“Your Savior wants you to become something, not just do somethings. He’s endeavoring to make you independently strong, more able to act for yourself than perhaps those of any prior generation. You must be able to be righteous even when he withdraws his spirit, or as Brigham Young said, ‘even in the dark’. Using your agency to choose His will and not slackening even when the going gets hard will not make you God’s puppet, it will make you like Him. God gave you agency and Jesus showed you how to use it so that eventually you could learn what they know, do what they do, and be what they are.”
How do you get the best swords? You take the raw material that is filled with useless material and good material and put it in the fire. You remove the useless material and pour the good metal in the form. You then begin the molding and shaping. You hammer it and put it back in the fire as many times as needed to get the the best out of the metal. Then you refine or sharpen the edge till you get what you want. That is what the lord is doing with us. We just need to be willing to go back in the fire and take the blows so we can be what the lord knows we can become.
Moral agency makes us better people. When using the testimony of Jesus Christ, we learn the will of our Heavenly Father. Revelation has to be sought out line upon line and precept upon precept revelation upon revelation here a little and there a little. Let us be more receptive to revelation as we act upon the law being predicated by the hand of Lord. Like the savior we will not receive of the fulness at first but through strict obedience in keeping God's commandments we can become more like him, and we are promised as we do these things with an eye single to faith, we will receive light and glory. When we practice faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ we shall live from grace to grace. For It is by grace that we are saved and receive the fulness of the glory of the Father.
