Well she has done it again! Jamie found some more KuneKune pigs and decided we couldn't live without them. Luckily for me these KuneKune pigs are some of the easiest animals to take care of. They root very little, they don't eat much, and they are very friendly. Follow along today and see what she brought home.

Looks like Large Marge has been dethroned lol. Mable is huge! It’s always good to add new blood to your breeding program. Cal did awesome, piggies 🐷 near the road is not good.

I’ve never put new boars in a pen together as soon as I got them. They can chase the new one and possibly hurt him. I put them in adjacent pens to get used to each other.

Nooice! Your videos are very helpful in seeing the future of how big our pigs will get ...Our Kunekunes are only 9 months old now. I'm still trying to work out the electric fencing and multiple paddocks.. We will breed them for meat when they come of age. 😎 STOC

Yes they take a while to grow out but are so enjoyable

Beautiful new pigs! Just wondering if you could touch on feeding your farrowing sow food intake from start to weening!? Unless you already have a video on that subject.
@KCFarms
@KCFarms Год назад
You do t want to up feed until you sow farrows. We normally feed 2 cups twice a days one they have the piglets we usually go up to 4 to 6 cups twice a day depending on how many piglets and how the mama is looking

This is our 2nd time with our sow and she just had piglets this past Sunday and she looks skinny compared to your sow that just weened. I'm starting her tomorrow on 9 cups total hoping that will put more weight on. She had 7 piglets! I do give yogurt, pumpkin, fruit and veggies as snacks. I just don't want to over do or under do her feeding. This is my first year of farrowing and it's very difficult in our area to get a vet! Thank you so much for your response 😊.

Hi John, you said the new boar is belted. I couldn’t make out the belt. What color is it. On the kunes, what is the size standard? I just happened to meet a guy that lives an hour from us. Turns out he has Irish Dexter cattle and kune pigs. Going to arrange a visit to his farm when it cools off.

He has a white belt near his front shoulder hard to see right now since he was in some orange clay.

Did you buy some bigger pigs? Don't the short snouts cause breathing issues?

Speaking of deer, was that a fawn Cal was chasing at the very beginning of the video or a goat??

Not trying to be rude but I'm wondering what are you doing for biosecurity for new animals introduced to your herd. I was under the impression you should keep them separated for 30 days to make sure your not spreading anything to your herd. Just curious????

Curious, why not cut tusks for safty?
@KCFarms

Most of our boars are younger and tusks are just starting to show eventually we will

My tuskers have always broken them off when they got big and have had means to do so. Funny thing about rainbows, I have always chosen the wrong end to find that pot o' gold. @@KCFarms

Had a terrible day, one of my gilts first time farrowing, pushed out her anus, had a prolapsed uterus and a giant piglet stuck in the birth canal. Unfortunately lost the 5 piglets she was carrying as she was in labour just too long.
