somewhat? the men who would become Nazgul in general range from mundane to sorcerer in origin, so it stands to reason some of them could cast various spells. LOTR in general is considered a soft-magic world. Much of the magic is expressed as fate/unseen divine intervention. The Istari in particular did have specialized domain over certain schools of spell-casting, though again, most of their craft would not be applicable on the battlefield. By the time Sauron launched his 3rd assault on the ppls of middle earth, he is considerably weakened from his former glory. He had physical form, yes, and even though he would still be too great a match for any living foe in Middle Earth in a 1v1, he wouldn't likely have access to a host of spells to cast at will. Even at the height of his power, Sauron was more of a diplomatic antagonist, preferring to outwit his enemies and spin complicated webs of lies to undo & corrupt his foes. He was also a great craftman, and we see him casting spells in the crafting of the rings of power. We don't really get a good sense of all of what he's capable of, tbh.

No kidding. Went from humiliated prisoner to advisor of the king and convinced a people to go to war with God. Put Sauron in the star wars universe and Palpatine wouldn't stand a chance.

I think it makes it realistic to lore if you have friendly fire off for them. They’re good enough to volley with individual accuracy.
