Ganzo was part of my transition away from buying Kershaw and CRKT at the Walmart knife counter. They got me shopping online and helped to turn my casual EDC into a knife hobby just in time for the release of their Firebird line. People forget that their Firebird line of original designs made affordable D2 a thing before Tangram and Civivi shook up the budget knife scene.

Ganzos were ABSOLUTELY my gateway knife brand. I own a dozen or more Ganzos and I have no complaints about any of them. That little F759M is probably the best $15 you could ever spend on a single pocket knife. Clearly comparable to several Spyderco models, but half the price of even their most budget offerings. It's nice that they came out with that new fixed blade which I do plan on buying, but I would love to see some new flippers hit the market. Seems like they haven't offered a new model in a very long time. Love those Ganzos, and screw everyone who badmouths these wonderful little knives. Hey Ganzo, give us a button lock please!

I had an FH91 back in 2021. Gave it away and regretted it. When I saw they were available again at the dealership where I hang out, I got one. It's a great do everything knife. Just the right size, not too heavy but with enough blade for most everything you're going to use a folding knife for. I also love the girth of the handle. It's very comfortable.

I've always loved knives, but in May 2020 I bought a Ganzo FH11 & was blown away by the quality. I saw the blade was marked D2, & thought what the hell is a D2? Cut to about a week later, & I ordered by far my most expensive knife, a UTX-70. Since then I've bought & sold over 250 knives, most of which are $200-$300. That Ganzo purchase eventually led me to Sharp By Design being my favorite knife company, followed by Ferrum Forge, Spyderco, & Benchmade. So yes, Ganzo played a pivotal role in my knife obsession. And for better or worse monetarily, it took practically no time at all to get me there! 😃

I’ve been buying and collecting knives since the 80’s. The Ganzo knives are some of the best budget knives I’ve ever seen. I need to get stocked back up on them. I often give them away to people who don’t carry knives. Edit: If anyone complains about “Chinese D2” they need to look up the Ganzo tests on RU-vid. The Ganzo knives have been X-ray tested and the metal is the same composition as American D2. The Ganzo knives are usually heat treated to 59-61 Rockwell. That’s about perfect for D2 heat treating. So these Ganzo knives have some of the best heat treatment for factory D2 knives. Edit again: I’ve been buying the Demko AD 20.5 knives and have been changing out to Flytanium G10 scales. I’m planning on getting a CPM 3V Demko AD 20.5 and going full titanium. I’ll anodize them myself with electricity or do a flame coloring on the screws, thumb stud and scales. Maybe acid etch the blade and shark lock.
@17_plus_WON
@17_plus_WON Год назад
Someone used xray on D2? Hmm, somehow I find that hard to believe. I think most of us can see Chyna has finally gotten very good at reproductions and are even able to come up with their own designs... sometimes. I'll just leave it there and save my rant. You can keep 'collecting' junk and helping the enemy achieve their objective. Thanks.
@FriedPi-mc5yt
@FriedPi-mc5yt Год назад
@@17_plus_WON Yes, there is a test where you can hit a metal with X-rays and the machine will detect which elements are used to make the metal. I carried a Victorinox Tinker for like 20 years. Then, last year I got into collecting more knives. I think I'm following a pretty common trajectory. I'm buying cheapish knives to see what sizes and types I like most. Then I'll spend money on a few more expensive ones that align with my tastes. I've got a couple of clones and a couple of Ganzos as well as plenty of the budget favorites people usually mention. My absolute favorite is a Twosun TS232 in purple. It's the most I've spend on any one knife at $95, and it's so pretty. Comfy, too. I only took the chance to spend that much at once because it was pretty, and the Twosun's disappear so quickly. I do have that Ganzo 759. It's been great. An exact clone of the Byrd Meadowlark 2. It's a very good knife - I would want a Delica, but for some reason Spyderco doesn't do the same handle/blade combo choil on their nicer lockbacks. The only cheap knife that has convinced me to spend more is the Tenacious. I have the 8Cr13Mov one in G10, and I know I want the S35VN version. Oh! I got your Victorinox Classic SD with Frankie's drawings in pink. I love it!

These days, I mainly buy and use a little more expensive production folders ($50-250), but I just bought a custom fixed blade for close to $400 a couple months ago as well. Did you know most of those "brands" are actually made by the same 'company'? They like to make it seem like they are a bunch of different companies over there, competing in the marketplace like we used to see here when we made our own products. They're basically pretending to be a capitalist society (all part of their strategy). But they are the furthest thing from it. Just imagine if our government made EVERYTHING at multiple factories and each factory was given a 'brand name'. The workers are basically slaves (and ppl think we have it bad here?) and the government rules with an iron fist. But don't worry, they are well on their way to taking us over. So we'll get to experience it firsthand. I'm sure our children will be proud of us for basically giving our country away. At least we got to 'collect' some cheap knives along the way!

