I just take out my phone and scan the image of the card, use an app that checks a database for what the card does and then use a screen reader read that text out aloud.

Counter the wrong thing, you lose. Sweep one turn too early or late, you lose. Draw when you should be holding up open mana? You lose. Its a much more vulnerable strategy compared to mono red so yeah it does take more brain power

I like how the shuffler just spawns temporary lockdowns and sunfalls into control players' hands. It's pretty wild to see control with a handicap this season. Everyone I play has the nuts and top decks lava. Grixus midrange too strong.

CGB has been cutting lockdown from many decks because it does literally nothing against monored. The fuck lockdown does against hasty slickshot or mouse fling? They can just drop mouse, pump twice and fling for a billion before you even untap.

@@matthewpatton9221 You can play around sweepers. There is no way to play around Cavern. Lands are the most difficult permanents to kill, too. The presence of Cavern in the meta warps it heavily towards creature-heavy strategies, which would be incredibly strong even without Cavern.

I made a fun mono black deck this week that's been trashing mono red, 4x phyrexian obliterator (they can't remove it without dealing damage to it, many of them lightning strike it xD) 4x greedy freebooter (ramp to get obliterator on turn 3) 4x deep cavern bat 4x bandit's talent 4x liliana of the veil 4x go for the throat 4x cut down 4x preacher of the schism 2x sheoldred, the apocalypse 26x swamps (tried with other lands but missed a few opportunities to play obliterator earlier) I know it's mostly standard mono black staples but it's so much fun switching between discard, hitting their hand, and slamming phyrexian obliterator (main goal against mono red) I hope you like it!

As someone that alternates between Simic Frogs and Mono Red when I play, I love seeing these decks beat Mono Red. I happened to get enough cards with packs to be able to make a budget Red deck and use it to try to get fast wins for the dailies since I'm mostly a free to play player, but I'm saving up my Rare wildcards for the fast lands so I can try to start making more interesting decks like these. UW control is so much more fun to play, I just need like 20+ rares to make it.

It still amazes me how prevalent mono-red is when High Noon exists. A 2 mana card that basically says "win the game" against mono-red. And is surprisingly okay against most of the meta, especially in control.

ive been playing jeskai talents with Stormchaser, Artist, and Caretaker> I use Nurturing Pixie to bounce the Stormchaser Talent back to my hand after getting it to level 2, so that i can keep getting otter value and replacing the Starfall invocations that i have to use as blockers and board control against the aggro rampers Its really fun when you can cast Starfall, Then cast Chaser, Get it to level two, then cast pixie, then cast chaser again, get it to level two to get back starfall (again) and then use starfall gifted to let the pixie start the cycle all over again

40:24 I thought you liked drawing cards! You could have cracked the Fabled Passage and then also done the create a token copy ability on Three Steps, drawing a card and also it would have still been lethal on the swing back next turn (if you copied the prowess creature and cast Lightning Helix).

With how dominant these passive enchantments are proving to be, and with Duskmourn coming out and being even more enchantment-heavy, I sometimes wonder if Fade from History might make some showings, but it really needs to be a better card to be worth main-decking. It's definitely not as much of an ultimatum for any enchantment-heavy deck as Sunfall was, even though its cheaper, just because its so much narrower. Cease/Desist tries, but its expensive for its modality and takes 3 colors to make full use of. Hmmm.
