Even though we usually check out Ford Products with our good friend Jim Wicks, this truck was too good to not take a second look at!! We even had a new friend join us for a few minutes with this video to see what he thought of the auction and all of the cool cars and trucks!
This pickup was amazing and it is super unique. This truck was supposedly originally ordered by a utility company which is why this truck was equipped the way it was. The Longhorn with the extra-long bed makes it unique right away. Then add the Napco 4X4 conversion on a C-30 and you have an awesome truck that I would bet there were only a handful of ever made!!!!
The restoration on this truck was beautiful, so Jim and I took a few minutes to share it with you! The only problem with Jim at an auction is it seems like he knows everyone and a lot of people are always wanting to talk to him, even when we're doing videos!!!

I had a '70 Longhorn that I used to haul my '30 American Austin Bantam in the back of years ago . That bed is only 8 1/2 feet long , not nine as you claimed . Forest Service trucks were green , that's an Air Force vehicle . The dealer tag said North Dakota , think about it .

Napco is known for out of the box orders. The Chevy dealer would call up Napco Company nearest them, tell them what they wanted and Napco did all the HEAVY mechanicals on the truck. Then sent it back to the dealer to do the finish -up work. Possibly paint even. A customer might want that truck in a stepside shortbed, in still a three quarter ton 4x4 configuration. They might want winches---front and back. Maybe full emergency lights on cab roof, spotlights etc. You get the message. Yea this rig is cool. If it hit e-bay I'd click it in a heartbeat for 60K. Jim

Wouldn't that be a dock loading bumper so the tailgate would lay down by unhooking the straps

My neighbor had one that was two wheel drive sat for about twenty years behind his garage that had a full camper on it with a 400 cubic inch and automatic transmission. It also had the factory captains chairs and center console. After he died his wife sent it to the scarp yard.

The latest NAPCO Conversion I ever saw! We recently had a fairly straight Longhorn bed go through, but the rest of the truck was Junk. Thanks for sharing this one Chad!

I looked at this truck pretty closely. The restoration of this truck is immaculate. I thought having a 302 might have held it back a bit but still it brought $66,000. There were some cars that sold for well below value IMO, namely the 64 Fairlane Sport Coupe which only had a high bid of 27 grand.

I would not call that a step bumper step. Where is the step? I heard the old guys call a slump. He dropped tailgate straight down in there back to truck up maybe to the do ck maybe to a ramp or something where you're loading the animal. Now I'm not saying you're wrong. Not at all. I'm just asking questions and going back on memory what I heard it called. But who says those old guys were the experts anyway? You and I are about the same age. It's so nice that old guys well most of them meet even with this anymore. Remember back in the fifties especially early fifties you get all different length of beds I think 14 or 16 ft was as long as pickup beds you could get don't quote me on that. 12 ft for sure. I don't know maybe they did not believe in flatbeds back then. I figure a rancher bought this truck because if it was used for commercial use by the railroad or some other entity it'll be beat up. Where then would you see value in it to fix it? Just an opinion on that. But that is one absolutely beautiful truck. Maybe I'll Google it but how long did napco do four-wheel drive conversions? I thought they stopped in the early 60's with the pickups. Now I've seen some two-tone and bigger trucks with the four-wheel drive conversion. I'm not talking about military just civilian. They come up for sale on the auctions and generally get fantastic money. But hey thank you for bringing that truck to us on your channel. It's absolutely gorgeous. I'm assuming you're in Kansas City when me come auctions were there. That's autocorrect I'm not going to fight it. There's several sites of old cars and trucks in both Missouri West and Kansas East. It was a very special four-wheel drive Ford pickup. It was from the first year Ford built their own four-wheel drive and did not send them out to napco. And he was apologizing for the $2,000 or $2,500 price tag. He said he sell for that but I really didn't think he would because he's still in love with the truck. So I just kind of wet his palate and will stop by there again if somebody else doesn't beat me to it. Going south and she could go and then head straight across West instead of taking the toll Pike. Cut through Wichita. Up and down i-49 a lot of places. Springfield Missouri Lamar Missouri guys with a thousand to 2,000 vintage cars at their parting or will sell hole. And you would have driven right by depending on which route you traveled a 55 Chevy wagon four-door 200 bucks with little damage on the rear. The old man just clearing out his place. If for some reason you'd like to go to those places let me know and I'll give you the information no strings attached
