A total of 11,713, or 3.1 percent, of the 373,525 candidates who sat for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 examination obtained straight As.
Education Director-General Azman Adnan said this year, a better National Average Grade (GPN) score of 4.6 was recorded compared to 4.74 last year.
A lower GPN value indicates better candidate achievement in the examination.
Azman said 83,112 candidates, or 22.3 percent, obtained average results with at least a grade C for all subjects.
A total of 131,489, or 35.2 percent, of the candidates who sat for the 2023 SPM examination passed, while 119,393 candidates, or 32 percent, failed at least one subject.
