I know that it was my imagination but I had not smelled dog fennels since I was a little girl but when you ran over those with the cutter it brought back 70 years of memory to my mind in the cotton fields in Northwest Florida. How I loved this time of the year when the goldenrods was blooming and we would cut dog fennel brooms for our playhouse. Thanks for the memories.

Mad respect. A crew just cleared brush on the powerline ROW next to my house. Insane. It's down a steep hill, across a creek, then up an almost sheer cliff face. They scouted it with a drone and had workers repelling down the cliff with brush cutters, working by hand. There was a helicopter supervising and checking the work, all while staying out of the powerlines. They were absolutely not playing around.

I use to run a side mounted bush hog on a tractor for the city. I hit a bicycle once but the wildest was when i caught a power pole guy wire that was broken off. Blade caught it and damn near pulled the pole down. In a split second it spun up and ripped that thing out of the top of the pole. I stopped the hydraulic flow as fast i could. Had to torch the cable wound around the blades to get it off.

Looks like the MTL is doing a fairly good job. I tried to buy one myself because I had seen a few of these videos and figured it was worth a try. Especially since it is really cheap in comparison. Paid my money for the MTL top of the line rotary mower and a root rake. They canceled my order after 6 weeks and kept part of my money. Sorry to say I would never go there again.

*_Beam me up, Scotty!_* (A line never spoken). Really enjoyed the _Star Trek_ dialogue - particularly Bones telling Kirk he was a doctor! Thanks for the memory. PS - It isn't about whether the accents are accurate or if the impressions are consistent with the voices of the original actors. It's about following the classic dialogue of the series and letting us all take a short walk down memory lane - a time when things were much less hectic and much more peaceful (i.e., being concerned about whether or not there was any smoking going on in the high school boys' bathroom, rather than worrying about your child being shot.).

I started with a Farmall 300 row crop tractor and a model 405 Bush Hog cutter. I eventually upgrade my tractor to a 6600 Ford. The place I live has rock as part of it's name for a reason. I've beat up rocks for years here. Personally I think jerking stumps out of the ground with a brush cutter is harder than hitting a rock. I've never sharpened the blades on that brush cutter. Doesn't need it the blades are that heavy duty. My Rhino TM 84 finish mower is a different story. The blades need sharpened on it now.

Every time you backup your not cutting nothing. I trim under the electrical line path for the city. My trimmer is behind my tractor, I take gas and oil for the tractor cuz I trim more than 12 miles. I also trim along the railroad to outside city limits.

When he backs up, the blades are still spinning. If left over debris rises it gets cut. It's very observable in his videos. Of course "not cutting nothing" is a double negative, so really you're (not "your") saying is he IS cutting something.

I have around 1/4 mile or so of power line on my land. I use a Kubota 3901 and a heavy duty 6' Bush Hog brush cutter. I start down one side and come back up the other side like mowing a lawn. Don't have so much time taking the mower over already mowed areas. Doesn't take too long to mow it when I get started.

@@flash1259 Would turning radius be an issue for the area in the video?
@flash1259
@flash1259 2 года назад
@@vashon100 I've never used a 15' batwing but, from what I can find out it takes 75hp to run it. In my opinion a 75hp tractor and 15' batwing bush hog in that small of an area would be a pain. Maneuvering around those poles to get a close cut looks to me like would be time consuming. I guess if you was really good it wouldn't take as long. That's a lot of money to invest just to cut small areas like this though. I cut my power line a while back and used the Kubota 3901 and Rhino TM 84. I have probably 3/8 of a mile to cut. It hadn't been cut for quite a while so some of the grass was probably 5' tall or so. It'd also help if I sharpened the blades. I wrote all of this and reread your comment. If you was talking about my tractor then no turning radius isn't a problem. I also have guy wires to cut around. The smaller tractor makes it easier than when I was using my 6600 Ford.
