Only just come across your videos, mate . Love the way you do them, knowledge boys and girls should watch these vids to counteract the Doom and gloom that is a disease in the cab trade, I've been out three years now and love it . 👍
Thanks mate. Yeah hopefully some can find my videos helpful. Glad you still love it. I love it when it’s one in and one out all day. Not so much when it’s dead quiet 😅
Massive thanks for another brilliant video Ollie, and for your reply to my query about your cab's maintenance arrangements. Keep those wheels turning and you'll be earning! Loved your comment "It may upset some people, but sod it,we've got money to earn"-my thoughts exactly!😆
Very much enjoy your channel it’s nice to hear you being so positive towards the job, I find the content So informative and like myself a bit rusty now I’ve learnt a lot watching the channel I can only say you’re a credit to the trade😊
Your best video yet mate. Outstanding. I love the large screen split you have between the cabbies mate map and your pov camera from the cab, all coordinated and in sync. I hate to say anything negative but I'm not a fan of the music as I personally find it distracting (but music is very subjective and I'm sure others enjoy it). Apart from that please keep them coming and keep up the great work. Cheers
Thank you. Not a problem at all. I’m learning with every upload. I had some feedback from previous videos, so tried music in this video. I’ll play about with volumes and try and include more information in future videos. All feedback is welcome, good or bad, if something isn’t great I’d rather know and try and adjust/change it for the next few uploads 👍
Another great video Ollie! I am learning a lot from your videos (kol student) is there anyway of you calling the roads as the cab is driving down that specific road on camera during the voiceover?
Great video Ollie , what do you do when you blank out , if you can’t see a line or drop a point , how accurate is the cabbies mate , is it better than Google maps ?
I’d never trust Google Maps for the route but if it helps find a point/street then fine. Cabbies mate doesn’t run off data so it’s always relatively accurate while driving. Also that’s the same style map what we learned the knowledge with so the familiarity definitely helps 👍
I love those parts of London, however during peak times traffic around Swiss Cottage going north is always terrible. I’ll keep the camera rolling and see where I end up in the next few videos 😅👍
I’m using Cabbies mate. I’ve used it since I was on the Knowledge. It’s £30 a year I think. I have used it every day on the knowledge and every day in the cab. Can download on 2 devices so on the KOL I had it on my iPad and iPhone.
Thanks Russ. I was just thinking out loud really. Some knowledge students would see the vocal small % on Twitter(X) and Facebook who always talk down about apps. I think there’s a time and a place for an app job. 👍
In the past I have pulled all sorts of manoeuvres but why would I do it for a stranger, then 2 weeks later get letters through the door with all sorts of fines or worse, points (especially around Aldwych). I try and keep it as legal as possible now. Saying that, when you need the toilet, all those rules can go out the window 😅
Confused as to why he didn’t mention the apps name he was talking about which is called UNIFY. He’s reasoning behind it was “I’m not sponsored” cares more about his pockets than the trade smh.
Not at all Sir. RU-vid can get really funny with you mentioning companies/brands and not including the “paid promotion” banner. I’m a massive advocate for Unify. I just don’t want any issues with RU-vid and my videos. I’m learning with every video and it’s something I could have explained more during the recording. Thank you for leaving a comment
I saw this channel n thought this sounds cool. Seeing as Tom's videos have gone crap. However I really don't like the speeded up parts. I appreciate you can't keep most jobs in at these normal run time but this just feels rushed. Maybe just put in the better more interesting parts of the journey at normal speed. That's more me anyway. Look at London Eats. His channel is just delivering around London n it's really popular. All the best anyway drive 🙂
Thank you Ryan. That’s the kind of feedback I need! I’ve already edited this Sundays upload but from next week I’m going to be slowing down the driving parts and I’m looking at different ways of showing the job, not just the one style I’ve currently done. You’re right! London Eats has a great channel and has pretty much nailed it. I’ve got homework to do! Thanks again, it’s really appreciated 👍
Sadly Ryan it's a balance of what majority want vs a few die hards. On longer videos AVD takes a substantial hit, majority of people skip through videos to find the interesting bits. If you want a full journey at normal speed, might be worth asking for a members only section where the full route can be posted at normal speed, without fear of RU-vid not pushing the content out because AVD sucks.
