Beautiful space now Andrew. You did a good thing there. We've the whole winter to go yet so probably more water and snow melt to come. Love the colors. Mark
Thanks, Mark, yes I was really fortunate to capture that light on probably the last few colourful, sunny, autumnal days, its been dark and grey ever since but, you are quite right, the pond has filled up some more providing me with even more inspiration! Good to see you here and thanks for stopping by.
Your pond looks fantastic Andrew. You are doing an amazing job protecting and boosting the local wildlife. I recently went on a pond dipping event at the Warnham Nature Reserve, Horsham. Once a fortnight you should take a sample of the water and assess the amount of wildlife in the pond. Over the next 6-12 months you might see a significant increase 💚
Actually, Mike, that is a pretty good idea, if only to monitor any wildlife that finds itself there. If the frogs return then I shall be really satisfied.
Get a pair of waders on and do the work of the cows yourself lol. A quantity of good clay pressed into the bottom will provide the waterproofing you need. When they were building canals they used clay to seal the bottom and sides in a process called "Puddling"
I think I would need to wear leaden diving boots if I were to have any impact, given my slight weight! Were I in Sussex I would use a technique of ground chalk but, alas, this landscape is noted for its limestone karst. But, yes, I agree I should find some way to seal the bottom once it dries out over the summer. Good suggestion, thanks!
@@andrewnorris2 stilettos would give the right preasure too. Now that would get you a whole lot of different viewers to your channel. Lol.. perhaps no then? Clay was used in cannals. Kyper marl was best. But any heavy glacial mud / clay will do. Keep up the good work. :)
Thank you, She Wolf, I wish I could claim some credit, but it is really nature doing what it does best. However, I am grateful for the opportunity to be there and be inspired by this little corner of the village. Good to see you here.
Great to see the end result of the work put in. Glorious colours , have you noticed much in the way of wildlife? You appear to be bring slowly absorbed by the surroundings in autumn with the leaf adorning your head .
Well spotted, Linda, that was, of course, a rural fashion accessory! Yes, I am increasingly satisfied with the way the pond is shaping itself and, especially, providing me with months of inspiration. Thanks for dropping by.
Just beautiful and a wonderful display of light and shadow on the water too. Looks like you have the autumn colours there too. Autumn is my second favourite season to spring.
Indeed, Jean, I think I caught the last couple of beautiful days to really show off the magnificent colours, which I am now trying to emulate on canvas!
For such a tiny corner of the world, Anna, it really does have something magical about it. I was very fortunate to film probably the last sunny day of Autumn when the colours where stunning. I have so many inspiring images in my head for paintings I shall busy for months to come!
