So pleased you have shared this. Non livestock people have no idea the stress and costs of a TB reactor can have. Scares the hell out of me. Not sure about the gamma test people tell me it can be savage. It’s time somebody stood up to the tree huggers and we start to address the badger problem. TB is spreading north year by year, current methods are NOT WORKING. Farmers know it and the vets know it.

I had tears in my eyes watching this video and looking at the heartache and frustration in your face. And we, your audience, know how much was going on at the farm and in your personal life at the same time. Thank God for your family and farming community. I don’t know if I could have handled this with as much grace.

We’ve been struggling with tb for the last 15 years on and off. The test is unreliable, the compensation is rubbish and the stress on us farmers is unbearable. The reason nothing is done to change the system is the fact that the vets are earning good money out of testing-it’s there bread and butter. Our vet said there would be 50% less vets at there practice if they didn’t tb test. As a result there’s no motivation for the vets to do something about it they are happy ticking along testing away, if a Covid vaccine can be made and given to humans in 2 years how has it took over 30 years to make a tb vaccine!? Sit tight and enjoy the ride Tom it will only get worse unless something is done- good luck 🤞🏼

I am so sorry Tom, please don’t forget that you are an amazing farmer. Every video you put out demonstrates how hard you work, your integrity and transparency in what you do, and how deeply about your herd and their welfare. Your statement about more needs to be done is spot on. There needs to be more awareness put out on a global level on how this impacts everybody around the world, because absolutely does. Keep doing what you do, you are such an amazing ambassador on how farming should be done. Sending hugs to you, Jo, your pops, the fam, and your team!!

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this, Tom. Having to lose 2 cows for no reason is devastating. I'm just very thankful for you that the disease didn't spread further than the 1 cow that was confirmed positive. The results for this 2nd round could have been catastrophic. It's so much stress! 😢

Tom: Here in Michigan, we had an outbreak some years ago with T.B. in our herd. It was discovered they got it from a nearby feral deer sanctuary that had a massive outbreak. These deer were never hunted and were kept by a wealthy landowner who was opposed to deer hunting and culling of older or sick animals. The Department of Natural Resources came in and harvested over 1500 deer in one day. This stopped the outbreak and we were compensated by the wealthy landowners land insurance. Deer hunting on your land should be a must to control diseases brought in from the wild!
@jimmyjohnstone5878

Deer are everywhere around the farm. There are stock fences for cattle but deer just hop over. There's not one huge landowner all way round the farm who could blamed for a failure to control deer. This is not USA.

I am so sorry Tom. You sound even more down than when Neptune left the farm. If the deer are infected, they could shed it when they pee or poop. If the cows graze where the deer have done their business.... just a thought. You take such wonderful care of you cows, it is painful to see you going through this. Thank you for sharing because as you say, it is part of life on the farm.

That is exactly how this can spread even without actual animal/animal contact. The virus can be spread through feces, urine, saliva, respiratory exhalations. Infected wildlife on pastures.

Part 2 of a 3 part documentary. I can sure feel your pain, Tom. Such a shame the 2 were culled, essentially unnecessarily. Was it the first video where it was mentioned that the deer were running something like 80% tb? Nothing gets done about that, but the government sure doesn’t seem to mind passing on the stresses, both financially and emotionally, to the farmers. Just doesn’t make any sense. Thankyou for sharing this journey with us. Totally agree something needs to be done to help the farmers. Such a waste of perfectly good stock. Let’s hope someone comes up with a solution to help stop the spread of TB !!

So sorry for what happened. To see these difficulties of farming...never thought...knew it was hard work...my grandparents and grandfather's brother had milk farms next to each other. Never knew about this concern. I remember when dairy farmers striked due to prices and dumped their milk. Your life was the farm and you never got time off. So glad to know you are getting past this. Thank you for sharing... Have a Merry Christmas and blessed New Year.

Farmers and fishing industry should have more help from the government. I don't buy foreign meat or vegetables only British, sorry about the cattle, great vid Tom... Good luck

I don’t see anything other than British or Irish meat in our shops, apart from NZ Lamb.

Thankyou for sharing this Tom and crew, including how it emotionally effects you. As a non farmer, I had no idea of the enormity of the effect on already busy lives. I have learnt so much from your vlogs, and no doubt it is but a fraction of what you need in that business. BIG RESPECT. Wishing you and your family some peace and calm .

You’re absolutely right about something needs to be done before it gets on your land it’s so frustrating. Thank you for sharing all that’s happening on your farm 👍🏻

I think the problem is the government and the general public care more for wildlife than they do for cows/cattle .......but when you have a farm and cattle on it it is very frustrating and makes us farmers angry when we see our animals having to be slaughtered and the only answer the government seems to have is keep testing your animals and keep taking away the reactors........if this strategy worked fair enough but it's not working the T.B problem is getting worse rather than better

@@geraldbeard856🙄🤦🏼‍♂️That’s how it works. Deal with it FFS! What a ridiculous statement! It’s not like they can keep them, get real!

Oh Tom, I'm so sorry you and the team are going through this. These episodes are breaking me and I'll never own a cow in my life. But you do, and we're invested. Wishing you all the strength and resilience you all need to get through. Also some sleep for you and Jo. Perhaps naps. And milkshakes. Lots of milkshakes ♥
