Rosewood (my favorite hotel in London indeed). I am a bit irregular in posting clips at the moment since I am traveling in the Seychelles and South Africa, but in two weeks I should be back on the old schedule of one new clip each Saturday. Happy and safe travels!
When things eventually return to normal, you should try staying (and filming) at this resort during the depths of winter, when it is covered with feet of snow and ice. That would be interesting to see. That applies to all the other resorts you filmed in western Canada too.
Due to avalanche risk in the road that leads up to the lake the lodge is open only from June 1st to October 1st. Although technically you can still access the area as I don't believe it's closed off you'd have to do so by hiking / biking / snowshoe / ski.
I worked at the Moraine Lake Lodge summer of 86 and 87....it was a hell of a lot smaller then....I am gobsmaked looking at this video...wow apparenttly Grizzlies still a serious problem there
Agreed. As an albertan i would love to enjoy places like this once in a while, but they are only for rich tourists. I have to battle the crowds if i want to visit too. I cant remember the last time i visited this beautiful place.
@@dilljordan7303 Wow that is just wow! Can guests still drive there or have to be shuttled in? I know they were talking about shutting down the road to the public. Lake O'Hara is $860/ night for the lodge, and $1215 / night for a cabin, and have to be shuttled in.
@@bdsmith674 No way!! Its 860 for the Lodge… crazy hah Lake O’Hara is beautiful but Valley of 10’peaks is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life.. Guests can still use their own vehicles to get there- the road is shut down for general tourists (they can still use a bus).
My guess is you're not a Canadian or an outdoors person. The kayaks in your video are what we Canucks call "canoes" and just how many lodges and hotels have you checked out in the Canadian Rockies? There are dozens as or more beautiful than this one, more serene, just as picturesque, with better cusine and amenities without being tourist traps. Moraine Lake Lodge is certainly nice enough but I would rate it at only 3 1/2 stars and believe for the value offered, it is over-priced.
Mike I totally agree...nice place, but value for the money is way overpriced....I was just about to write the same thing...."what we Canucks call "canoes"....😊
It's so gorgeous country Canada and Canadian people very hospitality respect they're have nice character personality I live in London but very rubbish nothing special and I would love to move on Canada gir live soon 🇨🇦🌺🌹🌺🇨🇦
There's never been a grizzly attack there. In fact bear attacks are rare, black bears are what I would be more concerned about. No Grizzly is going to be startled coming near the lake. They can hear the people, also they're not about to bring cubs near the lake. Startling and cubs are the biggest reason for bear attacks. It's a national park. You're going to see a lot of wildlife.
