It's always a pleasure to see the ladies together, and I'm grateful that you @Bobby's Brother, have made this amazing channel to bring the entire ABBA story to new fans. Also I'm happy that Agnetha seems to be much happier in public now, and I guess that's because her appearances are on her own terms. I think we should be very grateful that the 4 came back together to give us 1 more album, and put all that work into producing the Voyage concert. Now I feel it's time to let them go. They themselves have said many times, they want to be remembered as young and full of energy and ideas.

I completely agree with you BB! This was perfect, and we got more then we could have hoped for. This felt good for them, as Björn said, this is from the people of Sweden. (Who nominated them for this.) And how could it have come at any other time? It has not been given out since 1974, this was the first time - and they got it! Björn and Benny have already been awarded by the King (medals) - when should this have happened, if not NOW?! Perfect finish to a beautiful saga, to good to be triue, but still is. I think you are right about this being the right time for ABBA to be given this award 50 years after really means a lot more than it would of 30 years after. True recognition of a group who has given so much to the world of music and beyond.

I thought I recognized one of her late husband's daughters walking in with her, which, if it really was one of his daughters, makes it extra nice that she's kept that connection to the point that she's included in such a big event of Frida's life. Frida strikes me as very kind and finds joy around her.

Frida always seems happy and with joy. Her positive attitude is astounding as, in my little opinion, she's had more than an average number of tragedies/unhappy events in her life. Her positive attitude is an inspiration.

I couldn't agree more with your sentiments! This was the PERFECT time for a ceremony and recognition such as this! And how wonderful that ABBA and the royal family go back so far together with ABBA having performed at their wedding. In today's world filled with chaos, inhumanity, misinformation and self-centeredness, the grace and integrity of ABBA offer proof of what men and women are capable of accomplishing and the power of a 'team' creating more than the sum of the individuals. We have been blessed to have lived in "ABBA's time"!
I think Frida's had a few nips and tucks, actually. And Bjorn, of course, has used vats of hair and beard dye in the last couple of decades......but essentially, yes, they're unchanged. Agnetha's lack of vanity should be acknowledged, really: one of the pop world's great beauties has aged naturally.
@@grantc61 Frida, i estimate, did some job back in the '00s but that's great because she's a woman who liked to take care of her self to look more fresh but it all was in a 'natural" degree without ridiculous hyperboles.I approve of this.Now she is more 'laidback" and enjoys her life , the love she gets from us fans and the Abba legacy they've offered to the music scene.
frida hat some plastic surgery done a couple of years ago. she said so in an interview. l didnt like the white clothes. they didnt look to good on them especially on agnetha who put on some weight, so black would have been better and more festive.

Thank you again BB for this heartfelt and touching recap of a most amazing day. I can't think of a better tribute to ABBA's legacy than to receive an honour like this. Not only have they proven themselves to be amazing ambassadors for Sweden, they have shown the transformative power of music to unite people despite geographic, political or philosophical differences. If this is indeed the last time we see Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid together in public, the memory will live on with nothing but joy in my heart. As ABBA themselves sang so poignantly "I hear a bittersweet song, in the memories we share".
How emotional!! Realising suddenly this is probably the last, their "Ode to Freedom". Many more fans must realise that, ABBA must, I think, realise that as well. They deserve stepping back. In those forums (I'm not going to mention the name of the forum) you will find many grumpy fans who would like to decide "how they think ABBA should do it". If you disagree, you will be kicked out of the forum. In my opinion, this is without any respect towards any single individual, but also not towards any of the members of ABBA.
I just lost my Mother almost two years ago. My Mother favorite music are from the group ABBA. Hence everytime I hear ABBA music, I cannot help myself except to be emotional. Thanks for the music ABBA
It truly does feel like a fitting ending, the only other scenario I could see all four back together again in public for is the closing of abba voyage in London in 2026. This is assuming they are all in good health, but if that isn’t the case, how can any of us complain? We as fans have been given a gift that most fans never get from artists. If you had told me when I first discovered abba that by 2022 they would release a new album and have a new concert experience I never would have believed you. So if this is the end, all I can say is thank you for the music!

It might sound a bit weird, I know, but I couldn't think of my life without their music: as a child, too shy and solitary, their songs were the fuel that I needed to keep on going, as an adult , their voices never stop to resonate in my soul ,like those of some good and loyal friends, they are blessed people, that's why they deserve everything they got and more. The extra footage after the ceremony by the Spanish film unit is charming. We see Agnetha and Frida having some fun with fellow award recipient Eva Rydberg who was seated in the row behind. I'm sure some of us have watched the moments when ABBA received their awards repeatedly. To follow protocol, each recipient had to adjust their walk so that they approached the royal couple straight on instead of from an angle. When Frida made her approach she looks up and breaks out into a big smile and there is definitely a muted chuckle heard. It sounds like Benny and sure enough as she passes by, he has a big grin on his face. I wonder what amusing thing happened there?
Someone wrote that Abba was (our childhood's)fairytale.I would add 'a fairytale with a miising end.The Voyage era gave the unexpected glorious happy finale that was the missing part which had been kinda left incomplete for 40 haunted years.And now the circle has closed...and i'm thinking ,feeling 'Oh ma Gosh....and now what?"....I'm not brave enough to accept that all good things Must come to an end.

I try to figure out why I am crying. I try to understand how this has such deep meaning to me. As an American I do not really understand royalty but I have always respected those who do have a royal family. I suppose my deep feelings for ABBA, along with some guilt that I did not see them when they came to the USA, nor did I express my love for them as loudly as I did the Beatles, so I guess I have guilt. But the truth is I love them equally. I love them as if I have met them and they met me. So I cry because I love them so very dearly and I worry about them so very much. All I ask is they stay healthy. I thought they looked wonderful. I guess that is what love is. We simply love them. So yeah, I cried with pride and cried with joy and cried with love. How lucky I am to have lived in their life times. I just wish time had taken longer to get this far. I also shout out Frida who has been through so much tragedy in her life and who somehow manages to smile and give to her fans and to the other members of ABBA. Anyway, I stopped crying so I will shut up.

Yes, his event has made ABBA complete the circle. We are very fortunate to enjoy this in real time, as the future fans will only know of the Avatars and videos. But we got to witness this ourselves, bringing multiple generations together for one common cause. I am so grateful to everyone who made ABBA a priority in the media!

Growing old together for sure... I was age 15 when I first heard ABBA on the radio, now 65. Time goes by so quickly. I'm sure the ABBA members are thinking the same. 50 years, it's hard to believe, but perfect timing for these awards.

It was a beautiful moment… and I loved Frida shading the prog movement and their nasty words from the past a little. Their music went global and has survived the test of time. Also, can I just say how lovely, dare I say sexy, they still look? They dressed with style and dignity and seemed very moved by the honour.

I wonder if we will see the four together again, if there will be such an occasion, maybe 2026 as the 50th anniversary of the release of the Arrival album.