I still like Ganzos. Yes, I have a bunch of top tiers in my collection, but for the prices, they're great to have in a pinch. Beat them, sharpen them, rinse, repeat. You can't really sell them, but for trade in bulk, they're great to have. I still have three (3) in my inventory, one of which is actually a 61. It's a bit small for me, but completely functional with great styling.

In new Zealand knives are nearly 3 times the price, with postage, you pay. I've used ganzo as an EDC and hunting knife and they are fine as hard use tools.

Ganzos are awesome. Great knives to give to non knife folks. They truely are a gateway drug.

Sure did, started with an $18 Ganzo and yes, now I have a Sebenza 31, and in the market for a Hinderer. My two Rick Hinderer designed ZT’s aren’t enough lol

I wasn't too keen on the FH31 but I saw the FH31B-Gk (I think I got that right) and I thought it looked cool. I bought it. The comfort is second to none. The wharncliffe blade is a great slicer. I tried it on some cardboard and it sailed through. Another fantastic Ganzo is the FH41. It's the best looker among the FH family and it's also a fantastic slicer. I also love the FH923. Mine has thumb studs to go along with the flipper. Great trailing point blade. Also very comfortable. The G-Lock equipped knives are great. I do prefer the non-bearing ones but I also do really love the FB760 and FB763. Have you guys tried out the Adimanti Neformat? If you love Ganzo knives, you should check that one out. I've got one in G10 and honestly, it's all the knife you will ever need for EDC.

I kept hearing good things about Ganzo, so when a G745 popped up on sale at Amazon I grabbed it. It has some features I wanted to try; the brand (impressed), crossbar lock (not sure about that yet), thumb studs (don't really like them), washers in the pivot instead of ball bearings (good for a camping outdoor knife), and 440C steel (apparently much better than I used to think). The reviews were not great, mentioning it being very stiff with strong Omega springs. This is true, but it is loosening up to the point I can roll it open one handed, but not flip it open. I thought it was ugly at first, and I don't like the scales or the pocket clip, but it's growing on me. It has no blade play, seems very well built and strong. It came sharp, the grinds on the blade look pretty good, and it even came with a whistle lanyard (which I immediately removed). I think I paid $11.56! Incredible value, but I don't think they are still available. A similar model is about $20 I think. I have Buck, Case, Kershaw, Kubey, Civivi, Two Sun, Tunafire and Gerber to compare it to. Can't beat it for the price.

In Canada we don't have any ganzo retailers that I know of but I've done the opposite in recent months. I started with a cabelas brand knife over 15 years ago and then during covid I wanted to get some nicer knives and got into CRKT, from there I got a benchmade mini freek and got into the nicer knives. Over the past 3 years I've had a few hinderers, a large sebenza 21 dp and tanto large inkosi, a blue diamond ti grimsmo norseman, some full custom knives and now my entire knife collection is barely worth more than the single norseman. I found with the quality most production knife makers are coming out with and how hard I am on my knives that it is more worth it for me to carry things like cold steels or ruike framelock knives as edcs. I would love to check out some of the ganzos with the bar locks though they're a great price and value it seems but unfortunately we don't have any in Canada. Currently my 2 most expensive knives are a ruike m105-tz and a leatherman free p4

You should consider this a blessing. I'm patiently waiting for the day when it's difficult to get a Ganzo/Sanrenmu/Eafengrow/etc down here in the States. This madness needs to end already, but ppl are slow to wake up.

You do realize that sal glesser of spyderco has some of his range (such as the tenacious range) built by sanrenmu? If the quality wasn’t there, do you think someone of his reputation would use sanrenmu?

The fixed blade is clearly Benchmade 200 Puukko inspired with a Mora style sheath. I'm interested in the fixed blade to compare it to my Benchmade 200 Puukko and my Mora's because it looks to have real potential to be a great budget knife.

Ganzo got me in the knives for sure. I won from Ganzo to Kershaw then I went from Kershaw to Benchmade and believe it or not it took me a while because I always thought spider I were ugly, but I’ve got quite a bit of spiderco. I got two complaints on Ganzo first one is they need to ditch the nylon washers and use phosphorus bronze bearings are OK but I like phosphorus bronze better. Second thing they need to up their steel slightly to a maybe a 9cr 18 steel but I think it would be nice to see them do 14c28n but if they could do 9cr as good as Civivi then that’s a win. Also, it’s about time to change they need to get away from 440 C I know they’re 440 C is good but the other two I mentioned are better if they do the heat treatment as good as Civivi does

They are absolutely great knives, but they do dull quickly under hard use. If you don’t have a sharpener, you may need a stronger steel for a days work. I was using mine for drywall though.
