Repeatedly saying "no matter what you think of his politics" is either disingenuous or naive when this person Vance is running for vice president. Anyone running for vice president (or any elected office) it's their politics which lead to their policies that are the main thing you should think about!
Exactly. Praising a guy who is so full of it that there should be excrement leaking out of his nose? Vance takes a "thinker's" approach to politics? Where I come from we call a guy like Vance a pathological liar. All "politics" aside.
It's depressing when DN and others are so far gone. It's Glen Greenwald, Aaron Mate, Blumenthal, Tracy and Taibi who now carry the torch for journalistic integrity. Russiagate was ridiculous on its face. Worse was when experienced journalists, confronted by it being exposed as hoax STILL pretend it had any basis in fact. The hysteria around Trump and 'independent media' just reporting the Democrat talking points has been so disappointing. Watching the cult around Biden and the hysteria around Trump (I'm in UK) is ludicrous. I'm stunned so many accept it (and even encourage it🙄)
Vance is a pretentious ass. He'd like to appear smart but really he just a douche. Old tactics. Republicans are always trying to rebrand trickle down politics but they really never change.
He’s a politician so yeah he’s an opportunist, but Ian Ward did a great job highlighting Vance’s political philosophy is deeply thought out and genuine
@JBA034 In no way is it "deeply thought out". Deeply delusional maybe. The delusional belief that you can control everyone by the proselytization of our schools, libraries, public services, and hospitals has been a continuously backfiring plan the world over. All it does is undermine the trust pple have in those institutions. Stop ignoring the establishment clause. "Keep thy religion to thyself" -George Carlin's commandment
Peter Thiel, the right wing billionaire, spent $10 million dollars to get J.D. Vance elected as Ohio Senator. The quote from Louis Brandeis is worth remembering: We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.
Almost every AG in America was sponsored by the rich and most upper crust politicians, including the ones you like, wake up out of your echo chamber lol you can't tell me you think Pelosi and her millions were earned honestly lol
@@bwofficial1776 You might want to check out a paper called: _Testing Theories of American Politics: Elites, Interest Groups, and Average Citizens_ YT won't allow links, but it's easy to find by searching.
It was Republican President Lincoln who freed the slaves. And if you notice, all the big and famous Rappers are on Trump's side. Just because you say it, doesn't mean it is real.
Check out Vance's recent interview remarks about "old cat ladies" and also about stopping divorces even if there's physical violence within the relationship, Etc..
"He thinks liberalism is... a ideology made to serve a...cosmopolitan elite..." Well, yeah, it was the new class called "capitalists" (or "merchant class" or "bourgeoisie"). We were taught that in regular public school US history, not like it was anything bad. Now both parties are economically liberal, but his wants to bring back some of the old medieval social ideology! How can you be for tariffs, you say to protect US workers, but not be for laws and rules that just directly protect workers
Exactly. He is lying. Everything he said about workers and working class, is just a show b/c of his $$$ from Thiel. Which sucks for working class ppl. Nobody is on our side. They are all liars.
To understand the his connection to the working class you should watch the Democracy Now interview with Zaid Jilani and various interviews with economist Oren Cass, most notably the one with Ezra Klein
Wow, what a good place to place the blame. Rupert grew up just up the road from me but is a bit out of reach now to pop a note into his letter box to say STOP!.
Great interview with Ian Ward! Ian’s responses were well articulated, balanced and striking. Vance doesn’t appear to be your standard MAGA or neocon. I definitely want to go and read more of Ian Ward’s works after this video.
Trae Crowder ("Liberal Redneck") had a post this week about meeting James David Vance years ago. Crowder is funny and authentic, unlike Vance. Thiel is the power behind the throne.
Thank you, Ian Ward. You are the first journalist/writer (other than Dr. Gil Doctorow) who has fairly assessed JD Vance's political potential. He complements Trump's bloviating, hyperbole and brings a refreshing independence of thought. Well done.
This is all such a bore. The old playbook of US capitalists funding anti capitalists to rescue the working class. And the media and most Americans fall for this time after time. A complete distraction from discussing the real issue:how capitalists maintain ruling class power, so effortlessly. Amy Goodman plays along with this till the end of time!
Vance reminds me of an modern American version of the French historian and politician who crushed the Paris Commune in 1871 and died 6 years after . Louis Adolphe Thiers became the representative par excellence of the French bourgeoisie, he accepted every form of government in the 19th century as long as he could fill them up with bourgeois content. Vance would fill them up with conservative proletarian content.
Gosh, Vance totally reminds me of Steve Jobs' sales-pitch style. I'm half expecting the latest iMac to rise up from out of the stage. Then a pause. Then the prestige and everyone cheers and he 'smiles'. 🖋
I believe He has the ability to restrain radicalism by persuasion and a better way of organisation of activities in accordance with law. I hope, He will find a way to balance the rights and obligations, responsibility that is a condition for stability. When this balance is broken the tendency of parasitism and anarchy is increased.
He doesn't restrain radicalism, smoothly he normalizes it. He has decided that his soul isn't worth his envy of Trump's power and overt avarice, for which he is slathering.
This guy is so far off in his assessment it's hilarious. The "new right" is the same as the "old left"! JD Vance has been on the same journey as the whole bunch of us. 8 years ago I was terrified of a Trump presidency, this year he gets my vote. The reasons for that are many and varied, but they are all of them rational, and justified. I am not running for VP, i have nothing to gain, i just thought about some stuff and arrived at a different conclusion. Y'all might wanna try it sometime.
I am in many ways the same. I still think Trumps character is despicable. But the policy is mostly right. Regardless, I don't think politics is always particularly rational. Rather, it's often dogmatic and done at a rather gut level. You have any number of people who had didn't have doctrinaire Paul Ryan libertarian style fiscal views and who therefore felt uncomfortable with the country club republican party. Many of these same people, as he rightly noted, are not philosophically Liberals but rather Conservatives.
He’s worked with Democrats more than most on bills including labor bills so not sure he’s as radical as you’re saying . He didn’t sound like it at all either.
Trump was a liberal democrat for the majority of his career. Actually fighting for the little guy isn't where the money and immunity is. Elon, Peter, and Donald all show us that the money is in getting the little guy's money and telling them it's for their own good.
That was then when trump was evil incarnate in his opinion. The Vance of today espouses different views due to seeing which side has the most gravy to give him.
At 16:43, the part left out, was; in and around 2016 was when J. D. married his wife. Now, in 2024 he has been nominated for the V. P. of the United States. Now, all racist, right-wing, rePUBElickins are called-upon to support him!” (Posted to whfsnrt 7/19/2024).
Tech billionaires should not be conflated with other billionaires. Innovation is their end game especially in the artificial intelligence race . The Trump/Vance ticket is more pro innovation. It’s embarrassing that the hosts didn’t even bother doing much homework. Instead, they were just fishing for any grain of extremism. Ian on the other hand seems to have obsessively done his research. However, his interpretations on some info are a bit skewed.
Ladies, with your permission, may I sugest you could give your distinct audience some clues about how they manage the use of language with bad intent? Intent is the key. The hell might even (which I doubt) be filled with good intentions. But bad intentions have no place in the havens. Intention is the key. They will use it against us. Use the use against them. Thank you for your kind attention. ❤️
JD! You are a liar! You talk about stagnant wages then voted against the minimum wage and childcare! You voted against the border bill. You voted against every bill that would help people. You get a Living Wage. Why shouldn't we?
Elon Musk hates unions, with a white-hot passion that has rendered him delusional. In late November, at a New York Times DealBook Summit where the aspiring-to-be-rich gather to get pointers from the actually rich, the Tesla CEO explained that “I disagree with the idea of unions…. I just don’t like anything which creates a lords-and-peasants sort of thing.” In the same interview, Musk-a mega-billionaire who famously threatened, in 2018, to take away the stock options of Tesla workers if they organized to exercise their collective-bargaining rights-griped, “I think the unions naturally try to create negativity in a company.”
I like how apparently an opinion u may have had, or something u said, in 2016 is etched in Stone, never able to be updated or changed even 8 yrs later in 2024, regardless of what u may have learned or what may have transpired over the last 8 years, & the opinion or utterance must define you for evermore.
